"Scrappy For Price Point"
OK for a hotel. Not so good for the price point. The bathroom was worn out, where the faucet was loose, the tub was over-caulked, the door had rips in the bottom of it (peeled), and the paint was 4 coats deep. "Hard to find the entrance"
My hotel lobby and room was beautiful and clean. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The reason I gave lower rating was that the hotel was very difficult to find. I arrived at night and walked around the block until a cab driver stopped me and told me that I had to go through the parking garage. I would have tried that earlier but a sign on […] the parking garage said "do not enter". All I would have needed for a better experience would be a sign under the Hyatt logo sign that said "hotel guests enter this way" with an arrow. I kept circling the block thinking there was a another entrance I missed. Very frustrating. I would recommend this hotel to my friends once the construction is complete. "Hidden fees/perks - ask questions at check in"
I don't have anything bad to say about the hotel itself. My concerns are more management related. Upon check in we were never informed that we were allowed one free bottle of water per day (you have to call down to the desk to ask for it) and no one informed us on how the complimentary internet access worked so when we go to our rooms and tried to log […] on, it looked like we were only allowed 1 hour of complimentary access. Once I asked the front desk about it, they told me that i had to sign up for the $9.95/day plan and they would take it off my bill at the end of my stay. They also never mentioned that and 18% gratuity was included with our breakfast everyday. No wonder the servers were being so attentive considering we had been tipping an additional 20% before we found out about the 18%. And lastly, I believe in management that leads by example and after watching two of the managers belittle and embarrass one of their staff repeatedly, I have decided that Hyatt must not value the people that actually make the hotel work. There is nothing wrong with management treating their employees with respect and in fact it's a nice thing for guests to witness. These guys ruined the Hyatt experience for me. I stayed here while on a business trip two separate times with some travel in between. Both times the rooms were very clean and the hotel is well kept. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. The location was awesome, close to the T, near a lot of destinations and quick cab ride from airport. Only setback is there is no usable refrigerator in room. "Not the Meeting Hotel but the Location Rocks!"
We really enjoyed our time at the Hyatt Regency Boston. While we were in town partially to attend a meeting based at the Westin Waterfront, the location of the Hyatt could not have been better. It was an easy cab ride to the meeting, plus, its location right next to Chinatown meant that our food choices were amazing and far superior to anything that […] we could easily have gotten if located at the Westin. The staff and amenities of the Hyatt were amazing: they actually have a relatively nice, essentially real gym!...not to mention a sizable pool. The room was very comfortable and appeared clean - though I did find a toenail in the carpet when I move the footstool. The restaurant closed a little early for us - but that was because we were working an event and didn't get back until late. "Great location, not very family friendly, front desk could have been more helpful"
Hotel is in good location, convenient to transportation and lots of Boston activities. Room was small, nothing special. Lobby could use a makeover. We checked in close to check-in time but rooms weren't ready. I was travelling for business but brought family with me. I was eventually given a handicapped-accessible room and was told the only difference […] was that the room was larger and the shower head was detachable. However, I discovered when we got to the room that there was no tub, which wouldn't work with my two small children. So we had to move rooms. Then we were placed on a floor with a lot of airline personnel (flight attendants/pilots) and were repeatedly told to be quiet from other guests banging on our wall or knocking on the door - in the middle of the day -even though my children were not loud at all. Front desk staff could have been more knowledgable about their own rooms or placement of guests with small children on floors with daytime sleepers.
