Most visitors begin and end their Southland jaunt at the Los Angeles International Airport. As the nation’s busiest immigration port, LAX is a modern Ellis Island. The airport, convenient to the Beach Cities, has its own tourist attraction. The retro-futuristic Theme Building, built in 1961, resembles a flying saucer. Today, it houses a restaurant.

Food was awful and when the manager was told, he took the plates away to the chef and did nothing about the check. Nice hotel for an airport location but food and service needs work.

This is an exceptionally nice Hilton for an airport location. Beautiful space and high on service. The concierge was helpful and friendly. The only issue I had was with the overzealous bellhop service. The hotel wouldn't allow me to bring my luggage up to my room on a cart unless the bell hop did it for me (expecting a tip). Having arrived from a transcontinental flight at 2 am, I really wanted to get my luggage to my room soon since I had an early a.m. appointment, was jet lagged, and wanted to get some sleep. I had to wait about a half hour for my luggage, after several calls to the front desk. It was just a bit odd that they wouldn't allow me to bring the cart up to my room myself if the bell hop was so busy.

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jul 27, 2009
The quality of staff service was great. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. However the conditions of the room were less than expected for the price that is paid. I know their is a premium for proximity to a major airport but the quality of the room didn't meet the Hilton standards, in my opinion. The bathrooms, although clean, were old and outdated. The room itself should've included a small refrigerator.

with all the hotels in the LAX area, this is the last one I would choose again. Meal in the 'sportsbar' was mediocre; room had no bath towels or face clothes and it took housekeeping 20 minutes to get them to the room. The TV cable did not work - we were offered a change of rooms, but by that time it was after 10:00 at night & anyway, we were settled in. With so many complaints it seems they would have comp-ed the room, but they did not. Not what we would expect of a Hilton!

Well, the rate we got was pretty decent. However, the cafe was totally over-priced and the food was not good at all. And the bar was ridiculously over-priced as well. The room was pretty clean and nice size. The fact that it was smoking made it even better. But, there was no hair dryer in the room after I specifically asked for one! If I were to recommend this hotel to anyone, it would probably be for the fact that it was smoking.

We used this hotel as a base for 6 days in LA. Rooms were clean and comfy. Eating in the hotel is very expensive so worth paying the 75 cents on the bus (which stops right outside) to go into Santa Monic about 30 mins away. Location of the hotel was good but in hindsight probably not the best for a 6 day break. Good tip: if you choose to stay here or any hotel near the airport for a few days and you want to do a bit of sight seeing, get the free shuttle bus on offer back to LAX and make your way to Union Station from there by bus . We ventured to Hollywood twice. The first time using public transport which took just over two and a half hours. The second time we went via LAX and it took HALF AND HOUR!!!!

What a great stay. There is a 24 Bistro that was great for a late night run for milk and apple juice for our kids and a little wine for us. Our room was a corner room with two walls of windows and felt secluded from the rest of the rooms. It was the most quiet hotel I have ever stayed in which is amazing considering we were at the airport. The only drawback was that our SUV was to tall to fit in the self park garage and it was an extra $10 a night to vallet it. We ended up parking in the parking deck right next to the hotel so that was not as convienent but saved money in the long run. All in all, I would go back and even request the same room.

Our room was excellent, but we never got it cool enough for our tastes, and were a little too hot all night. The bed was great. Bathroom was old looking but serviceable. Sliding Glass doors are horrible. Breakfast was 25 minutes late, and we had to eat in a hurry to get to the airport on time. The food was good, but eggs were obviously a little hard and cold. Dinner at the restaurant the night before was not good. Service was great, but food was poor quality, and very expensive. Two steaks, one bottle of wine, and trim was over one hundred dollars. I could buy better steaks at the local grocer.
