One of the oldest districts in Bangkok, Yaowarat operates as an authentic, living/working Chinatown. Offering a high concentration of gold and pawn shops, the main thoroughfare of Yaowarat Road is also the place to tempt the palate with a variety of Chinese delicacies. Sampeng Lane is renowned for textiles, and the Thieves Market is antique heaven.

Lobby area looks fine; rooms are below average. Pool area is the nicest part. Enjoyed daily breakfast. Don't waste your money with internet, it is extremely expensive and worse than dial-up, if you are old enough to have used it. Charge for a third person in room makes it almost as expensive as getting two rooms. Of course we did not want our daughter […] alone in a room. Hotel is surrounded by markets, food/fruit stands and close to the water taxi. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice hotel. Terrible expensive internet. They make more money by selling internet card than actual room rent. They must realize the necessity of internet for each individual and avoid terrible charges.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Mixed bag"
Hotel room was not well cleaned - there were several small items on floor (wrappers, hair pins, etc.) that indicated lack of vacuuming, mopping in bathroom. It seemed everything had a price attached - internet was expensive in a country where internet abounds; taxis that weren't arranged by the hotel staff (therefore charging twice as much or more) […] were apparently not allowed in entrance drive - many small irritants. A few workers were genuinely warm and friendly, but others were rude when asked questions or for help. The "guest services" who one might associate with a concierge were obviously shills trying to sell certain tours that offered them kickbacks. It is an easy distance to major tourist attractions, but not walking distance as the online description which attracted us claimed. Hotel room was spacious and offered nice view; breakfast buffet was plentiful. The city and sidewalks are INTENSE around the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overall, your average hotel experience."
Overall a positive hotel experience. We only stayed one night, so my opinion is solely based on that amount of time. Pros: Checkin/checkout was fairly quick, room was ready when we arrived just after noon, size of room was fantastic, breakfast selection was above average, location was okay and pretty quiet inside our room, pool/bar facilities were nice, […] bathroom shower water pressure and temperature were great and beds were comfortable. Cons: Internet was too expensive and network was terribly slow, hotel is in desperate need of decorating renovation, there was a damp/stale smell to the entire hotel, food/drinks overpriced. "Will do but nothing special"
Nothing special about this hotel... simply regular. However, the staff was polite but not very responsive. Like I had to call housekeeping three times before they helped me with the TV and lighting. Also, the bed itself and linen were smelling something not very pleasing. The sofa was old and with signs of tears. Small ants were everywhere in the room. […] Sorroundings of the hotel are not attractive either. Will do for a two-three day stay but not more. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good overall; rooms could be updated."
The hotel facilities are quite nice -- two pool decks, great views of Bangkok, and a breakfast buffet that pleases both western and eastern travelers. However, our room in Tower B had clearly not been updated for some time: the bedroom was comfortable, but the bathroom could have used a new shower curtain (one that did not drag in the tub and therefore […] grow a bit of mold), and perhaps new fixtures so that water did not splash all over. Carpeting and sofa in the room also pretty tired looking, which is a good reason to wear slippers at all times. I would also recommend that additional lounge chairs be added to the 12th floor pool deck -- there is a lot of space, but little seating. Especially as many guests will just be sunbathing, the hotel could make great use of the space that is not directly poolside by setting up smaller lounge areas. Great location: pier for water taxis a step away, which make it easy to travel both to Siam Center or to the Golden Mount. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Crowds in large hotel"
We stayed 5 nights and the hotel was very busy throughout this time. It's a VERY big hotel, rooms located over several towers, orientation difficult, very long way to your room might be a long long way. We had a 2 bedroom apartment (they call it "Suite") because we travelled with 3 adults and one 2yr old. Bedrooms quite small, one dark. Big fridge in […] the room and water heater, not enough cups and glasses. Maintenance standard was average. Except from Lobby area the ceiling is very low on all floors, giving you a boxed-in-feeling. Great view from our room on 25th floor. Friendly staff, but hotel charges for everything. No free WIFI or Internet, reconfirming flights cost us 20 THB per person, for airport transfer they try to charge as much as 1200, taxi meter price should not exceed 350 THB. They do not help with getting a normal taxi, you have to get one from the street and they all try to overcharge and not use the meter. Hotel even encourages taxi driver to charge more. Breakfast buffet was great, many dishes to chose from. But VERY busy with hundreds of guests. Breakfast is from 6-10 a.m., they keep reminding you to finish early. Late checkout is 2 p.m., but they might cancel the room key earlier: report to front desk to get into your room after 12 noon. Swimming pools are nice and clean, provide towels at the pools. Downstairs is Bo Bae Market, very busy on several floors and great for cheap clothing and jewelry etc. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel."
Recommended. One bedroom suite was nice, more room to move around. Tour transportation from hotel was way to expensive. Great shopping in market that was in same building. Carpets in hallway need replacing. Excellant breakfast in hotel for 300 baht.Genuine Expedia guest review
We arrived at the hotel around 8am and were told we had to wait until check-in time that was ok with us but the reception staff were very rude. finally we got the room but the phone didn't work and there was no hot water. we called the house keeping and reception from the phone near the elevators as the room was in the other tower, far from the reception. […] The only response we got was "one moment pls madam" and it went on for 3 hrs. Finally I had to go to the reception to complain, still the staff spoke among themselves in Thai and woudn't tell us what was happening. So our first day was wasted in sorting these matters out. Finally the manager on duty came and gave us another room, after that everything was smooth. Thailand not a land of "smiles". Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Prince Palace Hotel in Bangkok"
I stayed in a two bedroom suite at Prince Palace Hotel in Bangkok. The room was spaceous and tidy. Location was fine but with no BTS or MRT stations close by. The funny experience you could get though is to try the water taxi which departs frequently within few minute walk from the hotel. It is the way to advoid traffic if you are going to Central World […] for shopping. My overall experience with this hotel was satisfactory. The only thing which has got me upset was about the check in process. I arrived at the hotel just after 2pm and got advised to wait at least an hour for the room to get ready. I asked the front staff (a lady) what time the normal check in hour should be and got advised to be 4pm. It was a different information I got from the website when I did my booking. Therefore I asked again and the same answer was given from the lady staff. Well, while she was walking away to process my credit card for security payment, I double checked with another girl at the front desk. And there I got another answer which is 2pm. I got really upset by that and confronted the staff who purposely lied to me to make me wait. And there after the manager came over and offered me a room straight away. To apologise he gave me an option of late check out (which I didn't take it at the end). Anyway, the point here is why the girl had to lie to me at the first instance. She didn't admit her mistake nor explain/ apologise. It was not a big deal, but it was a bad first impression given at the minute I arrived at the hotel. It was not a pleasant experience and I hope others won't get that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great room rate...poor location"
This Hotel offers a great daily rate, however due to a poor location ( little in the way of restaurants, shops close to Hotel) we felt kinda trapped. Although there are numerous restaurants and bars in this large hotel food and drink at the hotel is generally way overpriced. We felt lucky to be staying only a couple of days. Friendly and helpful hotel […] staff save for the "concierge" whose attitude felt more like lets make a deal!!! Hotel car to the airport 1100baht...metered taxi 217baht The occasional feeling you were NOT being ripped off ?.....Priceless Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pregnant wife and a 2 year old"
This hotel is in a terrible location if you have young kids - ie, it's too far away from the parks and the surrounding neighbourhood is a nightmare to walk around. However - if you don't have kids it's perfect. right in the middle of shopping precint, khoa san rd and the palace.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice view but not nice room and location"
The room had full cover mat and textiles on the walls, and they clearly had been there for a loooong time. Felt a little disgusting putting my bare feet on that mat. Got a really large room high up for a low price though, but the surrounding area was not very nice, very "local" so to speak, far away from any shopping or attractions and very busy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for a 2 night stay"
Value for the money hotel. Staff a little stand-off'ish. Bathroom very dated, put off having a bath as all seals were mouldy & the bath stained. Breakfast was the best thing about the hotel. Spa very good. Pool&outside areas ok. Tuk-tuk man outside the hotel just wanted to take us to tailors and jewelery outlets - watch out!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Prince Palace Hotel - BoBae Tower, Bangkok"
Affordable hotel whose glory is fading, not too far from Bangkok's attractions. Convenient to UN conference center. Hotel prices in Bangkok are low, EUR35 per night incl breakfast, friendly staff, clean. However, if you need internet access beware: this costs 300bht / 60 minutes or 600 per day!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"An Aussie View"
Hotel is a tuk tuk ride away from most things. there are plenty of 7 elevens in the area for quick things. the hotel rooms are clean enough and the comfort is ok, but there is a push and shove session at the breakfast bistro in the morning. Watch out for the taxi service the hotel offers as it is expensive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Prince Palace Hotel"
Price of the hotel is commensurate to the service it offered. Reasonable and quite right for a budget traveller. The only negative incident we encountered was the noise the occupant of the other room were making. The fight and drama was clearly heard in our room. "Prince Palace - OK but could be better"
Checked in twice during my stay in Thailand, one day at the start of my trip and two days at the end. Check-in was busy but for the most part okay. Didnt appreciate reception saying "Your room not ready, you wait 40 minutes". The hotel was in a good location for my plans but a little hard to find because of markets and one way streets. Breakfast was […] included and was only just okay. They ran out of cutlery at breakfast, I had to share a knife and fork with my wife and share salt and pepper with the table beside me. Two bedroom suite was average but cheap. The main bedroom was very tiny, the queen size bed was jammed up against the wall on three sides which meant crawling over the wife when getting in and out of bed. Second bedroom ok, lounge room ok but the seating was old and uncomfortable and only enough for two people. TV channel selection was poor. Cost of drinks around the pool is very expensive. Drinking water in the room, two small bottles for four people ,was only free for one day and very expensive to buy. Adequate drinking water should have been free every day as you can't drink tap water in Thailand. Service was good but a four star hotel with six star pricing. Paid wireless internet but not in all rooms. Access rates expensive. Not good for business people. The Prince Palace offer cheap room rates to get people in then make up the difference by charging excessively in other areas. I would recommend people to stay but warn them about spending in the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"PRINCE PALACE , BO BAE , BANGKOK"
Good Value, Nice Pool, Usual "Bun Fight" at Breakfast Buffet, but quality of food ok. We had a good view of ther fireworks to celebrate the Kings Birthday on 5th Dec, from the pool area. My only gripe, was with reception. On arrival, they took 1000 Baht as security deposit. from my CC On departure I waited in reception while they "Checked" my room. I […] was advised as all was Ok , and they thanked me for my stay and I set off to the Airport. for my flight to Phuket. The problem here is that I was not informed they had debited my Card, it took 11 Days and 3 phone calls before the transaction was reversed. My advice is to make sure you get this reversed when you check out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A standard three star"
This place was rated as a 3.5 star and it was a fair assessment: the hotel was clean although a bit shabby in parts and probably looks due for some rennovation. The staff were generally polite but didn't exceed expectations. We had to insist that we got the non-smoking room for which we booked and paid for and they duly and grudgingly complied. The […] food was, like the service, ok but not exceptional. The surrounding neighbourhood is busy, with local stalls selling nice fruit, plenty of drivers trying to sign you up to tours, close to central bangkok but not near any MRT/BTR stations unfortunately.
