"Best hotel in Lucaya, Grand Bahama!"
I travel with friends and family quite often to Freeport. I have to say the Pelican Bay is the best hotel to stay at in Lucaya. "Loved This Hotel!"
This is a wonderful hotel....we stayed 2 nights, went to another destination, and then returned for another night. Our room was a beautiful waterside suite...living room and separate bedroom.....an added extra was the pre-breakfast that was delivered to the "box in your door"! Stanley and Yvette were very helpful and went the extra mile to take good […] care of us! The on-site restaurant, Sabor was very good.....in fact we ate there 2nights. It is located next door to the Port Lucaya Marketplace and the Straw Market so there is lots to do......Beach is across the street. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fabulous resort for a quiet getaway."
Pelican Bay is a wonderful quiet resort overlooking the marina and channel. If you are looking for a nice relaxing place, away from the crowds and the tourists, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a family resort or one on the beach with activities all day to entertain you, than this is not the place for you. The staff was very helpful […] and pleasant to work with. The grounds were well kept and the place was beautiful. The suite we had was superb, with plenty of room and privacy. The 3 pools were great--sometimes we were the only ones at them! We stayed here 5 years ago on a previous visit and would not consider EVER staying anywhere else. We will be back--and sooner than 5 years! The Marketplace and great restaurants are all within walking distance as is the beach and casino. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"I'm going back as soon as I can"
30 yrs ago as a meeting planner I spent almost 3 weeks in Freeport and it was a nightmare. Staff was surly and slow, maintenance was not completed as requested just a bad scene. So I was hesitant about this trip but was willing to give it a go. What a turnaround. The staff at this hotel (not the same one as 30 yrs ago) and everyone we met either on […] the street or on excursions were absolutely wonderful to us. The treated us like family. The hotel is set on a waterway, but it is so easy to get to the beach from there -- water taxi's anyone? Staff was awesome -- quick service, pleasant, easy smiles -- just a happy experience. It you want to go snorkling, dolphin swimming, or use ski do's, it is so handy to set up. Meal prices are extremely reasonable for a resort -- I came back with lots of cash in my pocket. I just loved it. Thanks Pelican Bay and all of the surrounding business which made my trip a happy and lasting memory! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Pelican Bay Hotel - close to the beach"
This was a very nice hotel. I stayed in a suite which had a view of the marina. Had a small kitchenette, great decor, comfortable bed, very modern, and most importantly, very clean. Close to Port Lucaya and the beach. The only recommendation is for their front desk to be a little bit more cordial. I didn't get a greeting nor "How was your stay"? Overall, […] I would recommend. "Wonderful place to visit, strongly recommend it!"
My husband & I wanted a quiet week in the sunshine. We'd been elsewhere in the Carribean, but never to the Bahamas, and selected this resort based on other online reviews. It was a good choice! We opted for the suite upgrade, which I strongly recommend. Lots more room to relax, which was nice on the occasional rainy day. Loved the expresso machine. […] Even my husband enjoyed it, and he normally avoids coffee. Our room overlooked the canal, great view from the balcony and very quiet. The hotel pools were nice but small. The resort provides a free ferry & access to Taino Beach resort, and we enjoyed their large pool and long stretch of white sandy beach. There's a good selection of restaurants nearby at the Port Lacaya market, and the resort restaurant was also quite good. Do bring a jacket or wrap, it gets windy at night and many of the restaurants are outdoors. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Lucaya's best Hotel"
I've visited Grand Bahama since 1989 and stayed in many places. Pelican Bay is the nicest hotel on GBI. I miss the activity that Freeport was once famous. The Bahamian Government seems to be directing tourism to Nassau as many places have closed and not reopened over the years. Pelican Bay and the new direct flights on Vision Airways make Port Lucaya […] a nice, quick, warm getaway but the excitement of vacationing there has been lost. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Pelican Bay Resort at Lucaya Thanks for visiting Grand Bahama Island and especially our hotel. I am probably too young to recall the good ole days, but I have certainly heard of them quite often and I trust that the island will return to it's well known status of being an exciting destination. At the moment, many steps are being taken to provide visitors such as yourself with a myriad selection of experiences that appeal to many different tastes! We are grateful for your post and we look forward to your return on a future travel to Grand Bahama

"Loved, loved Pelican Bay and the Bahamas!!! Will be back soon!"
My flight arrived early so I got the hotel about 12:30 p.m.; my room was ready--no problem!! The girl at the front desk (Thomasina) was pleasant, friendly and gave me two free bahama mamas, and I needed them! The room was large and clean, a little dated, but comfortable. It had a nice balcony with a beautiful view of the water--with boats going up and […] down the channel all day! I had breakfast included in my package--and it was hot and delicious every day! I'm already planning my return--can't wait. Will definitely return to Pelican Bay and will definitely use Expedia to book my trip!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"This is my favorite place to stay in Freeport, Bahamas"
This is one of the nicest places to stay in Freeport. The office staff is very helpful. The Bellman-Stan has always been very helpful, friendly and overall a nice guy. The Sabor Restaurant is excellent. The meals I had there were excellent. It is convenient to everything. You can walk to the casino, go shopping and it isn't that far from the beach if […] you want to sit at the beach. Also, Zorba's Greek Restaurant was very good. Their portions are huge. Couldn't ask for nicer people. The only down side to the trip is that every time I'd go to schedule an activity-I'd get bumped to a different time because of the people on the cruise ships. I know they bring in alot of money to the area, but still isn't fair to the people that fly in and stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Most conveinent , and great location, oh ya great staterooms too"
Had a great time staying at Pelican Bay, close to everything , our room was 147, maybe 6 steps from the pool. The shopping &Resturants were only a 5 minute walk Port Lucaya . Took the bus to Freeport & Int. Bazaar, only $1.25 each way.Ask for Curtis the security guard at Int. bazaar to take you to the chicken nest on the west end , good authentic local […] food, $30.00 round trip. Go to Billy Joes on the beach for conch, lobster and beer. Walk the back way along the water to get to Lucaya past Unexo , its easier. Stayed Feb. 23 to March 8. "Looks just like the pictures!"
This trip was a birthday gift for my husband and I was praying for a pleasant experience. This trip was wonderful! The hotel looks just like the pictures and so does the rest of the island. All the beaches are public and beautiful. This hotel sits on the canal and right across the way at the Radison is the beach. Our room was quiet and not once did […] anyone interupt our trip or make it upleasant. The staff is warm and friendly and are willing to help and answer any questions. My only complaint was the bathroom. Our shower was not cleaned to our standards; lots of soap scum on the shower wall in the ridges. They came back and cleaned it again, but still was not the greatest. My husband and I have found with our foreign travels every country has their definition of clean. This however did not dampen our trip and we had a very relaxing time. There are several restaurants in the maket place and at the Radison all within a block's walk. All of our meals were delicious no matter where we ate. The Bahamans are very friendly without being too intrusive. One thing we learned is tip is included in your bill at restaurants from 10-15%. Most menus state what percentage they charge. We will definately return to this hotel! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"What a great vacation!"

"Always a wonderful experience!"
This is our favorite hotel in Freeport. If you are looking for lots of night life and shenanigans, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for relaxation, quiet, peaceful moments, look no further. It is located perfectly near the Count Bassie Square, where you can go for dinner and drinks at various establishments, then slip back away […] into the quiet peacefulness of Pelican Bay! It is located right on the bay and is more than words can describe, other than peaceful! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful Hotel, Wonderful Service"
For the price we paid, we expected a fairly nice hotel that would be comfortable enough for a four-night stay. What we got was basically a one-bedroom apartment with a balcony overlooking a lagoon in a gorgeous hotel complex that looked like a European-Carribean villa, located in the heart of the Lucaya Marketplace. The high points: free upgrade to […] a stateroom when my wife called to set up champaign delivery upon check-in for our anniversary (the upgrade was a surprise at check-in); the room (or rooms), beautifully appointed, supremely comfortable, and HUGE; the location, literally steps from the Lucaya Marketplace, across the parking lot from UNEXSO (incredible dive, dolphin experiences), 3 minute walk to the beach through neighboring property; the breakfast, massive and delicious. The low point: the rose-petals that were supposed to be part of the champaign package weren't there. (Note, this was a mild disappointment to my wife, but I didn't miss them!) I can't recommend Pelican Bay or Lucaya highly enough -- a wonderful vacation in a beautiful place! We can't wait to come back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"LOVE IT!"
Ok so the hotel is not exactly one of Trump's fancy hotels, but we had a great vacation. They don't have an exercise room, but they told us that we can use the Radisson's hotel exercise room which is only across the Pelican Bay hotel for a daily rate. Since we thought rate was bizarre, however, we decided to jog at the beach every morning, which was […] actually just as effective. The Pelican Bay is currently constructing a Convention Center that I'm hoping might have an exercise room in the future, as we are planning to go back. This was our first vacation together (me and my boyfriend) at the Bahamas and we truly enjoyed ourselves! The hotel room is not bad, though bathroom could use an updgrade, but really not such a big deal. Colors of the hotel are vibrant and give it that attractively warm tropical look. The hotel has three pools and a hot tub, all with a view of the bay! Staff is very friendly and helpful! Many even suggested to us places to go without us even asking. The beach is just a short walk away and it is quiet and beautiful! The water is about as clear as can be! And there's activities to do also: parasailing (highly recommend btw), Jet ski, scooba diving, snorkeling and lots more! There is also a marketplace full of restaurants, bars, and stores. Food was not bad at all as there is a lot of variety. We stayed there during their independence week July 6th to the 12th and we had a wonderful time! It was great to share in their celebration! We will def. visit again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A Charming Resort in a Beautiful Setting"
I had read favourable reviews of this resort while researching possible getaways and can confirm that it fully met my expectations. This trip was but a four-day excursion to escape the gray bleak landscape of a Canadian November prior to the onset of winter. Sun, sand, blue sky and torquoise water were all that were required, yet fine accommodation […] completed the perfect little holiday. This resort is not one of those concrete, cookie-cutter monstrosities one sees perched on beaches around the world. The resort does not have beach-frontage yet is surrounded by water. Stepping through the sliding back door we were treated to the calming view of an inner harbour with a large patio deck and pool in the foreground. This, we had virtually to ourselves and enjoyed breakfast coffee and room delivered muffins/danishes. A lasting impression of the resort is the lush, green vegetation that engulfs each of the buildings. The walkways were a treat to walk through. Although the pool water was deemed too cool by most guests, I enjoyed a swim each morning. There are three pools from which to choose. The poolside lounge chairs are of the highest quality and comfort. Alternatives to the pool scene are the Radisson beach across the road and Taino Beach accessed by a short boat shuttle. The resort's close proximity to the Port Lucaya marketplace provided numerous restaurant choices and nightly entertainment. Finally, the staff at the resort was exceedingly friendly & helpful.
