Very helpful staff. We were able to check in earlier than advertised and this was great! We asked about nearby restaurants and were given a wonderful recommendation for a non-tourist restaurant. We liked it so much the first night that we returned the second night, after we looked around Rembrandt Square and didn't find anything comparable. The name […] of the restaurant is Szmulewicz, and it's just on the other side of the canal in an alley off Rembrandt Square. View of canal and people watching from was room was nice and the room was quieter than expected. Elevator helped with getting luggage to second floor, as stair case is a narrow spiral. I picked this hotel because of its location and canal view. It's location is very central and was within walking distance to EVERYTHING! It was much like staying in someone's house. Complementary breakfast on the first day was nice. Although it was a bit cramped, I would stay here again if I were visiting Amsterdam.

We arrived at the Eureka early in the morning after a long flight, and were given the warmest friendliest welcome by Paolo who offered us luggage storage, and a lovely breakfast until our room was ready. the breakfast spread was impressive, with a hotplate to cook your own eggs on, ready made eggs still warm and delicious, croissants, pastries, hams, […] jams and cheeses, coffee to order. Our canal view room was small but cute, clean and everything worked and we had windows that opened. Good comfy bed. We had bought a 3 day transport ticket, but discovered that we didn't really need it as everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. Over our whole trip, this hotel and especially Paolo and the other staff here stand out as the most helpful and welcoming. We would absolutely stay here again. Nice comfortable hotel, very relaxing atmosphere in a good spot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a luxury hotel this is probably not for you but if you want somewhere close for all the sightseeing spots, where you can relax and enjoy your stay then this is a good option. My husband & I stayed here for two nights in March 2012. We reached the hotel from the central rail station by taking the metro to Waterlooplein station & then walking. In hindsight would have been better to take tram to Rembrandtplein - just across the river from hotel. Hotel is in convenient location because of proximity to tram stop. Trams are best […] mode of transport in Amsterdam. Our room was on top floor which meant the ceiling followed the slope of the roof. Large timber roof beams had been deliberately painted brightly. Quaint but nice. Room was clean, well appointed and of good size for 2 people. Our room looked out onto a canal. Lovely. Did not seem to be a lot of staff handling the desk and the breakfast room. But the available staff were very friendly, helpful and obviously very effective in what they did. Breakfast was additional 10 euros per head and we were provided a complementary breakfast for first morning. It was a well provisioned cold breakfast of cereals, pastries, bread and yoghurt. But in addition there was hot plate that allowed us to do our own cooking for eggs and bacon. Great. Free internet available and there was a 6 euros per night room tax. In afternoon were able to purchase beer and wine (at reasonable prices) in breakfast room and enjoy sitting at tables overlooking the canal. Fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amsterdam House Hotel – Eureka and have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to other travelers. Read more
