The Aspen is a nice botique sized hotel in a good location on Soi to and walking distance to Nana area Soi 4 and BTS.I've stayed quite afew times at the Aspen before. This is a conveniently located service apartment in Bangkok. The room is good for the rate and staff is helpful. "Ok, but nothing special"
The rooms are modern and well furnished and good size. Unfortunately, the upkeep on the rooms is low and thus there are chips and scratches on everything. The bathroom, esp the tub, needs to be redone. But . I the rooms are the best quality of the hotel. The entire hotel smells like an ashtray. I got moved to a non-smoking room and it still smelled […] of stale smoke. The "lobby" and common areas are a dark and dated. The service for the most part was fine-not great, but not so bad. The free shuttle did not work,but there was still a sign up advertising it. Room service did not exist, I was told to come pick up my own food, but there was a room service menu in the room. The hotel had no taxi stand or shuttle of its own, so it used the one across the street whom overcharge greatly. I was told at the hotel that they are aware of this overcharging, but.... The one person whom was must disagreeable and unhelpful was the female manager. Most unpleasant-a lot of smiling and nodding, but really no help at all. "Aspen Suites The Best Hotel in Bangkok"
When I visit Bangkok, I never stay in the same hotel for over 5 days. My visits are usually 3 weeks long. On this trip my first reservation was at the Citadine 8. The bed was rock hard, powere kept shutting off in the room every hour, the room layout was not funtional. Needless to say I check out brite and early the next day. That's when I found Aspen […] Suites. Seeing that I just left a very uncomfortable night, I was in no mood for a repeat situation. Aspen Suites did not disappoint me at all. The room was beautiful. Nice open floorplan. Wonderful full kitch space with a full size refridgerator. Housekeeper Thiffny, was there to keep my room clean and supply me with any thing I ever needed. She is a wonderful person as well as very professional. When ever I order room service, Mhai was always there for me with everything I asked for.Again, Mhai was very professional. Yuth, my Tuk Tuk driver & maintance man, was also very helpful & resourceful. Yuth, also went grocery shopping with me to help me find all the groceries I was in knew of. I recently stayed at a 5 star resort and spa hotel near the beach in San Diego. I travel a lot but was not really impressed with my overall stay--a ripoff, really. To our delight, it lived up to everything listed and went far above in the hospitality shown by this hotel. Aspen Suites is a decent place to stay but should not be rated 4 stars. There are several places in the area that are much nicer it just depends how much your willing to spend. I caught this one on sale so it was okay, but i wouldn't pay full price. The checkin service wasn't too great and no one asked if i wanted help with my bags. Got to the room […] and couldn't get inside and had to walk back down. That is why staff should take your bag and walk you to the room in the first place. The location is okay and close to the nightlife. The tuk tuk is available most of the time so you need not walk if it's too hot. We found this hotel on the Expedia site and it seemed to be what we were looking for in an hotel and this proved to be the case. On our return to Bangkok, we again decided that as we had gotten to know the area, we would be happy to go back to the same place. A free tuk tuk took us to the main shopping area where it was only a short walk to the skytrain. […] It was only two stops from the Siam shopping complex and another two stops to BKH or whatever shopping centre. Both places are lots of fun. The pool looked as if it needed to be cleaned the entire time I was there. Specifically there was alge at the waterline that needed to be removed. I understand this is the tropics and alge is common but this was there the entire time and I was there for 12 nights. We booked Aspen purely based on reviews, being in Bangkok for the first time. The hotel lobby was a bit of a disappointment - small and certainly not of a 4* rating. We were concerned about the rest of the hotel after having seen the lobby and tiny pool, and the dim room-corridors. But once in our room, we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are large, […] well appointed, clean. We had a large separate wardrobe area, a kitchen area and the bedroom with a LCD TV. The rooms were spic and span clean, and the bathrooms were great too. We had free wifi in the rooms (run by a LAN cable, not wireless). Only thing is they did not fill up the complementary tea / coffee sachets in the rooms each day. Rooms were cleaned well and after a long day out, it was a refreshing place to come back to. The hotel is about a 10-15 min walk to the main Sukumvit road. There is a complementary tuk tuk shuttle from the hotel to the main road every few mins, so that was a bonus. Once on Sukumvit, its very busy as you land right in the Nana area. The hotel to our pleasant surprise also gave us a complementary 1/2 day tour in Bangkok!
