Very professional and courteous staff. The 10th floor breakfast room with spectacular views of the beach, city and the mountain range of El Yunque was a very delightful surprise. The facility could use some improvements, e.g., new room floorings/carpet. I enjoyed my stay @ HJ.

A bit older, as hotels go. But it is very close to the beach, even offering what can be called an ocean view, technically. Good access to said beach, and to public transportation, which is what we were looking for. The lobby looked very nice, but the room is clean, but had not gotten similarly spruced up. The room was good but there was a smell of huminity on the 2nd floor and the room. Parking was not included, i paid $8/day for it. Breakfast was normal. Service was great. Great location. I will come back to this hotel.

Hotel is located on Isla verde.. the place where everything happen... easily accessible by walk .. to famous food places, casinos.. etc. Only downside is Rooms are small.

MY STAY WAS VERY NICE. WENT WITH SPOUSE AND 2 KIDS ( 9 & 1.5 YRS ). WHEN ON VACATION HERE USED HOTEL MAINLY FOR SLEEP AND RELAXATION AFTER A DAY HANGING OUT WITH FAMILY. POOL WAS VER NIVE SMALL BUT JUST RIGHT. ONLY FLAW WAS THAT SHOWER HEAD STOPPED WOTKING LAST DAY OF MY STAY.

I have stayed at Howard Johnson hotel a few times over the years during my trips to Puerto Rico but this time I didn't like it too much. First of all, the room they put us in was too small and right across from the elevator. We have a baby and needed a crib and it wouldn't of fit so well so I asked for a bigger room. They gave a bigger room (room 602) […] but the bathroom was awful. The sink counter was broken and water would seep through the crack and wet the floor. The bathroom ceiling had mold all over it and peeling and stained. I didn't want to look up when taking a shower. The toilet got clogged and I had to ask front desk to take care of that. They were nice about it and did so quickly. The hallway when you got off the elevator had a really bad old trash smell which I also told the front desk about. They freshened it up but the next day it smelled the same way. One thing that we love about this hotel is that its right across the street from the beach and that it has a parking lot with lower rates than most other hotels. Breakfast is typical continental. Pros to this hotel, it is across the street from the beach, the pool is nice, parking is inexpensive, it is near a couple of good restaurants and is only about a 5 - 10 minute drive from the airport, free breakfast is good and is held on the 10th floor which provides a fantastic view. the hotel was very clean, friendly staff, nice breakfast included (oatmeal was yummy), orange juice, muffins, bread - cream cheese would be nice). They cleaned the room very neatly every day, the hotel is a block away from the beach, got room 807 with the view from the ocean :-). Will def. come back to this hotel. The room was very old and small and they advertised free breakfast which was a terrible joke. They had one pot of oatmeal and a few slices of bread. Nothing was refilled or replaced and we had to go elsewhere to eat. We booked the room because it is financially beneficial for us to feed the family breakfast when they offer it for free. Not the case […] here. Good location though. I would suggest looking elsewhere. The Marriott was the place to be for sure. More expensive but MUCH better and worth the price, right on the beach with a goregous pool and super nice lobby. Read more

Checking in was a nightmare, room wasn't ready, front desk agent said maids are at lunch when they get back the room will be ready, also said she doesn't work in that department. Front desk manager stood there and did not say a word to his front desk agent to the way she spoke to me, I will not recomment anyone to stay here, air condition was broken […] and hair dryer. Very rude staff. Assigned room without windows. When asked to change, staff was rude, plus asked for more money. Then after they ruined my trip they attempted to offer my a different room. Not recommended. No wonder Punta Cana is the place to go...and I am Puertorican.

Microwave wasn't clean, bed needed a new mattress, the remote control didn't change channels, maintenance need to make sure that everything is working properly. Bathroom had missing tiles behind door. A more variety of foods for examples, waffles, bagels and pancakes.

I was allowed to check in early in the morning right after our flight arrived. The staff was very helpful with our luggage and giving us directions to other side of the island as well as places to close by to eat. parking was a bit of a hassle as the hotel shares parking with the public not staying there. The bed was a bit hard but it's tolerable for […] one night. The room was small but very clean. The continental breakfast was on the 10th floor and the view to the surrounding area was spectacular..the host there was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Breakfast was mostly pastries but they were fresh, the coffee was very good. Overall our one night stay was very pleasant. The area surrounding the hotel was very nice, safe, beach across the street. This hotel suited us just fine. The pool looked very nice and attractive but with a beach and beach access just across the street we never used it. We could be out of our room and on the beach in just minutes. Only draw back was it was very humid. The climate control in the room worked just fine but there was a pervasive dampness. Breakfast was adequate, […] nothing fancy, just a continental breakfast but on tenth floor so a nice view. Hotel is on a main strip of hotels and condos. Restaurants and bars all with in easy walk. An internet cafe nearby for those without a laptop on hand. Plenty of police presence so never felt unsafe. I could stay at Isla Verde HoJo again. Read more

The room was in very bad condition. the towels were stained and thread bare, the air conditioning could not be adjusted and the tub was badly chipped. The toilet was not securely pinned down so in sort of danced when u sat down. The plumbing is very noisy and u can hear the upstairs toilet flushing throughout the night. They stuck us in a smoking room […] even though our reservation clearly said non-smoking. My husband and I having never smoked almost choked. Some of the staff were great . However, others were abrupt and uncooperative. It seems they get a commission off of tours etc so they only offer u these options. There is a guide book in the lobby and this was very helpful. The info they gave us was almost always wrong. We meet a guy at the bus stop who was much better informed. The continental breakfast was satifactory, the pool was nice. The resturant downstairs is very good for casual dinning and the are many fast food restuarant nearby. There is also an amazing police presents. Read more

We arrived around 9pm to check-in and the girl at the front desk did not have customer service skills about the details of our stay. I had to ask her where the pool was, at what time is breakfast serve etc., she didn't even look at me when she was speaking to me, I had to ask all the questions she was supposed to tell me as information as a guest. So […] I went to rm 510 there was this stinky smell in the hallway so I open the door to the room and OMG the horrible cat smell wreak in the room and there was a leak in the ceiling and pieces of the ceiling on the floor in the same area. I immediately went back to the front desk and requested a new room. I explained to the same girl the situation and she looked at me as if I was exgerrating the problem and I told her if you don't recognize that cat smell then you wouldn't understand. She got her manager and they changed my room to 504, well in that room a couple of lights did not work and the bathroom was not clean as it should of been. The shower curtain smelled like mildew and needed changing, the tub and toilet were not cleaned either. Luckly I had brought Lysol Disinfecting Wipes to clean the bathroom and floor. The room floor was also nasty looking that I would not walk on the rug w/out slippers and we also saw a small roach. Breakfast was also not good, the coffee had no taste, OJ taste horrible and they only provide one kind of cereal. For those of you who love Kellogs Raisen Brand then your all set to eat as many boxes as you like. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Read more

Nous revenons tout juste de nos vacances à San Juan( hotel Howard Johnson d'Isla verde)- periode du 27juin au 2 juillet 2010. Hotel agréable de 10 étages. Chambre confortable avec petite salle d'eau. Nous entendions un peu la route mais ce n'était vraiment pas génant. Plage à 40m! restaurants variés, pas chers à deux pas; Emplacement de cet hotel IDEAL. […] Pharmacie tout près, ainsi que loueurs de voiture. Grande piscine dans l'hotel avec transats. Salle de musculation; restaurant au 10ème étage avec vue panoramique. Nous étions en famille avec nos deux adolescent.il n'y a pas d'activités proposées par l'hotelmais nous le savions.A porto Rico, il ya tellement à faire et à visiter que nous n'aurions pas pu profiter des activités de l'hotel. Le séjour dans cet hotel a beaucoup plu aux enfants grace à la piscine, le confort des chambres et les copieux petits déjeuners continentaux. Read more
