Crowne Plaza Indianapolis - Downtown Union Station

Followed the signs to our room but apparently they were doing construction and we could not go the way we were directed and just had to walk forever to find our room. Then I was rudely awakened by the cleaning personnel in the next room complaining about guests who slept late. Thanks for that!

We were supposed to have two rooms and only had one available at Crown Plaza. The only room they had available was a king size bed and we needed double beds. Definitely was not impressed with this hotel, for the price of the room they were very small rooms. The pool in the pictures looks amazing but it was far from that. Overall not happy about how much I paid for a room.

The carpet was extremely dirty. There was lots of dust and dirt behind the bedside tables. The back of the bathroom door was very dirty and needed to be cleaned. Looked like splatter marks of some kind on the back of the bathroom door.

Good experience for the price. Repairs that have been made in the bathroom are quite noticeable and not well done. The lack of direct sunlight was not an issue given the overcast weather, but the window from the room looks out onto an indoor courtyard, not the outdoors.

Very nice hotel, Unique setting and very convenient to convention center and Lucas Oil stadium where we attended BIG10 championship game. Restaurant was very good too. Had nice dinner there and excellent breakfast buffet. Only complaints are parking on hotel website said self parking was $22 but actually is was $25 for checkin day until 6am next day […] and then hourly rates after that so total parking cost was $37. Also website said it included full breakfast. I booked for four guests but at check in was given voucher for only two guests for breakfast. I asked about that and was given another voucher so it worked out. Website should present more accurate information. Overall though hotel was great and service was great. Read more

The hotel was a fair price for being right downtown, but the parking was overpriced at $27.00 per night. Once in the room, our toilet didnt flush...they did fix it, the mirrror closet door about crushed my wife as it fell off and luckily hit the wall instead of her head (even more lucky it didnt happen to one of our kids) I did not call to reapir it, […] just fixed it up myself for the night. The idea of a train station is neat, but be prepared as the trains run heavily all night and you feel them as the walls, floors and everything on them shakes and rattles.The room is fairly updated and somewhat clean, but for a Crownwe Plaza, we must say we were very dissapointed. Also, the walls are so hollow you can hear everything going on...find that we get loud music at 3AM to wake everyone including the kids! Then the next morning everyone gets up to grab a little bite to eat, but there was only 1 option and that was a high priced full breakfast buffet! No option for the simple breakfast and go. I took the kids to use the pool and hot tub, only to find out the hotub was filled in with concrete and the pool being in the middle of open hotel, was freezing cold, almost as bad as being outside where it was freezing......the hotel air was cold and the pool not being in a seperate room really killed the idea of the kids geting in some play and swim before the long ride home.Overall I would give theis hotel a 2 out of 5 stars and would most likely skip it when we are in the area again! The hotel was a little noisy-the train noise was barely a bother though-it came through once at 12:30am or so, and that was it. The room itself was adequate space wise, but the bathroom was very small. The floor looked like it could have used a good vacuuming though in the corners ( a little dusty). I happened to be in a room near the lobby so there […] was a lot of talking and walking past my room which happened to be on a tile floor, so I heard footsteps alot! They should have carpet throughout the hallways so you don't hear that! I found the hotel lobby to be very warm as was the gift shop (like high 70's or low 80's). However, my room was a comfortable temperature. On the good side, this hotel is very close to everything, especially Lucas Oil Stadium (like a couple of blocks!) as well as shopping and restaurants. Staff very friendly. We loved our stay there but only two things were wrong. The room across from us were partying a little too loud and they kept their door open the whole time. Had to complain. We went to the hotel for a weekend get away. It wasn't until we got there that we realized it was actually a functioning train station. However, the rumble of the trains didn't bother me as much as the rumble of the staff carts on the tile outside of our room. It was very loud. Our room was set up for a handicap person, and was on the end of the hallway. […] Thought the room was nothing special and definitely not worth what we paid to stay there. The ambiance of the hotel is interesting, given that there are actual train car rooms. That wasn't very specific when booking either, because we would of rather had a train car room than our boring room that wasn't even up to date. Our stay at the Crown Plaza Downtown Indy hotel was extremely pleasant and convenient. The rooms were clean and hotel staff was very pleasant. The location is perfect. It resides just on the outer part of the heart of downtown and right next to Lucas Statdium. You don't have to fight much traffic but everying dowtown is in very reasonable walking distance. […] In fact they have a pedestrian walkway to the stadium. We arrived a bit early but we drove up and valet handled our parking and the bell man allowed us to check our bags until after the game when we would then check in. Highly recommend this hotel! Average grade mattress with a pad on top which moved with the bedding. Pillows too small for my preference. Not particularly comfortable. Special rate meant tucked into a corner with no window to speak of in the room. Non-working light bulb in the desk lamp, not sure how room was cleaned without it. Bathroom floor seemed somewhat dirty. Train noise […] was barely detectable. Zak in the restaurant offered exceptional service at breakfast. My fiancé and I stayed her for a few days when we came to Indy for a Colts game. The location is absolutely perfect! Lucas Oil Stadium is a 5-10 minute walk and you never even have to go outside,. You can just use the skywalk. Great location for food, drinks, and entertainment. The only negative aspect of the hotel is that the Amtrack station is right […] besides the hotel. 2-3 times during our stay, our room shook due to passenger trains arriving and departing the station. It was very fun to be in a place with history, it used to be an old train station and you can see the old structural of the pervious station and there was even old trains that you can rent a room in, we were able to peek in and they were so nice.

This hotel definitely needs an update. It's noisy, there were tiles falling off of the bathroom wall, I was very disappointed. I was also disappointed when I addressed my concerns with the management and they seem to brush me off. Not to mention you have to pay $26 for parking.

Our stay at the Crowne Plaza would have been lovely if we had been able to stay the entire night. A security guard began harassing us for a supposed noise complaint and came to our room twice within five minutes. He did not explain who he was or what the complaint was. He was EXTREMELY rude and condescending and raised his voice at me and my friends […] multiple times. When we contacted the front desk to see what could be done we were told they could not help. Hotel is outdated and a bit musty from the old trains. Always ask for a "quiet room" as those you feel the least amount from the train. Ask for a 3rd floor. Only trains still running are freight trains, but it isn't too bad... Doable and great location
