The Park Plaza is in decline and price is no where in line with quality of rooms or level of service. Upon check in should have realized a problem when at 9pm there was a line of 15 people waiting for service at reception. Finally got to room only to realize (similar to several other posts) that the room was so small there was no closet. Between the […] bathroom and the room itself the space would have been better used as a storage closet. They were overbooked so no chance of a room change and when I spoke to the GM about the lack of a closet he suggested using the hook in the bathroom, my reply was the half inch hook used to hang a towel. I have never been more offended at the quality of service at a hotel that claims to be a quality establishment. Not a single interaction with one staff member can be viewed as positive. Once again, I gave this hotel a try. It is conveniently located for my business meetings, but once again, my room was substandard. The furniture was delaminating, there were rust stains on the carpet and the wiring looked scary. I travel weekly and seldon post reviews. This was the least sastifactory hotel experience in many years. The room was so small there was no closet or even a bar with hangers to hang clothes. Not very happy. First when I checked in I was told there were no King rooms left even though I was gauranted one with my reservation. Whats the point of the guarantee? The first room I was given was a closet in size with a single bed. "Terrible experience"
I booked a double bed via hotels.com at 1 am because my wife was kept over at MGH for surgery in the morning. I needed 4 hours of sleep before heading back to the hospital. At the same price point I could have chosen 10 hotels but thought this was the best. I was wrong. The first room they gave me had no bed - it was a meeting room. Back downstairs […] at 2 am I go. I am told "was there a murphy bed in there?" Now we all know what that is, if they want to market a room like that fine, but be honest with people. I showed her the email confirmation - double bed, not a pull out couch, not a murphy bed. So I get a different room, go back upstairs...this room had people in it! Back downstairs. Next room was unoccupied, but I brushed my teeth and water came ROARING out the back of the sink, as of the pipe wasn't even hooked up. I threw a towel on it and went to sleep, told the concierge on my way out. I wasn't about to switch rooms yet again. the room we stayed in was so small the bed. there was no fridge or microwave in the room so if we went out you cant bring back any food because there is no where to store them. the lobby was always full of people, there is no parking again no parking if you want a valet parking its $45 a night for a valet parking. we have to drive around for about 20 […] to 30 minutes to find one. We checked in and were told we did not get the king bed we wanted? What they didn't tell us was we got a twin and the room (which we now call "the elevator room" ) was not much bigger than our walk-in closet at home, we couldn't control the temp. Unbelievably bad room. Tiny, but I can deal with that. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been updated since 1980. There was no bath, only a shower, and the tiles in it were filthy. We thought the rate was a deal, considering the location of the hotel. The room we booked was called "Petite" so we expected a small room. But we did not expect a room with a piece of toilet tissue floating in the bowl (did they clean it?), a cracked washing sink, a petite shower room in which you could barely turn around, and most of all, construction […] right at the next door, which started around 8am with Jack hammers, drills, and grinders. "Unsanitary - mattress was wet"
We had a horrific experience at this hotel. Discovered that the bed was moist and when we pulled back the sheets and mattress cover we discovered a big wet stain. We left the room immediately. A pretty disgusting experience. The front desk offered us another room as compensation which we declined but didn't seem more concerned. Maybe it's a common occurrence? […] I have never experienced something so horrible and disgusting. It ruined our stay and our weekend. "horrible experience"
Horel itself was good but the room was terrible. Even the bedsheets were not properly tucked in, infiact we later felt that they might had not been changed yuckk. The bathroom was the smallest we have ever used and by the way when we called at the reception to conform that we were promised for a 250 sq ft room then she replied that they have recently […] measured that room to be 250 sq ft. "An old hotel that needs to be updated"
TV didnt work when I arrived. View overlooked an alley. Tiny rooms. No wifi in the rooms. 6 hours of complementary wifi down in the lobby (which was crowded with people trying to do travel work on their laptops). Unofrtunately, I was unable to connect to the internet server from my room the 2 days I stayed here. Saturday evening, there was an all night party in the romm next to mine. If you enjoy the smell of mold and mildew in your bathroom/hotel room, this is the place for you. We called to have them come fix the tub while we were there because it was backing up but they never came. They still act like they are a much nicer hotel than they still are. "Incredibly outdated elevators!"
I had the fortunate experience of getting the "shaft" room, literally, right next to the very loud and outdated elevators. The front desk staff assured me that the elevators get turned off between 11pm-8am, but after repeated calls to the front desk with no results, I finally went down at 12:20pm and asked to be moved to another room. The hotel was […] fully booked, so all they had available was a room connected to a larger suite with a pullout couch. But honestly, compared to the sound of trains passing through my room (which is what those elevators sounded like), a pullout was far preferable. "Can't control the temp of your room"
Park Plaza is quaint and clean - but had one huge issue with it...temperature!! I understand that I typically run cold, but having to have the entire hotel decide whether or not hot or cold is available in the rooms is ridiculous. Spending what you do on this hotel you don't want to be getting into bed with your winter coat and socks on. Last night […] after calling multiple times to request my heater to be fixed, a kind maintenance worker let me know that due to the old systems, only air or heat could be available at one time. Apparently, tonight, it had been collectively decided to only make outside air available for guests. I was also told they were out of heaters and additional blankets. "Overpriced convenience"
The hotel was in a great location however the staff at the front desk was not friendly and the room was uncomfortable. The shower was tiny - and when I saw tiny I mean don't try to turn around too fast or you'll fall out. The tile in the bathroom was dirty and in need of repair. The room only had one double bed and shared a wall with the elevator which […] was old. Every time the elevator went up or down it sounded like a dump truck was going to come through the wall.
