From its hills to its sidewalks, the stars are everywhere in Hollywood. Although most film and TV production today takes place in Burbank, Hollywood retains its mystique. The elite are commemorated with stars on the Walk of Fame and cement handprints at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. The Hollywood & Highland Center shopping and entertainment venue includes the Kodak Theatre, home of the Oscars.

The Dunes Inn Hollywood is conveniently located to many of the attractions in Hollywood. Parking and wireless internet are free. Our room was clean and comfortable. The furnishings are a little dated, but the bathroom has been updated very nicely. We were very happy with our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"dunes review"
This property is great if you want to be close to the entertainment venues in Hollywood and aren't spending more than two nights. The lobby staff were courteous and very helpful. The downsides are the noisy surroundings (Sunset Blvd. in general) and our room was poorly ventilated. Other than that, I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Conveniently located..."
The room had some updates, but the mattresses need replaced. It was clean and located close to the main attractions. Only downfall was no microwave in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient in LA"
If you are looking for a place just to crash with no frills, this is your place. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was small but very clean. We were only in the room at night to sleep and shower so it was perfect for us. It is very close to the 101 freeway and near the heart of all things Hollywood. We would stay here again, as long […] as it was just for sleeping. If you are looking for a resort style hotel, this is NOT the place for you. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value for the area."
Good hotel in nice condition for the area. Can be a bit noisy. Has lots of younger people staying thus lots of activity.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Noise Noise Noise"
Don't stay at Dunes unless you plan on not sleeping. This place was party central on Saturday night, and I was kept awake until 4am. Even the next night wasn't much quieter, as the walls are paper thin. Also the restaurant/lounge is not open weekends??? Apparently even their own folks don't want to deal with the riff raff. Nice rooms, convenient location […] and decent price did not make up for all this. In fact, those are probably the reasons for all of it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Road warriors on a budget"
Convenient location, rooms were surprisingly well maintained /upgraded compared to what you would expect from the exterior. The attached lounge/diner has good food and friendly service.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Don't stay here"
The worst place I've stayed at, very dirty, staff not helpful at all. There were hookers outside my room, no iron, terrible place.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cross country adventure"
Front desk Staff-Curtis was so accommodating and friendly. He even suggested cool places to visit in Hollywood. The food was great at the restaurant nearby and offered 10% discount on hotel guest. It's most convenient and everything is close by. Overall experience was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not great"
I'll give it two stars (one for parking and one because the room was relatively clean), but this place had me frustrated from the moment I checked in. They required a $100 hold on my credit card even though I had already paid for the room upfront. The restaurant/bar/lounge that they advertise (and one of the reasons I picked this particular hotel) is […] actually closed all weekend. The walls were incredibly thin; I hardly got any sleep because I was next to a room of drunken Australian men. There was also an ashtray outside of my non-smoking room, so people would congregate there to smoke. The blinds were actually shutters which did not close all the way, so lights and shadows were let into the room all night. The towels were tiny and worn. The tv channels were primarily in other languages, and the HBO they claim to have, came in fuzzy and hard to watch. And the heater would only blast warm air for 30 seconds about once every 20-30 minutes, so I had to take the blankets off the 2nd bed and use them on mine as well. If you want something better in the same price range, I preferred Hollywood Hotel (a little out of the way, but big, clean rooms and a free breakfast buffet) and Hollywood Celebrity Hotel (which is walking distance to all the action.) Nothing spectacular but for the condition and location, the price is right and would stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Updated rooms, yet need updated furniture & linen."
While the updating of the actual room is superb, the things in it need definite replacing. The bathroom & sink area looks brand new. The bed was hard as a rock, the pillow almost nonexistent & the linens paper thin (towels & sheets). Location wasn't where I expected. I don't think much of anything is in walking distance.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Don't Stay Here"
We've come to expect certain things in travel accommodations, and when those things aren't a part of the service, we're disappointed. For instance -- friendly customer service (the clerk was surly); coffeemaker in the room (none); towels that aren't strips of cloth (the worst towels we've ever encountered in a hotel); a continental breakfast (an overpriced […] cafe). If the price was as low as the service, that would be one thing, but the price is such that you would expect the services above to be provided. No such luck here. In addition, the mattress was cheap and uncomfortable; the lighting in the room was horrible (no lamps); and just all around, a not so good experience. Don't waste your money. You'll be unhappy here. "It was just ok."
This was an ok stay for the night. We were staying the night because we had a show to see on Hollywood Blvd. The location was good. No blow dryer or coffee maker. The water glasses were plastic cups. The tv was a tube type with very limited channels, not even local stations were available to watch the news.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good Hotel for a short stay"
The hotel has been renovated and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The air conditioners are new and work well. Overall the Dunes is a good hotel - it is a little pricey for what you get, but I guess that pricey is to be expected in the Hollywood area.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient location"
I stayed in this hotel for one night in August 2012. It's in a busy and noisy part of town, and I asked for a room away from the street. The room I got was not as far toward the back as I had hoped but the windows were double-pane and I had no trouble sleeping. They could do more to remove gum and stains from the stairway and parking lot, but other […] than that it was O.K. Had a nice breakfast in the restaurant next door. "Rooms at Dunnes a ok in L.A"
Very basic and clean, we were using this just as a place to stop and rest our heads, the following morning we met the owner of the Dunnes who was a very charming and flattering man. It was a good location to acess all of the sights we wanted to see in our short trip in L.A Cheers for breakfast Donny Liza Minelli and Marylin Monroe!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nothing Fancy but Clean and Does the Job!"
The staff was courteous and polite. This hotel is perfect if you just want a room to crash at. Nothing fancy. Towels could use a little help. Overall, clean, safe, well lit and free parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Ok Stay"
Overall the stay was ok. Check in was fast and easy however come check out time I was advised we should have been given a remote control for the TV which is what they use to check you in... getting the hotel to call a cab seemed to be an inconvenience to the clerk. Room was clean and conveniently close to Hollywood Bowl and Hollywood Blvd.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Noise"
I have stayed many times in the past but had stopped because of the condition of the rooms. They recently remodeled and did a great job, everything was done first class. The only negative that they can not fix is the noise from Sunset Blvd but I will still stay there again now that they have fixed up the rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"My stay at the Dune on 13 June 2012"
It's on Sunset across from Home Depot and next to a strip mall with a coin laundry, 7/11 and Burger King. It's not in the most scenic part of town but it's close enough to everything happening in Hollywood or the nearby areas that it won't be such a chore to get there and it's very close to the 101 Freeway. There is free parking and free wifi, which […] is great. That alone at other hotel/motels could add as much as $30.00+ to your bill. Not being surprised by these additional charges is great because personally I get ticked off when I have to pay for parking & wifi on top of the room charge and not find out about these charges until I'm looking at the registration clerk face to face. The grounds were clean. The room was clean. The linen was clean and fresh. The television and refrigerator worked. The furniture is a bit worn but not to the point of just being trash. The area was quiet (despite the surroundings and being on Sunset Blvd, and (last but not least) the door locked. If you're on a budget, and only need a room to sleep in this is a clean and safe option. It could be a bit less expensive but I'm sure there is an additional cost for being centrally located and in Hollywood. Definitely, give a strong 3 of 5. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This hotel is great for a place to stay when visiting a local landmark. A place to lay your head for the night. The bathroom was clean and the hotel looks freshly painted and well maintained. It's not five start luxury but it does well for a quick overnight stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I When we stayed in this Hotel, it smells like a newly painted room. We understand that they are doing some renovations which is good. It's clean and I suggest that they should change the color of the bed cover, somethings nice, clean and looks classy. I suggest plain color.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Basic no frills motel that is clean and does the job. Nothing fancy but for the price is was clean and better than a lot of cheap motels in the Hollywood area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable"
This hotel was undergoing renovations while we were staying but did not effect our stay. The rooms were fine, nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. Free parking is great if you have a car. We did not drive so had to rely on the subway to get around which was around 2 blocks away. It was not really close to the Hollywood Bld action, he caught the […] subway 2 stops to get into the heart of it. A number of food take away options within walking distance which was goos as well as the cafe at the hotel. I probably would stay at a hotel closer to Hollywood Bld if this was my first trip to Hollywood but we were there as a stop over back to Australia so it was good for the price. "One of the cheapest motel near hollywood"
The hotel is still undergoing renovation. Across the road can take bus about 6 to 10 mns to reach hardrock cafe. However, the street seems unsecure to me. So ended up we decided to drive. Parking is free at this motel however the street and garage parking are half an hour $2. Highland centre parking is slightly cheaper and if you ate at the hardrock […] cafe, you get to validate $2 off. We park there for 3 hours, parking cost us $4. The room is neat however we stay at ground floor, so been awaked up by the walking sound by the above floor people at 1 to 2am. Maybe is because the motel building structure is old. Free simple breakfast is good for us after a night stay. Consider quite good for the rate as nearby all motels are quite expensive. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not too bad for the price"
Not too bad for the price and location. First of all, keep in mind that you're in Hollywood ... Well, at least 1 block away from Hollywood Blvd. Check in went smoothly, however, the clerk was storing an image of my ID and credit card, which made me a little nervous considering that it's never happened before (to my knowledge due to the risk associated […] with information storage). Anyway, I traveled with another girlfriend and felt safe there. Parking: free! & well lit Customer service: no issues. Great people Room: a few updates, older beds, new shutters, new sink Tv: didn't watch Noise: streets were a little loud, but it didn't bother us too much. We could hear the person above us walking around in their room but couldn't hear voices anywhere else. Other: there was a tiny Gap on the bottom of the door which mentally bugged me (small enough to allows bugs to get into the room). They provide you with plenty of towels for 2, soap, and shampoo. Check out was smooth. there was a restaurant in the hotel, but we ddint eat there since there were tons of restaurants close by. If you're looking for something in this price range, this inn isn't too bad for the price. If you're picky and have high expectations, I say pay the extra $50 for a better place. "Great location, good motel"
I really enjoyed my stay at the Dunes. The location is perfect, the attached lounge/bar/restaurant is really nice, no complaints about cleanliness or anything else. My only complaint is that the only lights in the room were fluorescent, which I find really depressing. There's not even a single table lamp to turn on for some soft light. But other than […] that no complaints. My room was inexpensive but still a nice size, and there was a refrigerator, etc. There was always plenty of parking in the Dunes lot. Definitely recommended.
