The ornate Spanish Colonial lobby of the Hollywood Roosevelt houses a corner bar next to a European-style restaurant. I booked the hotel to have a pool where I could swim. Nobody mentioned and the web site did not let on that on weekends there is absolutely no way to swim in the pool. There were mob scenes of high heeled, bikini clad women and tattooed men, all of whom were drunk and screaming and laughing loudly, all weekend. "Famiies - need not apply"
If you are single, or a couple looking for action, booze and drugs - definitely stay at the Hollywood Roosevelt! It was party central at the pool all afternoon and night. It was applauling! A hotel of this calibar catering to outsiders versus their own clients. If you looked good, you were permitted entrance to the pool. Also, customer service means […] nothing to the reservation office - we booked our rooms 4 months ahead of time with 2 stipulations: 3 rooms close to each other with view of the city. Indeed our rooms were close but our view was of a parking lot and air conditionings units of the hotel, I don't call that a city view. One room was for 3 people but the room given permitted only 1 person to walk at a time through the room. Closet - interior was painted in black with no light - so you couldn't see your cloths; bathroom - room to put 1 small shaving gear bag and if you took 2 steps, you would fall into the shower. This was my first time staying in this hotel. I found it to have a great atmosphere, our room was large (had two double beds) and it was incredibly quiet. "Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel"
If you want to see Hollywood, this hotel is ideally situated -- walking distance to just about everything. My only complaint is the noise. We had asked for a quiet room but apparently there aren't any on a Saturday night. The air conditioning in the room was faulty and the room was too hot. After reporting the problem, an engineer came fairly quickly but after several attempts was unable to fix it and said it would take 2 to 3 hours to fix.He said that we could move to another room but since we were checking out within a few hours we compromised and accepted his offer […] of a stand alone fan which he quickly provided. We like older hotels so the character of this hotel appealed to us. The staff was very accomodating. The room was a little small and had an unappealing view of the roof. "Perfect location for a family holiday weekend"
The Hotel Roosevelt was the perfect location for my family over the Thanksgiving Holiday and the PERFECT place to stay to view the Hollywood Christmas Parade. "On hollywood blvd, dirty, poor service."
I booked the room for 4 and paid accordingly. What I got was a small room with two queen beds and amenities for 2. Had to request extra towels 3 times before they arrived. Asked for a roll-away bed. The clerk explained that the rooms were so small that it would be impossible. The room was old, looked like some things had been upgraded, but the room […] was very dirty, basically a small room for two, where they had added a second queen bed. Absolutely no room to move around. They offer a in-out parking service for $30, but the parking service does not work at all. Multiple requests/complaints to the Front Mgr did nothing but aggrevate the situation ('I can not do anything' was his best quote). Overall service at this hotel is at 1-2 stars at best. there was no hot tub, and the pool had no available seating because it was a party there every day allowing people in there that were not even staying at the hotel. Absolutely redicilous when you want to get away and relax. You cant even enjoy the pool. "Perfect location near all the action"
Stay was all right. Air-conditioning was not functioning properly and opening the window (on the 4 th floor) was no alternative because of the loud noise from the hotel airco. Lounge was good. We chose this so called iconic hotel because of write ups in guide books and its location on Hollywood Boulevard (the only recommendable factor). The aircon in our room made a terrible noise each time it was switched on. The weather was cool so we decided to keep it switched off the entire stay.
