The hotel is in a great location if you are interested in seeing the boulevard. We took the train to Universal studios which was so easy because the train station is steps from the hotel. Very easy to use and get to and from different locations in LA if you don't want to drive. We saw a movie premier at the El Capitan theater across the street. An amazing […] iconic theater and worth the price. The hotel is a bit dated but the beds are very comfortable and the rooms were clean. I would stay there again just for the comfort. The people at the front desk were helpful and very nice. Our last morning we went for a hike in Runyan Canyon. It is a bit more than half a mile to get there from the hotel, but a really nice hike with different trails for varying levels of ability (easy to challenging). Check in was a breeze. When I got into my room, there was no shower curtain. When I called to have it replaced, someone came up within minutes to replace it. "Tiny beds!"
The hotel itself was nice. The "Queen" size beds were Tiny. Oversized twins. We usually get a king sized bed room simply because my husband is 6'5" and it's more comfortable. When we do have another guest with us we get 2 queen (as was the case here) and are fine. I had to take the ottoman and chair from the room and put pillows on it just in case I […] fell off the bed because it was so narrow. That was NOT a queen bed. From the arrival at the Valet to our departure after breakfast this was an excellent hotel. I stayed here 4-5 years ago when it was the Renaissance. It is stil a lovely hotel with great service. Our rooms were nicely appointed with really cool, hip furniture! The bed was comfortable, night stand lamps with built in outlets for charging my phone overnight […] is a great touch. We were there for an overnight stay after seeing a show at the Greek. But we got in early in the afternoon with time to walk along Hollywood Blvd to take in the sights. We are LA locals, but didn't want to drive home after a late show. This was the perfect solution. Preston's Restaurant is really quite lovely. We didn't try the breakfast buffet (at twenty-four dollars) but rather ordered off the menu. My veggie frittata was absolutely tasteless. There was no seasoning in it; I couldn't add enough salt without threatening my high blood pressure. My friend's Eggs Benedict were excellent. Overall highly recommend this hotel. Parking at the self park was a LONG walk to the hotel through the mall and other HUGE tourist attractions. It would be best to drop off luggage at the front door and then self park. This hotel has mixed ratings from me. We paid a lot of money to stay here and for what we paid I don't think the hotel was up to the standards. The pool was lovely and a nice extra that we used one day. No complaints here. The room was clean but some parts of it could be cleaner. The beds were very comfortable with nice bedding. These were supposed […] to be changed after our third night there but they weren't, this didn't bother us but some people may be put off by this. The location is an odd one, its right over the road from a few shops that are quite pricey but are very near. A two minute walk and you are on Hollywood Boulevard which has a CVS Pharmacy on which is cheaper than the other shops nearer the hotel. There are many different bus tours here offering to take you around the star homes and up to the Hollywood sign. Other than that the location wasn;t fantastic for us. Although using the public transport wasn't took difficult. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel to people who like to stay in expensive hotels and don't expect amazing things. Otherwise I wouldn't stay here again especially since we paid alot of money for 4 nights stay. It hasn't been the best hotel on our trip and i was certainly the most expensive! "Blood on the ceiling at Loews"
My husband and I were travelling with another couple, the first morning of our stay, my husband noticed blood spray on the ceiling and the surrounding curtains. As I got up to examine the ceiling for myself, we also noticed blood on the linen that we were asleep on! In disgust and shock, we packed our bags and called hotel management. "Perfect location for main sites & shopping"
This hotel exceeded all expectations. Location is perfect. Located just next to Hollywood Blvd, it is situated right next to a shopping/eating complex. From there you have the Blvd which is just a walk away. It is just 15 mins drive away from Universal Studios & approx 15-20 mins away from many shopping destinations/outlets. When checking in, we were […] given the option to upgrade to a suite that was very spacious for 3 people, which gave us access to a Club lounge (with free breakfast and wifi, mags/tv, coffee). We also had the perfect view of the Hollywood sign from our hotel room. The only thing I can fault is when we were given the option to upgrade our room to a suite, this would include in-room internet and breakfast at the hotel restaurant. We used these services as we thought it was included in the upgrade. However, this was not the case. It was not made clear to us that the free breakfast and internet was in the Club Lounge only. We therefore had to pay for these services on top of the upgrade! The hostess however was nice enough to waive the internet charges when we brought this to their attention. We decided to go for a more upmarket hotel so we picked the Renaissance. The room was fabulous, the staff were friendly and it was centrally located right next to the Chinese Theatre.
