San Juan is the capital of Puerto Rico, and its cultural hub. Half of the island’s population lives in the greater metropolitan area, and most visitors enter here as well. Old San Juan, with its cobblestone streets and old colonial architecture, lies on a small island connected to the mainland by bridges; it is guarded by 16th and 17th century forts, now World Heritage sites open to the public.see all hotels in San Juan
"Not such a good place to stay"
Nice room but had NO hot water. We were told it is tropical wether there. what the heck does that matter. When we complained about having no hot water they did not do anything, they just shook there shoulders and said nothing. Front desk lady was nice, but pictures look better than actual place,. Not worth the price paid at all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ed is an expert about the area"
The hotel location was fabulous. You are close to everything. Ed is very knowledgeable about the area. His recommendations on where to eat were excellent. I intent to visit annually and will stay at the casa del caribe every time!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not bad but old."
The price of the hotel is perhaps justified by its location. But as a B & B, it needs some upgrading. The breakfast is on a par with Comfort Inn: simple. I would have expected a hot breakfast buffet for the money. The location is excellent, being in the heart of the busy Condado district and near all the restaurants and stores. The beach is across the […] main avenue, around the back of the Marriott Hotel. The management is friendly. The accommodations, the room, beds, facilities, must date back thirty years or more. The building is perhaps pre-WWII. The air conditioning was excellent. The outdoor patio is relaxing. The parking is across the street in the Marriott @$18/day. Very reasonable rates, great centralized location, only a block from the beach, nice patio/ breakfast area, beds soft but comfortable, Ed very personable and helpful. Continental breakfast sparse but many close-by restaurants for breakfast. We'll come back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"this place is steps from everything"
The hotel was a few minutes from the beach. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Marriott casino across the street. Walgreens a block away for all your needs. I had a great meal at the Green house, a block away. Great 1lb lobster special. There were many nice people from all over the world staying here. Canada,Germany Czeck ?? republic. Ed gave great directions […] and suggestions. I stayed in room 2/6. 2 was small but it served the purpose. 6 was big with a plasma T.V. however had no accessible outlets or hooks in bathroom to hang towels. The parking situation was a bit cumbersome. However on further thought a car really was not necessary. Busses and ferrys link you to old town and Catano bay where the Bicardi distillery is. Buses are .75 and ferry from old town to catano is $1.00 round trip. Buses are slow and unreliable but you meet locals. The taxi from the airport was a fast $19.00 fare for 2. I wish I had mingled more with the diverse crowd staying at the hotel. 1 night a few people got together and had a cook out. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. It was clean, safe and fun. There is also a place called buns and Mona's across the street. Buns had weekly specials and a vast beer selection. Monas touted margaritas and light fare. Mikes pizza also was about a 7 block walk west and had great food and generous portions. This hotel is pet friendly I believe. Ed has a nice med sized dog that was nice to be around. "Close to everything you need"
I was very happy with the stay. The hotel is very cozy and open environment. I like to be able to have freedom around the building and not having people watching everything you do. Ed and staff were very friendly and I love the nice dog in the building. The plants and coquis was the perfect backdrop to a relaxing vacation. I will stay there again. I […] recommended to people who like to be relax, independent guest who won't worry about special amenities or hotel expensive extra fees. One block from beach and walking distance from bars, Starbucks, good puertorrican food, and walgreens! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel for the price, convenient location a block from the beach and a $15 taxi ride to Old San Juan (or you can take the bus around the corner for .75 cents). The manager/owner Ed couldn't be more helpful, helping us book a tour of the rainforest and bio bay the day we arrived and recommending good places to eat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price for the location."
I had a great stay at Casa Del Caribe. It's definitely not your 4 star hotel but has good vibes. This is definitely a place to stay if you're trying to save money. It's within walking distance to the beach, dinning, shopping, and nightlife. I would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Terrible place to stay."
The website shows pictures of the beach, like if the hotel was on the beach and is not even close by it. The staff is not welcoming. It doesn't feel like a hotel, a prison is more like it. I didn't like the overall appearance. It is close to everything else. I would've stay in a motel, before stsying there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a simple and comfortable place to stay. It has the perfect location...walking distance to restaurants, bars, shopping, and the beach. The staff is amazingly nice and helpful. They even took us to a spot where locals hang out. It was a fantastic experience. If you're looking to spend the majority of your time and money exploring, this is the […] perfect place to stay. It's clean and comfortable...nothing fancy. I am definitely coming back and staying here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay was fine we where close to everything there is to do Beachs, casino's, a little night life. and old San Juan, Buses are very random and Taxis seem expensive, if we went again we would rent a car and get out and about a little more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is cozy and clean. It's located in a convenient location. Initially, I had reserved a room with 1 bed for 2 adults, and I had 3 people in a group. The hotel was nice enough to upgrade the room for no extra charge, to a large room with 3 beds and a kitchen. Highly recommended for budget travelers!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was very clean, Breakfast was minimal at best, the hotel was quiet, close to the beach. I left my cellphone in the hotel room and management was kind enough to send it to my home address.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"best kept hotel secret in san juan"
As a student, I didn't have a massive budget to scatter around, and this hotel was really an answer to prayer. My friend and I chose this hotel because it presented the greatest value in proportion to its location and amenities. It's tucked away on Caribe not even a block from the artery of Condado, Asford Ave, and is easy to find. A community protected […] by a strong, locked gate, once you walk in you're in a tiled courtyard surrounded by lovely palms and fountains. The manager, a tall Dutchman named Ed, is new and one of the friendliest, most accomodating people I've ever come across in hotel management. Apparently he's new, and a huge improvement over the last manager a lot of people on this site seemed to find dissatisfying. Pros: - family friendly atmosphere. Sheltered community, very safe, locks on every entrance. - new manager. Most accomodating I've come across anywhere in the U.S. i do not use this description lightly. Ed is one of the nicest and hardest-working managers I've ever seen in the hotel industry. He freely offers his knowledge of San Juan to anyone who asks, and his positive responsiveness to requests is practically immediate. I happened to leave my passport in the hotel room and Ed mailed it to me the very next day only charging me the shipping. - privately owned by same person who owns Acacia and Wind Chimes. You can use the pool-sized jacuzzi at Acacia or the beautiful swimming pool at Wind Chimes for free with Casa's room key. These are resorts only several blocks east on Ashford. The free access is a huge benefit for economy travelers and students. - daily the rooms are cleaned, sheets and towels changed, and linens folded. Service is fast and efficient. - location location location. Every other hotel in the area is a multiple of the prices I paid for my room, and Casa is within easy walking distance of Enterprise (cheapest car rental in San Juan), casinos, the beach, and the SuperMax grocery store down Diego street, where you can buy liquor Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"clean, great location"
I read reviews before booking this hotel and it was exactly what i expected.. it lived up to its reviews and was as charming and quaint as everyone said it was. excellent service. amabilité et disponibilité à la réception.
