We had a last minute change of plans and ended up heading to Hollywood instead of Santa Monica. The old, dark history of the Roosevelt was great and our teens especially enjoyed being directly across from the Chinese theatre and the Red Carpet! This hotel caters to a younger crowd but my husband and I enjoyed our stay none the less. This hotel is quite beautiful and close to many attractions. The food and drinks were wonderful but pricey, so be prepared. Staff is very nice and will work to make sure you are comfortable.

I got a very good deal on my room AND they upgraded it when I was there! Everything was great. The only thing I have to complain about is the $150 charge they hold for each night of your stay for incidentals which nowhere was stated when I booked my stay.

We enjoyed the stay. Perfect location for Hollywood and visits to local fun places. Also learned a bit of history while we were there. The original Oscars were held in that hotel for instance. Only unpleasant detail was that our room was on the 3rd floor and the "view" was of the roof with it's motors and structures!

The hotel stay was amazing! The rooms were contemporary with alot of space. The pool area was amazing and the in hotel entertainment had plenty a club. The club is located in the heart of Hollywood and directly across from the Red and Blue lines. Definitely worth the stay.

Not to quality standard of Thompson Hotels. Worn out mattress, very low quality toweling and minimal amenities. In addition, on the night I stayed, the hotel closed the lobby to their guests for a private event. Isn't that what special event ball rooms are for? Will not stay there again.

Our heater was broken, repair man showed up at 4:30 am to fix. Stayed 66 degrees till 6 am, musty smell, old rooms, no bathroom counter space, just not worth the money. The pictures online are misleading. Go to a holiday inn. This place sucks.

Amazing location, just across Madame Tussauds, Hard Rock and the big old Hollywood white sign on the mountain. One complaint is the size/space and furnishing/condition of the room. It's an old hotel and it shows, despite the extensive renovation. The walls are very, very dark and it almost feels danky and seedy, dare I say cheap. The overall feeling was a little bit repressing because of the dark tones and lack of light. Needs TLC. Headboard & room divider have needed dusting - for a while. Bathroom door didn't latch or lock. Glass tops need glass cleaner. Window sheer wouldn't fully close. Room large, bed comfortable, staff pleasant.

This is definitely a party hotel. If you are under 25 this would probably be a great place. The location was a bonus since you are right on Hollywood Boulevard. Fair warning, you have to wait in a line for everything. We waited for valet, we waited for check in, we waited for the bell hop (I ended up taking my own bags just to get out of the crowd). […] We were supposedly upgraded to a "Garden Room." This overlooked the pool (closes at 3 and becomes the bar area - not actually for swimming) and the bar so we got to hear the party the entire night. Also, it was completely detached from the main hotel so you had to go through a maze of hallways, stairwells, and ramps just to get out of the hotel. The bartender (after I waited in that line) tried to talk me into a different drink. In my opinion if you serve me a $22 drink it should come in a glass, not a plastic cup. The rooms look like the low end of an Ikea store (I guess they think this passes for mid century modern). And unless you like platform beds (sleeping on the floor) forget it. You are paying for location, and the staff knows it. I had no problem tipping very well, but the hotel goes overboard with charging for EVERYTHING on top of the nightly rate. If you want a party hotel where you can easily drop a couple grand just to tip your way through the night and get a couple drinks (hotel cost not included) and be treated like crap, then this is the place for you. Great classic Hollywood Hotel. We were offerred an upgrade at check-in & informed it overlooked the pool, which could be loud at night due to the nightclub, but with the sliding door closed, didn't bother us at all. Great hotel, though I regret the complimentary upgrade to a cabana room with a balcony that overlooks the pool. Awesome room though we had rowdy neighbors and there is a bar poolside that is noisy.
