The Langham, Boston

This is a lovely grand old hotel, but frankly the renovations don't fit. The location kept us in walking distance of Quincy Market and the North End. The staff was lovely, and though we had a security issue during our stay - it was resolved quickly by the security staff. The satellite television was malfunctioning badly during the first night of our […] stay, and we had no signal on most channels. That situation improved the following night, but was not completely resolved. Our room service breakfast was lovely, but the coffee was undrinkably bitter. The rooms and common areas are impeccibly kept and helpful staff abound. The food and service at the Bond restaurant were quite good, but the decor, including a wide screen TV are completely out of place in such an elegant room. Recent renovations have included an attempt to be trendy and ultra modern. This beautiful building deserved a more thoughtful and tasteful renovation. Read more

Was looking for something that was in between the Commons and Long Wharf and this was on Franklin Street. It was a great location, clean, and they upgraded our room to a king for free. Very good customer.

Our room was on the third floor, across from the elevators- noise from the hall was constant, the door also allowed light to enter the room to the point of affecting our sleep. My wife piled towel around the door to stop the hallway light. We kept the AC Fan on to mask the sound coming from neighboring rooms.

I had a great stay at the Langham in Boston. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel lobby is in the midst of a major renovation which will be a great improvement. I am looking forward to returning at the completion of the renovations.

I really enjoyed our room at the Langham, as well as the service provided by the staff. The room was a great size, and the turndown service was nice. The spa, pool and workout facilities looked amazing although we never used them. The one negative for me was that the lobby was undergoing construction that I was unaware of when we booked. This is the second time we've stayed here. The room are very nice and they keep them in tip top shape. The staff are outstanding except for the staff serving breakfast. Between the 2 times we stayed here, we ate breakfast at the hotel 3 times. The service from the staff serving breakfast all 3 times was well below par. They rarely checked with us. We […] always had to ask for more coffee instead of having check on us. It was like we were being ignored all 3 times (unlike everywhere else in the hotel where they could not have been more helpful). The prices at breakfast are also high. I recommend you just find another place in the area to eat breakfast. Quicy MArket is very close by and you certainly have a lot to shoose from there, they just don't have a high end atmosphere. Also, be prepared to pay for internet service. I would think that for the price you pay to stay here you would get complimentary internet service, but you don't. Other than these 2 things, this is an outstanding hotel. If we had just skipped eating breakfast here, I would have given them a higher mark. Read more

This hotel provided an adult stay for us. Usually we stay in big chain hotels and have to share the ambiance with families with small children. At the Langham, we enjoyed the poolside whirlpool alone and the atmosphere that included adults exclusively.

After our quick cat naps, we headed out to dinner, got a great recommendation from the concierge, who even got us reservations. Everyone at the hotel knew our names as soon as we were checked in, and greeted us by name each time we walked through the lobby. We ended our night there at Bond for cocktails. The staff at the Langham managed to be both extremely professional and extremely warm and personable at the same time. The lobby is grand and elegant, the desk staff, bellmen and doormen went out of their way to accommodate our every desire from the moment we walked in - great first impression that continued throughout our stay. I requested a park view and they were able to accommodate by upgrading us to a corner room that was quiet and extremely comfortable. The room wasn't ready on arrival as we landed mid-morning, so the desk agent promised to call my cell as soon as the room was ready, which he did faithfully (and it was still well before normal check-in time). The room was lovely - bathrooms were modern and elegant, bed was sumptuous. The Spa/pool area was very nice, we received some excellent spa treatments. We had only two minor complaints. One is that the Housekeeping staff called our room one afternoon when we were napping even though we had our DND sign out and I had already personally spoken with a housekeeper, telling her specifically that we might not want service that day. That is a pet peeve of mine - Do Not Disturb should apply to everyone, ESPECIALLY the Housekeeping staff! Also, we were really excited to partake of the famous and elaborate Sunday brunch. The setting and service were exceptional - it was holiday time and there were carolers and a Santa and the decor was lovely. Also, the sheer variety and amount of options was staggering. However, the quality and flavor of the food itself was actually a bit disappointing! It was kind of shocking considering how much care was clearly placed into creating all these dishes from scratch, in house, and the elaborate presentation - it looked as though it would be the meal of a lifetime, and yet despite a few bright spots, the flavor of most of the dishes was a bit underwhelming. We also booked deep tissue massages for 2:30 so we arrived at 2:00 and even though the check in was not until 3:00 there was not even a hesitation at the front desk that we arrived early. Everything was wonderful at this hotel especially the Sunday Brunch. So much good food. We will be coming back to this hotel again

We really enjoyed the hotel and all it had to offer. The room was very comfortable and the hotel itself is very nice with some great history inside. The only thing that bothered me was when we checked in they said breakfast was complimentary in the morning. When I went to check out they did not honor that and said it was because we booked the hotel through hotels.com. Low and behold I paid $60 for breakfast for two. We were pleasantly greeted by the doorman, the front desk staff, and bellman. Despite the fact that this is a very elegant hotel, staff were unpretentious and made us feel welcome, like a part of the family. The hotel is within walking distance of all Boston's attractions: the waterfront warfs, Boston Commons, etc. The only beef we have is the shock […] of an unexpected $45 a day fee for auto vallet service. We opted out of the service and actually found a parking structure around the corner from the hotel for $35 a day...we were told by hotel staff that it was higher. We later discovered that there are even less expensive parking structures a few blocks away from the hotel. Although we had a car, one is not necessary in Boston. Read more

I decided to indulge my wife for her birthday by surprising her with a memorial day weekend stay at the Langham Hotel in Boston. The weekend could not have gone any better. The Hotel was excellent with great service, timely room service, fantastic restaurant and great access to Fanuil Hall and other locations.
