"Charges for Everything"
The hotel was nice, but the rates were EXPENSIVE. If you fleece me on hotel rates, then I shouldn't have to pay: 1) $50 a day for parking, 2) $12.95 a day for internet access, 3) No fridge in the room (in a SUITE, nonetheless!), 4) Tiny bathroom, no jaccuzziGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff were not very friendly and cut-in in front of us when we were in line to check it. No ink in the printer at Concierge. Bathrooms had no extraction fans and are very small. "Disappointing!"
Our 1st room had a leaking toilet flooding the floor. The second room's (requiring us to move ourselves) TV remote did not work. There was a minimal supply of towels and no body lotion or bathrobe (even Best Western's provide these items for half the price). At 12:30 AM a fight broke out in the hallway and the noise went on for ten minutes until we […] called the front desk and security finally ended it. (Great caliber of guests!) When the front desk clerk asked how our stay was at check-out, I replied, "Not so good." She seemed unable to think of something appropriate to say, e.g. "I'm so sorry" or "Let me let you speak to our manager about your concerns, etc." Instead she had a blank stare and then smiled and said, "Have a nice day." Westin is no longer what it used to be and it certainly doesn't provide Ritz Carlton customer service! "Too Many Dogs"
This Westin is taking the "pet friendly" concept way too far. Dogs in the rooms, dogs in the lobby, dogs being carried around everywhere inside this place. "Warm room, poor management"
Hotel is beautiful. Staff is courteous and quick. Room was hot and stuffy. Set the thermostat to 65. Room never went below 72. I called on three separate occasions with no relief. Spent two restless nights trying to sleep in warm room. Spoke to a manager on the phone to explain my situation. She thought that reversing my parking fee was just compensation […] for two uncomfortable nights in the hotel. I did not. She hung up on me. The second manager I spoke with, offered me a 1000 points on my membership card. This would entitle me to a free night in a lesser property. I did not see how that was fair either. I declined that also. With so many quality hotels in the Back Bay of Boston, I believe I will be staying elsewhere next week when I return. "Overrated and in need of a new staff"
While the location of the hotel and the rooms themselves are quite good, the staff at this hotel makes it a quick pass for me in the future. The sign out front said valet parking was full, but it was not. The valet retrieval took upwards of a half an hour. The bell captain put my luggage in the wrong room and then argued with me about it for twice the […] time it would have taken to just retrieve the luggage. The luggage was ultimately in the wrong room, but the bellman just said it was the fault of the front desk. The front desk has no authority over the luggage service. The front desk had me booked in two double rooms when I reserved one room with a king. The lounge plays this lousy dance music that will send you into therapy. It just continues on and on. And, I am a Starwood Preferred Guest. At Westin Copley, that will get you nothing. I hate this hotel and I never want to recommmend to people because they did not prepare the room over P.M 3:30. "Not Horrible But NOT Worth It"
This is the second time I have stayed at the Westin. Both times I have found the hotel lacking in hospitality. The first time it was my husband and I staying for a night out. The front desk staff was standoffish and not very helpful. This time I was with my husband and 2 children, and I felt as if it was a mistake to bring the children there. I chose […] the Westin because of the kids club, but when I inquired as to the backpacks full of activities, I was given a blank stare and told they don't have anything like that. I expected more for the price. The rooms were average as was the food. The entry and lobby are very impressive, but it seems as if that is where they are spending the extra they charge you for your room. The light switches in the entry way and the bathroom were filthy. Lamps had at least one month's worth of dust on them. The clock radio did not work. The remote […] control for the TV was filthy and, while there was the usual note on a hanger in the closet warning the customer to not steal the beautiful fluffly bathrobe provided by the Westin, there was actually no bathrobe on the hanger (or anywhere else in the room). This hotel is in a great location and carries a brand name with a brand-name pricetag. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. (1) The room was clearly not vacuumed or dusted in ages, as any time we walked along the carpet we would kick up a cloud of dust, (2) the room stank of old cigarette smoke, (3) while Wi-Fi access is extra, they charge […] you PER DEVICE which they only spell out in extra-fine print, and (4) the staff did not really seem interested in making our stay pleasant as they did not ask or care if we needed any help or assistance. The standard guest room was relatively small despite having a king bed, and the bathroom was tiny so that two adults could not fit in there at the same time. "Westin Copley Hotel, Boston MA"
They are doing construction in some on their rooms and don't bother to mention it to you when you check -in. We had banging and drilling from 9:00am to 5:00pm the two days we stayed there and all sorts of noises the whole night. We mentioned it to the Hilton Staff and they did nothing about it. "Very bad conciege service"
Everything was great except for a restaurant recommendation from the concierge. that was catastrophic. We asked for a familly frendly italian restaurant and they send us to a very expensive, average food, average service place that to top the bad experience charge an automatic 18% tip without notes on the menu (and we were only four). When we asked […] why, they said it was a state regulation (totally false) .
