"Not a good experience"
This was our second trip to this resort, because we had a good time the first time. It is not ritzy by any means, and the food was okay but not great, but the kids loved it and it was small and remote, so they could run around by themselves safely. The staff were also great. We were there this time for Labor Day, and the hotel closed right afterwards […] for a few months. I assume because they were closing the hotel decided to close the two nice restaurants, and also closed the buffet for dinner. Everyone had to make reservations for dinner, and eat from a specific menu. In addition, they kept running out of food. The last day, they did not even open the beach restaurant for food, so after lunch, you had absolutely no food options until your dinner reservation. I found the changes to be inexcusable, and while the staff was still great, it is unlikely we will go back because of this. It was extremely disappointing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"very run down hotel"
We arrived at the Windham Fortuna and at first sight we were very disappointed. Once installed in our room the disappointment didn't change, actually got worst. The rooms are not too clean. The whole resort is run down. The pool is poor and seagulls fly into the water leaving feathers all over. The restaurant is average and the food is very poor. Also […] the heat inside the restaurant is impossible and makes it hard to enjoy the meals. The beach is very nice but not well maintained. The sand is very dirty, full of food left overs and the staff doesn't clean it. The only really beautiful thing is the ocean with clear water however there are many sea weeds. This is the first time that we were so disappointed in an all inclusive resort booked on Expedia. We do not recommend this resort at all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very poor quality."
This all inclusive was very poor quality. Hotel is not well kept, painting, floor, not very clean overall. The food was very poor quality and not many options, presentation was horrible.Genuine Expedia guest review
It is not like the pictures. The beach has a lot of rocks once you enter the water. On the second there was such a strong sewage smell, we no longer went into the ocean and only swam in the pool. I paid to upgrade, not worth it. Most rooms have the ocean view anyways, if not you get a pool view so they are all decent views. The phone in the room didn't […] work, the maid service comes late and at different times during the day. We could get back to the room around 4pm and the room usually wasn't cleaned yet. If it was then we didn't have towels yet. Usually we used our beach towels to shower until we could find someone to give us clean towels. We locked our key in the room one day and the front desk said they don't give keys but to find a maid to let us in. After we finally found one, she didn't even ask for indentification and just let us in. The food was terrible. I like juice in the morning, most mornings they only had soda or tap water. They were always out of something such as syrup for the pancakes, or butter for the bread. They ran out of soda a lot as well. The last day was the best because we rented a car and went to a restaunant called something like banana boat and the prices were reasonable and good. If you walk about a mile down our beach you get to a better nonrocky beach. I love all inclusives but it is not worth it. The prices of local food is not that high and better tasting. The hotel was ok, the beach was beautiful. The food was horrible!! They really need to rethink their food and food choices. It was obvious that they served leftover items from meal to meal. I don't think a hotel should do that. Wyndham needs to put some SERIOUS money into this location. It could be a nice place if anyone cared to fix it up.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"please check the negative reviews on this resort!"
I wished that I had believed the reviews that were written about this resort. The staff was rude and unfriendly, the food was terrible but if you like cafeteria food you will be happy. The trash barrels throughout the facility were overflowing for days. I had asked for a king size bed when I booked my trip and when we arrived they said "there were none […] available". I saw many rooms while we were there and didn't see a king size bed in any of the rooms. There was rot along the woodwork in the bathroom, the tiles were filthy. The cloth napkins in the so called "restaurant" were stained but clean. I personally don't want to see everyone else's stains on my napkins. All the tables had stained napkins. The general manager stayed close to his office because he knew that people were unhappy. If you still want to stay here, ask for a room in the Bimini section of the resort. Otherwise you will be awakened by very loud music from the "disco". On a positive note, the beach was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen! by the way, be prepared to be hounded all day by drug dealers on the beach. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
It was a challenge to find something edible. Main restaurant makes you feel fike in an army. The only good thing to eat was hamburgers in the beach bar. It has kept us alive. The rooms are very old. Bathrooms too, Beach is beautiful. So the main problem is the food if you don't care a room. Taxi 25 dolars fropm airport.Genuine Expedia guest review
The upkeep of the hotel was very poor. The food was of poor quality, the food that was suppose to be hot was never hot, you were lucky if it was warm. The cook at the grill was mixing up the hamburger meat with bare hands in front of the guests. The schedule time for the buffet was always late. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I would never […] consider returning to this place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Was disappointed with the hotel , food , and staff!!Genuine Expedia guest review
food is horrible. it looks that they are re-serving the food as it often appears to be the same for lunch and dinner. Dining hall servers are very unpleasant. The best thing, if not the only thing, that this resort has going for it is the beautiful expansive beach. It is by far the best that I saw there. There's no doubt that the Bahama beaches are […] beautiful with the white sand and crystal water. This place however is far removed from any activites and restaurants of the marketplace and it's costly to take a cab each time. The hotel should offer shuttle service. Last time we were here we were told that they intended to do improvements, not only were no improvments made but the the place was in worst condition. Unclean room needing paint and repairs, peeling paint, a rock for a matress. They pulled out most items like coffee maker, ice bucket and clock because of the spring breakers but I am not a college kid […] on spring break. Overall I do not think that I will return and would not recommend. The only bright spots were several of the staff who I remember from last year. They were friendly and helpful. "Snorkel and scuba diving is awesome"
checked us in to an occupied room. Put us in an "upgraded room" where the front door knob fell off twice; no lock on patio door; no screen door either; air conditioner dripped water in hallway; woke up to a massive puddle; positioned trash can under the drip to catch the water. It toke 3 days to get it fixed. Apparently the upgrade was to a smoking […] building. Yuck! Phone did not work all week. Pool was cold. Beach was nice. Food was good. Only saving part of vacation was the dive center on site. My 13 old son and I took an intro dive course and went scuba diving twice. Awesome reef just minutes away. We even saw over a dozen gray sharks just a few feet away. We also snorkeled. It was awesome! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Bad food, bad service, run down property"
I went with low expectations...I just wanted to relax in the sun...you can do that here; but not much else. The staff is a mixed bag...some really attentive ones (primarily those who handle specific activities...the dive team were excellent) but the rest of the staff is lazy, inattentive and generally apathetic about your experience. The food is worse […] then cafeteria food. I ate off premises just about every night. I am not exaggerating; if eating and drinking well are important to you . Do not go here. "You get what you are paying for !"
The Hotel offers exactly what you are paying. The rooms are poor and old. Even the nicer Ocean View Rooms. In fact i booked this but got a garden view first. This is much older. After long discussions they changed it. The toilet didnt worked on 3 of 7 days. The firealarm goes on one day. Shampoo you get 2 of 7 days. Towels ? Depends on the willing of […] the room mades. When you are lucky, you get 1 bottle water for 3 in the room at the first day. The stuff in the restaurants is unfriendly, but this seems to be standard in this area. The meals are average, but enought to stay well. The activity program of the Hotel is very great and offers a lot to do, especialy for kids. We had no problems to find a place at the beach (7 people). Thats great too. The location, the beach and the water are nice. In total, as i said, it is what you are paying ! "Not worth the price tag!! 2-3pt scoring out of 5!"
Pool/Beach was the nicest part of this place besides the temp was in 60-70's windy. walking along the beach during the most sunny part of the day were the best. Food Buffet is your best bet with different verities. their Asian's style food scored a 2 from 1-5. (5being best) their Italian style scored a 3.5 their buffet score a 4 cause it has the most […] verity and the goods and bad are pool together. WIFI- SLOW/BAD - always kick you offline. Gaming options/area - a good options but the area of gaming is old which needs major updates. etc pool table/pingpong tables/moldy basketball count . worse part of gaming area are they ALL have time slots!! as if they don't have enough staff operating them so they cut everything down to opening 1.5-2.5 hr at a time. always a long line waiting... Condition and upkeep of the hotel- public area was clean and updated decently. dining area is decent Hotel Rooms (C units) OLD/Dated but clean. same goes for bathroom/shower was lack of water pressure & didn't have hot water for the first (2) days. got it fix right away. going to jamaica was cheaper and hotel is way better upkeep then this Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wyndham Fortuna not a Fortune"
As standard hotel policy check-in is at 3pm. We arrived at about 11:30am, while waiting for our room, the accommodations were sub par; the alcohol choices were extremely limited, they served house wines, and no name vodka, there was no scotch, When we finally go to our room, the towels had holes, the bedding was old and frayed. The main dining room […] is filled with frayed and stained napkins. We chose the Caribbean, specifically to experience the "taste" and feel of the Caribbean, however, this resort does not offer any traditional or authentic foods of the Bahamas. The music, the activities, are catered for European tourists; the music streaming through the resort fell within the techno genre. In the evenings, the DJ played the same songs over and over (not once did he play any reggae or calypso). They offered shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the show on Friday was advertised (in the brochure )as Moulin Rouge what we got was a sing-along to Madonna by staff members whose artistic abilities did not meet the standard of HS performers. The cuisine is not up to par for an establishment carrying the Wyndham name; while it is nice to have a variety of culinary choices, I did not go to the Bahamas to eat Chinese food or Italian food. I enjoyed the time I spent with my husband, but we left the resort to truly enjoy our mini-vacation. The location of the resort is great, and has the potential to be a wonderful experience, but there is a lot of work to be done. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Unless on a budget, keep looking!"
If you're going just for the beach, this place is fine BUT everything else is pretty much a disappointment. Old hotel in need of many updates. Most of the staff, especially bartenders were very rude and did not seem like they wanted to do anything at all. Food is very mediocre and sometimes not good at all. If you stick with the basics like pizza, hot […] dogs and hamburgers then you're okay most of the time. Everything seemed watered down and once they ran out, well they ran out. Don't expect anything to be refilled quickly. However, the beach is beautiful!!!! Spent 7 days and still had a good time since I went with an open mind. Definitely shop around before going here. Try somewhere else unless you are on a strict budget. All in all I had a good time but this place needs much improvement and something needs to be done about the attitudes of the bartenders. I will say the people in the shows at night work very hard and were pleasant to be around. Have a few drinks before the shows and you will have a good time. All in all I enjoyed the beach just not the hotel accommodations or a lot of the staff. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not the best by far, but I was satisfied"
I read other reviews of this hotel before I went on the trip so I wasn't expecting much but all I wanted was to relax and get a good tan so it wasn't a problem for me. When i first got to my room i had to call the font desk because the remote control, phone and alarm clock/radio were missing. After about three hours and numerous visits from staff we […] finally got two out of three. I gave up on the phone since my cousins and i had adjoining roomsand i could just use theirs. The rooms are dated and the hotel maids only seem to turn down the beds and not actually clean anything. Also getting towels everyday was a challenge. At one point, I had to find the housekeeping room myself and just take what I needed. The dining experience is mediocre at best, but I've been to so called high class hotels and hated the food so I wasn't really disappointed but rather got what was expected. The drinks they offer are terrible so be sure to know what you like and ask for it specifically. The one great thing I can say was the staff was very friendly and even went out of their way to make the experience enjoyable. I just wish their were more on site activities because if you're looking to do something other than lay out in the sun you're going to get bored very quickly. BTW Keshanna at the front desk is the best. Whatever you need she'll make it happen. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"People nice, resort NOT"
The hotel staff was very friendly. The quality of the food was terrible. I have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts in the past (even 3 star ones) and never have I experienced such bad food. It was like eating in a school cafeteria. Even the restaurants were dreadful. The pool was freezing cold and no one went in. They needed a swim up bar to make […] it easier to meet people. The beach was beautiful but rocky water. I am usually not a picky person and we went with the flow and enjoyed the nice people we met, but I would never go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Resort needs Updating"
The resort is outdated and needs updating. We were told it is a big spring break resort. The houskeeping staff was very friendly and accomodating. Our remote control did not work. Guest services were called twice and did nothing. The houskeeping staff corrected the problem along with extra pillows and towels. The front desk staff was rude and short […] tempered. Stay in a room on the second level because the noise from above can be bothersome. Get your coffee in the bar as the coffee at the buffet is terrible. We stayed in th Bimini section. The rooms were clean. The buffets were adequate. Breakfast is the best of the buffets. Dinner at Bamboo was horrible. Avoid making reservations. The worst meal in our entire lives. We had a large party and noone ate their meals. The wait staff was wonderful. The entrees were inedible and we went to the dinner buffet after we left. The italian resataurant was good. The best food on the property was the pizza served in the Italian restaurant and by Shaq after 10 pm. The drinks were ok but seemed very weak. They only serve beer on tap, no bottles. The beach is beautiful and you can snorkel right in front of the hotel. Bring some water shoes as the ocean in front is very rocky. Be sure to book activities like sailing, scuba when you arrive. Wi-Fi is only available in the bar and lobby. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Never stay here"
The room was shabby and dirty. The food was not the best I've tasted. The only good thing this resort has is the Entertainment/Activities staff. They worked very hard to keep the guests entertained and happy, and they work a lot of hours. They are on the job, with smiles on their faces, from very early in the morning until very late at night. They should […] be the best paid employees on the resort. The bartenders in the Lounge were also very friendly. The housekeepers were friendly, but they did not do the best job possible on the room...when they even bothered to show up. The front desk would never answer their phone, which meant we had to go down to the desk to get anything accomplished. This also caused us complications in regards to the tours we booked because they would try to call the front desk to confirm our tour reservations. They advertise a Junior Club for ages 12 - 16, but it doesn't exist. They advertise a Junior Club for ages However, I cannot make clear enough how great the Entertainment/Activities staff were. They even did their best to keep all the guests entertained when it rained all day long. They made me feel like I was their friend, and that meant a lot to me. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Lemonade out of lemons"
The Viva Wyndhwm Fortuna is desparately in need of renovations and management overhaul. We finally found an acceptable room after three triies and hauling our luggage back and forth to the lobby without assistance. The staff is friendly but disorganised. Still, we managed to have a good time with the help of the bar crew and entertainment staff. Management […] needs to step up and support these hardworking and enthusiastic folks. This hotel is redown and is in need of serious upgrades. Being that Wyndham bought the place with the intentions of upgrading they have not done so as they bought the property in 2003. Also, regarding the timeshare people that ask you to meet with them for two bottles of rum and 2 beach towels. DON'T!!! They say it is 30 minutes. It is more like 2 hrs […] and at the end they want you to put donw $19,000 for future vacations!! Not a deal to me. I would NEVER go back to this resort. May be OK for spring breaker, not for me. "A Big Disappointment"
My boyfriend and I were excited to partake in an all inclusive long weekend getaway in the Bahamas. Unfortunately when we arrived we were told all of the specialty restaurants were closed that week because of low occupancy. We forced to "dine" at the buffet (which left much to be desired)for all three meals. The room resembled many that I stayed at […] when I was 17 and hung out at the Jersey Shore! They are reluctant to give you new towels and if you request a new beach towel each day there is a $1 charge per day. The room also did not include a mini bar but did have a safe which you had to pay $10 a day in order to use! This is fine for the Spring Break crowd but if you are an adult looking to vacation like an adult then this is not the resort for you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
