"Scrappy For Price Point"
OK for a hotel. Not so good for the price point. The bathroom was worn out, where the faucet was loose, the tub was over-caulked, the door had rips in the bottom of it (peeled), and the paint was 4 coats deep. Beds were OK, but again for the price point they were sub-standard. Lastly, I could carry a conversation with the room next door or people in […] the hall without opening the door. Will not likely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"the simple things"
I have been staying at this location for the past 16 years when we go up to Boston (when it was the Swissotel) always liked it, and even when Hyatt took over, things were still ok. But the last few times we were here, we had nothing but problems with the room. Two yrs ago when we came up . We had issues with A/C units not working and toilet not flushing […] (of course in the middle of the night) .. This time we were up for only 1 night and the a/c didn't work. I love the parking underneath the building and easy access to my daughters college and the Commons, but if I stay there again I will ask in advance for my room to be checked ...bathroom a/c, heat etc or never again , to go there. "Dirty bathroom and hard bed"
Countertop in bathroom had hairs that did not belong to me or my companion. I noticed right away, called the front desk to inform them. By the time they sent someone in to clean, we had left for dinner. They came in to "clean" bathroom while we were out and still the hairs were left there. Not sure what they did to clean it but toilet paper was refolded […] at end when we returned from dinner. The bed was very hard. Not what I expected from the Hyatt. On a postive note, parking garage is attached to the hotel so very convenient and hotel is within walking distance to attractions. One more annoying thing is thee lobby is located on 3rd floor so you have to take elevator down to 3rd floor, walk across lobby, then take another elevator down to ground floor. "Great for sleeping only"
The front enterance was being renovated during our stay. Because the front enterance was tarped off, we needed to walk through the parkade to get to the hotel. While walking through the parkade, in fron of the hotel, a man was urinating on a pillar in the parkade, while 2 hotel employees seemed to not notice. We needed to take an elevator to the lobby. […] Then another elevator from the lobby to the floor. It was confusing and annoying. There were a lot of people waiting for the elevators. The bathroom was cramped, you had to pay extra for everything, including opening the refrigerator. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wouldn't recommend the suites for families"
We booked a suite so that we could put our 4 year old to bed and be able to stay up in another room to watch TV, etc. Unfortunately, there are glass french doors between the two rooms with only a sheer curtain to cover them. Additionally, the doors were floating nearly 2 inches off the ground. Both noise and light traveled freely into the bedroom, keeping […] our child awake when we had the television on. The staff did bring up heavy blankets to hang over the doors and this helped with the light but not the sound. The room did not have a full length mirror but did have a lot of wasted space. We had a difficult time fitting a cot in the bedroom. The staff was friendly, but I would prefer not to hear about their political beliefs as I am waiting for my car! "Hard to find the entrance"
My hotel lobby and room was beautiful and clean. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The reason I gave lower rating was that the hotel was very difficult to find. I arrived at night and walked around the block until a cab driver stopped me and told me that I had to go through the parking garage. I would have tried that earlier but a sign on […] the parking garage said "do not enter". All I would have needed for a better experience would be a sign under the Hyatt logo sign that said "hotel guests enter this way" with an arrow. I kept circling the block thinking there was a another entrance I missed. Very frustrating. I would recommend this hotel to my friends once the construction is complete. "Hidden fees/perks - ask questions at check in"
I don't have anything bad to say about the hotel itself. My concerns are more management related. Upon check in we were never informed that we were allowed one free bottle of water per day (you have to call down to the desk to ask for it) and no one informed us on how the complimentary internet access worked so when we go to our rooms and tried to log […] on, it looked like we were only allowed 1 hour of complimentary access. Once I asked the front desk about it, they told me that i had to sign up for the $9.95/day plan and they would take it off my bill at the end of my stay. They also never mentioned that and 18% gratuity was included with our breakfast everyday. No wonder the servers were being so attentive considering we had been tipping an additional 20% before we found out about the 18%. And lastly, I believe in management that leads by example and after watching two of the managers belittle and embarrass one of their staff repeatedly, I have decided that Hyatt must not value the people that actually make the hotel work. There is nothing wrong with management treating their employees with respect and in fact it's a nice thing for guests to witness. These guys ruined the Hyatt experience for me. "Under construction; Avoid until December"
OK, but not great for the price. They are rebuilding the lobby, so you need to go down two elevators to leave the hotel through the parking lot. Inconvenient. I would suggest going somewhere else until they are done in a month or so. Location is fine for business travelers, but it's in the financial district, so there are few restaurants or bars within […] easy walking distance. Not a great neighborhood for tourists. Two of the desk clerks didn't seem to know the neighborhood well, and one of them gave us incorrect directions. Had to leave the hotel each morning to get coffee. "Great but ruined by terrible Wi-Fi."
I stayed in room 612. The Wi-Fi connection in my room was terrible. It was so spotty and slow that it was functionally unusable. I had to resort to using the 3G service on my smartphone for the duration of my four-day stay. Everything else about the hotel was great; the service was prompt and friendly, the room was clean, and the location was ideal. […] Also, I have to give particular credit to a concierge who immediately refunded the money I spent on a 3-day Wi-Fi package when I informed her of the Wi-Fi situation. However, reliable Wi-Fi is absolutely imperative for me to give a hotel any kind of positive review. For me, in this day and age reliable Wi-Fi is a fundamental utility and its absence is unacceptable. Therefore, the best I can say is that my stay was "ok." Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Generally Decent"
LIKE: 1. Shined my shoes for free 2. Decent "4-star big chain hotel" type rooms Comfortable DISLIKE: 1. High priced parking that forces you to use the valet if you want to be able to go in and out. 2. When I called to confirm the hotel reservation a few days before, I was told that I would get a "city view" room. When I arrived at the hotel, the woman […] checking me in told me that they were very busy this weekend and she gave me the best room she could but there were no guarantees. When I asked her why I was told that I would be given a city view room just a few days before, she just basically repeated the same phrase like she was on auto-pilot. I didn't want to get into a whole Seinfeld-esque, you know how to take a reservation but you dont know how to HOLD a reservation thing. However, it was not courteous. 3. Phone in room was broken. 4. Insane overpriced menu items on the room service menu (to be expected though.) 5. On Sunday morning, they wouldn't bring me a Mamosa at 10 in the AM due to some archaic Puritanical policy of not being able to serve liquor before 11. In my book, champagne and orange juice is not liquor. Overall, was ok, we chose it just for the location. Response by Hyatt Regency Boston Starting on the positive note, this property is indeed ideally located for both business and pleasure. Once here, you are in the heart of downtown Boston, as well as a short walk from the subway (known locally as the "T") and South Station, which services trains and buses. As mentioned, there are some great dining options within walking distance however, we have an excellent restaurant and lounge on property. Our restaurant Avenue One is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the lounge is open after hours with a late-night menu. On top of that, we offer 24-hour in-room dining to all of our guests. Our main lobby is indeed located on the third floor. This is actually to the guest’s benefit, as we host many conferences and business meetings at the hotel. The dual elevators help to keep our lobby traffic limited to hotel guests only and even further, only the third floor elevators that can access the guest rooms and health club. Our health club is complementary to all of our guests and includes a 24-hour fitness center as well as a pool, sauna and steam room. Like most hotel pools, we do not have a Lifeguard on duty so we depend on our guest’s courtesy in following the posted rules. All children under the age of 16 are required to be accompanied by an adult. Our 24-hour security staff also makes frequent wellness checks in the health club.
