It's a nice place to go, pay one price and not worry about anything else. I do think its more suited for people who like the night life and partying. They blast loud music until 2 am every night. Alcohol is free flowing so add that to the loud music and party atmosphere, it was pretty out of control. The hotel staff is up pretty early shouting into […] a microphone for upcoming events. Very irritating when the loud party music had you up. During the day it's pretty relaxing and you can find a quiet spot. But it depends on what vacation means to you. They require reservations for two of their restaurants and everyday they were booked? So make the restaurants bigger it extend their hours. The beach is super close and really nice. Read more

Lots of details are unimpressive. The food is good enough; the drinks are good enough; the hot tub is good enough (but with cracking paint). I did not go in thinking that this was the Atlantis, and it was fine. I can see how people with high standards would be disappointed. Nonetheless, I wouldn't object if my friends wanted to stay there.

We paid extra for ocean view and we did not get it when we arrived at the facility. Since the first day we reported that our shower was broken and nobody ever came to repair it. The only aspect that saved our week vacation in this hotel was the animation staff.

beach and the ocean were beautiful. lots of loose coral in the water so you need to watch where you step. had a few cuts and scrapes on my feet from the coral. lots of lounge chairs and shade along the beach. the Italian restaurant was superb. however the buffet was not inspiring. lots of heavy foods. it all seemed to be fried or carbs. they did have […] a small salad bar but they didn't,t always put out salad dressing. the restaurant is screened in and I didn't notice the flies that other reviews have mentioned. however eating heavy food in a non-airconditioned area is nothing I would recommend. the restaurant is mainly just pumping out quantity rather than quality. the room was nice by Bahamas standards. The front desk staff had no customer service. I was a guess their and I hear so many people complain about the front desk services. They don't explain anything to you. The Wyndham is good value for the money. It offers many activities and encourages participation. The food is fine and the 2 restaurtants requiring reservations are better than the buffet restaurant. The hotel was just ok although we had to walk quit a distance, even in the rain. The staff was not to friendly and seemed annoyed most of the time. You can snorkle right there in the bouyed area and see most everything you can see out on the reef. I felt no need to arrange a boat trip. The beach offered plenty of shade umbrellas and the beach bar was convenient with fast service. Main issue was the food - not good. Wouldn't recommend the hotel for that reason. The resort was O.K. Don't believe all the pictures you see. Rooms were fairly basic but clean. The staff was very helpful and nice. The food was good but not great, the drinks flow from the bars. The location is quiet, with the exception of the parties that start after the evening show that go from 11pm to 2 am.

We just got back, 4/21. The staff and food were good, it's Bahama Time. The septic system backup behind the B buildings, ocean front, NEEDS to be fixed. Overall a great week. The best snorkeling is right at the hotel, reefs on the left. It was almost as good as the dive boat, which was fun. Bone fishing with Capt. Phil was a good side trip too.

Well, mostly I will just confirm the reviews I read before going, so I cant really say I have a complaint. Just got back from a week with my family of 5. The room we were in was in serious need of updating, peeking into other open rooms it seems that many were updated, just not our end of the resort. Bad plumbing, thermostat was broken so we were freezing […] or sweating, phone in the room did not work etc... it was a place to sleep and the bed was acceptable. Like I said, I pretty much expected that, so we did not complain or ask for another room. Food was hit or miss, seems like some of it was better than I expected, but a lot of it was not so good... but hey, all inclusive - if I didn't like it, I didn't eat it, and there was enough decent food at any time to keep us all fed. Breakfast was always good. My only word of warning - If you are going to this resort because you like to dive - BRING YOUR OWN GEAR !!! and know how to dive before you go. Their rental gear is really bad - almost every dive we went on had some sort of equipment problem - blown out hoses, bad o-rings, leaks, equipment in need of repair that seems to be neglected. When I asked about an air hose that was completely cracked through, I was told that they were not allowed to change them until they completely blew out - this is unacceptable. They are understaffed (only 2 divemasters & a boat captain) Dive staff was awesome - just need a better manager. if you are a diver going to Viva, you might be disappointed. Read more

The hotel is basically what the reviews say. Although, I was a bit skeptical about the beach, it was a lot cleaner than I thought it would be; just a little more rocks than I expected. The water was clear on some occasion and on others it was a bit murky but the temperature was nice. The resort offers a variety of activities and all inclusive meal package that was ok but there is limited diet products and you could only get bottle soda or water for a fee from 9to4 when the store was open. There were two restaurants but you need reservation aNd there were only three or four items on the menu and they were out of one of those.. However […] the bedroom was dirty and had ants everywhere. The television was old and the remote was broken. They did replace the remote when I complained. The closet door was broken and you could tell the housekeeping staff did not have enough linen. You had to wait almost til night to get clean towels and sheets. And you had to ask they were not just delivered each day. My first impression of the hotel was not the best.. it's missing "curb appeal" but after finally getting checked in, it was fine. The rooms were clean and everyone was very nice. The website says things such as mini bar in the room - there is none. It also said that there was drink and fruit service on the beach. There's a beach bar that you have to go to, there are no cabana boys :) But other than a few minor issues I enjoyed the trip. It's the perfect place to relax and lay in the sun. I read alot of the feedback the night before we left for our trip and I was extremely hesitate. I must say when we got there, I just reminded myself that we were on vacation. Our original room was cozy, but we had no hot water. we went to the front desk and they told us someone would be over to check it out. I literally ran the hot water from the sink […] into the ice bucket and to use in the shower, It was kind of comical, but after 3 days of that I couldn't take it anymore. We complained again to the front desk and they gave us an upgrade with fridge and microwave with a nice balcony. From there on it was wonderful. I must say that they were in the middle of upgrading mattresses and furniture in most of the rooms, but they definitely have some maintenance issues, remember... you do get what you pay for. The food was great, staff was sweet and helpful and the entertainment was fun. The taxi from the airport to the resort was $25. you can rent a car at the resort, it is pricey, but there is one car that doesn't have air conditioning and that was I believe half of what they wanted for the other cars. about 10pm, go check out the little pizza shack... that was alot of fun, just hanging out, talking with people and having a little snack! Our room was on the far side- we got lost trying to find it the first day. The rooms that begin with "C" are older than the other buildings. The AC in our room was very loud. The walls were very thin, you could here your neighbors. Beds were uncomfortable. Food was ok. Breakfast was the same all the time: pancakes, french toast, sausages, bacon, fruit, […] cereal, etc. Lunch was ok; I stayed away from the deli meat and cheese- they placed it on a tray and there were flies everywhere! Dinner was better- I liked the different salads they had. Especially the seafood salad. Drinks were ok- they use small cups; buy a large cup/thermos at the little shop. Surprised they didnt have ice cream!! Entertainment- I have to say this was the biggest surprise. the animation team is really incredible. they work really hard during the day to make sure the guests are having a good time, and then they put on fun shows at night. Don't miss their Mystery show! It started off a little cheesy but in the end it was fantastic- i was blown away at the caliber of their performances. Bravo! The beach- loved it. Go early to get the best seats. Go kayaking, snorkeling and learn wind surfing (all free). There's always these four ladies trying to sell you jewelry, seashells and hair braiding. If you go to this hotel expecting a 5-star, you will be disappointed. The hotel is clean and staff is great but it is getting a bit run down. Our family did not mind the hotel at all. The animation staff was awesome, very welcoming and made the days and the evenings very fun. Nestor and Capi were funny in the shows and welcoming to talk to during the day. The food was good overall and everything we had heard about the late night pizza was true. We will miss the pizza man, Shaq. We also enjoyed […] the breakfast omelets. The doorman was always friendly and willing to help us with any questions that we had. The bar staff at the Goombay bar was friendly and willing to recommend new drinks to try. Our favorites were the Grand Bahama smile and the fuzzy navel. We do have some feedback for the resort. There needs to be a little TLC for some of the buildings at the resort. I think that some of this is due the hurricanes that happen in the Bahamas, and there is not much you can do about the weather but you can take care of the buildings. We did not find that there was enough communication with the excursion desk and felt frustrated when trying to sort out the issues we were having. There should automatically be a shuttle to pick you up when you arrive and transport you to the resort, you are tired when you arrive. The resort should also let you know about the taxi's. Every taxi ride is about $25.00 and there are some places that you may not want to go. Read more
