Baan Talay Resort

Newly refurbished reception and pool area. Pool rooms are also high quality. Right on the beach but the quieter end so you're not disturbed by the noise of the Chaweng bars. About 20 minutes walk into the action. We had a good stay over New Year.

When we first arrived at the resort, there was a blackout, and we were told that we could only check in at noon, which is fine. However, when we returned at noon, they told us the room wasn't ready because the guest only checked out at noon, so we had to return at 2pm, instead. It honestly didn't help that it was raining throughout the day at that time, […] and the staff, though friendly, really didn't offer any better option for us. On a day when we were heading out for our snorkelling trip, we requested for beach towels, and were told that they ran out of it. It was 7.30am, so we asked, 'You ran out of towels this early in the day?' Then the receptionist said she would check again. And then told us the same thing, and asked if we could use our old towels. We said we left them on the benches outside and were already dirty, so she said she would check again. We weren't late initially, but becase of this, an entire van of tourists were waiting for us. When the receptionist returned to say the towels would be ready at 8am, we were annoyed. After we decided to get the dirty towels from our room, the receptionist came over and said the towels will be with us in a minute. And they eventually did, but the whole process was just unnecessary. For a 3 star resort, I probably shouldn't expect too much, but their reception area or even exterior of the resort could be more prominent, rather than just a sign pointing inwards. Good place to stay. Clean n hospitable staff. The beach is right in front of the restaurant giving excellent view. The best sea tides u can get on chewing beach is right in front of this resort. Clean , stylish Market is just out side this hotel. Night view too is amazing. Overall great stay at this hotel.

Great place. Awesome staff good breakfast. Right on the beach. Would stay there again in a second!! It is a bit from town Center but in walking distance to all the shops etc in chaweng!!

Although resort was under construction, it was hrdly noticeable, except for the Closed swimming pool. We had a wonderful experience in our seaview bungalow, beautiful porch right on the beachfront.

First time at the Baan Talay and the reception area was a little daunting. Once past the reception and into our room we were very pleased with our choice of hotel. Staff were excellent and very accommodating. Rooms were spacious and very clean. We had excellent beach access for those who like to play in the sand. Being at the bottom end of Chaeweng […] Beach gave you a quieter area to enjoy but if you wanted to be amongst it then a motorbike is recommended to get around. Footpaths in Chaeweng Beach aren't the best and anyone with prams and small families would find it frustrating at best to contend with. Other than that our stay in Koh Samui was excellent and made even better by the service that the staff at the Baan Talay provided. Read more

The location of the hotel was very good, at the quieter end of Chaweng. The staff were very welcoming and eager to please. The gardens were very well kept and had a very tranquil and relaxing feel about it. The pool area is really lovely. I must mention that the checking in area dining area require a really good makeover, the furniture is very dated […] and old. Sadly, they allow smoking in the dining area which was very offputting. The rooms were very comfortable and it was a daily surprise as to how the cleaning staff would fold the clean towels, some days it would be elephants, some days in a rose shape - a great touch. I would recommend the Baan Talay to friends as it is a very welcoming hotel. I had to go the the hospital, the staff at Baan Talay arranged the taxi, called to let the hospital know I was coming and were very concerned for my welfare. First class resort. Staff all friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Manicured garden, lovely clean pool. Great room - next to pool. Suitable for all ages. Best part of Chaweng beach - not as noisy as other end. Shops,bars,restaurants etc. outside resort. Main drag within walking distance or short taxi ride.

Stayed for 10 nites in beachfront Talay 02 from 26/610 to 6/7/10. The room was fantastic, modern, big & also a big bathroom. The view was magnificent. EVERY staff member was friendly & polite. The resort was very pretty with ponds & fountains & the pool area was good. The breakfast was good & adequate for the size of the resort. Friends also stayed […] in the poolside rooms & they were very happy too. I was a bit worried when i saw the reception area but everything else made up for it. Vi hade en jättebra vistelse på Baan Talay vi bodde där i 10 dagar. Man bor precis vid början av huvudgatan med all shopping och bra restauranger. Hotellet ligger i en oas av växtlighet med pool och ett steg ner på stranden. Frukosten var också bra det fanns att välja på frukt youghurt flingor olika juicer olika äggrätter bacon korv skinka thairätter […] olika bröd kaffe te pannkakor våfflor och donuts. De sistnämnda fanns som små miniatyrer och va väldigt sött ... hade kanske velat ha varma sådana men man får tänka på att det är ett *** hotell men grymt bra service :) Hade absolut bott där igen om vi skulle åka dit.. vi hade den absolut finaste stranden av dom vi var på under resan. Antes de ir a Samui creia que me encontraria agua cristalina y playas maravillosas, pero es todo lo contrario, casi no hay arena en la playa y no la limpian, el agua esta sucia en toda la isla, este hotel es mediocre y apartado de la zona de zona de restaurantes, no volvere a Samui.

Utmärkt hotell för alla, oavsett om man är par, familj eller kompisar. Ligger alldeles underbart precis vid stranden. Totellet ligger på södra delen av Chaweng Beach där du inte alls störs av trafik eller bargatan. Doch med gångavstånd till både nattliga nöjen, shopping och restauranger. Personalen och servicen på hotellet är hur bra som helst och reseptionspersonalen […] talar mycket god engelska. Frukosten är utmärkt och poolområdet kanske inte är det största men mycket fint och skönt. Vi kan verkligen rekomendera detta hotell, och kommer själva återvända och bo här igen. Read more

Hotellet ligger bra till i den lugnare delen av Chaweng. Trafiken var lite störande men är det nog på alla hotell i detta område. Poolområdet och stranden var bra. Bra frukost buffé, goda luncher, luncherna var lite dyrare än på andra restauranger men väl värt det! Trevlig och hjälpsam personal. Rummen var rena och fräscha, stort badrum, sköna sängar, […] trevlig uteplats med en liten damm. Vissa nätter var grodornas läten lite störande men man vänjer sig. Read more

Bon rapport qualité/prix. Choisissez de préférence un bungalow vue piscine ou plage (plus récent). Personnel très aimable. n'hésitez pas à essayer tous les restaurants sur la plage : pour tous les gouts, ambiance détendue de partout.
