When we checked in the hotel desk clerk was very polite and cheeful. We had two rooms and one of the toilets clogged and overflowed. We could not call the front desk from the room, the lines did not work. We called on our cell phone and after two hours called back. They finally sent a plumber who cleared problem immediately and left. Their shuttle runs every 15 min and gets you to where your terminal. That's pretty much the high point. We stayed two nights at the Airport Hilton. We wish we had stayed one night. While the room was adequate, it was far more expensive than the Embassy Suites Hotel. With two children, the Embassy Suites was much nicer and cheaper. "Horrible Restaurant"
I wasn't impressed by the cleanliness in the room, finding rancid water sitting in the coffee maker and lint on the floor, but the real subject of dissatisfaction was the restaurant. The service muttered unintelligibly and seemed somewhat confused. Never did the water get refilled. Then at the end of the meal the bill went back and forth between the […] front desk, who had our credit card number, and the waiter and restaurant manager, who played "whose on first". No one seemed to know whether they wanted our Amex Card again or whether the charge would go to the room. We left feeling like it was our fault that they were so confused. Unfortunately, the food was no better. The clam chowder was about par for the course in the midwest, but for BOSTON? It was just canned thickened white soup with cut up sea clams and it tasted like Campbell's. I am a New Englander, and know what clam chowder is, and this wasn't even a good imitation. The cracker crusted Cod was lackluster and bland, although the Cod seemed fresh and the Lobster Mac Cheese was simply Alfredo sauce with bits of lobster. Ruby Tuesday, the chain restaurant, does it lots better. The real piece de resistance was the incredibly inedible pizza. It would not have even passed muster as a dry Quesadilla, never mind a three cheese pizza. We each tried to eat a piece when it was hot, and it was just horrible. The crust was burned and it was like a bland dry piece of hard-tack in a flat box. We originally thought to take it cold on the plane the next day for lunch, but we just left it in the room. "Overrated"
The location of the hotel was the primary reason we chose it. We could just get out of bed and walk, inside, to the airport. So that was great. However, three things really bothered me. First, after arrival I was planning on moving my car to the economy lot at the airport. The valet at the front told me they had their own lot and it would be $20 a night […] for self-parking and $38 a night for valet parking. I decided to go for the self-parking but it was $32 a night when I got to the lot. This next part is my fault: I parked there thinking maybe the sign I read was wrong because he clearly told me $20 a night (even my wife and mother-in-law confirmed that) and went to ask him about it, at which point he told me it was $32 a night. Not to be cynical, but I almost feel like I was tricked and I wound up paying $14 to take my car out after half an hour to move it to economy parking. Second, the only restaurant nearby is the one in the lobby and it was very crowded, it was seat yourself, and once we snagged a table quickly after someone else got up the service took forever. This was a Saturday night and I'd think there would be more staff. I get served quicker at a Chili's on Saturday night, and this place was way more expensive. Finally, The hot water lasted all of 3-4 minutes, after which it became lukewarm. Frankly, I find that ridiculous. When traveling I really look forward to a hot shower to relax me.
