Brasserie du Louvre - Serving typical brasserie fare, such as seafood platters and hearty salads, this spot is popular with local theatergoers. The bright dining room has pale yellow walls, mahogany wood detailing, and leather booths. In summer, seating is available on the outdoor terrace overlooking the Palais Royal and Louvre Museum. A breakfast buffet (surcharge) is served here daily, as well as lunch and dinner.
Le Defender Bar - This intimate lounge/bar is decorated with black marble columns, a red lacquered ceiling, velvet upholstered armchairs, and whimsical modern touches by designer Olivier Gagnère. A full range of cocktails and light meals, including the specialty lobster club sandwich, are available throughout the day and evening.
The hotel's fitness room offers cardio machines and free weights. Guests also use running trails at the Tuileries Gardens (one block away), and a public swimming pool and bike rental facility at Les Halles (one-half mile away). A health club with aerobics classes is three blocks from the hotel.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.
By the Tuileries gardens on the Seine’s Right Bank, the Louvre museum dominates Paris’s cultural heart. Exclusive boutiques line Rue St-Honoré and Rue de Rivoli, and a shiny modern shopping mall occupies the old market of Les Halles. The 2nd is the finance and theatre district, containing the Bourse (stock exchange) and the Comédie Française national theatre. Châtelet–Les Halles station is the city’s biggest and busiest transport interchange.

My husband stayed here for a few nights while in Paris on our way to a wedding in the south of France and couldn't have been happier with our choice! It was because of all the great reviews of this hotel that we decided to book, and we were pleased with the location of the hotel in relation to sightseeing attractions, restaurants nearby, etc. We ate at restaurants that the concierge recommended, and were very happy with all of those recommendations. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and the hotel room was clean and comfy (small bed room by US standards, but you are in Europe!) We did have an actual king bed, not one made by pushing two twin beds together, which was nice. The bathroom was a lot larger than I am used to seeing in European hotels. Overall- great hotel that we would definitely stay at again in the future!

We spent four days here and really loved it. The room was great, and the staff and Concierge went out of their way to help us have a great stay. The Concierge was able to get us tickets to the Moulin Rouge, which we were not able to do before we left home. The neighborhood was safe and fun, and the Metro was right there. French jazz in the Bar was a nice suprise! We will stay here again the next time we come to Paris, without a doubt.

This hotel has a great location and a super staff. My daughter got sick and needed a doctor 2 days into our stay. The hotel concierge found an English speaking doctor and he was at the hotel within an hour. The only down side was the Junior suite had a separate room for the toilet not connected to the bathroom. It was a bit strange.

We stayed a week for our 10th anniversary. Upon arrival at 9:00am, they checked us into a lovely junior suite. I expressed disappointment that our view was of the inner "courtyard", and we asked if they had a room with a view. We went out exploring and when we returned that afternoon, we had been moved into another beautiful suite with a wonderful view of the Comedie Francaise. We loved everything about the room and the staff. The location is fantastic! We walked everywhere! There are so many cafes & restaurants in the area. We walked to nearly every meal and never ate at the same place twice. We would definitely stay at the Hotel du Louvre again!

This was a beautiful clean hotel in a central location. Metro station was literally outside the front entrance. Very close to stops for both city and tour busses, as well as the stop for the Batobus (ferry that runs a circuit around the river). Plenty of museums in close proximity, as well as an abundance of restaurants. Concierge was extremely friendly, patient and helpful. Most of the staff spoke English, which was a plus for me.

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Aug 8, 2009
Originally chose this hotel for room size, location, and price, but upon arrival and sightseeing, we realized that location is only so so. What I mean is that if you stay here you are near the Louvre and Notre Dame, but far from the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triumph. Likewise if you stay near the Eiffel, you are far from the Louvre, so nothing is really central in Paris. The size was nice for Paris, but the AC was poor and I was constantly hot, so in retrospect I'd prefer a small room with properly working AC. We realized the price is pretty average after meeting and talking to other visitors whose rooms were in better locations and more luxurious for the same price. The most obnoxious part was that we got the distinct feeling we were being made fun of by some of the staff. There were chuckles and the word Americans overheard many times. We did nothing to provoke this from the staff as we are world travelers who do our best to represent our country in a positive light. I feel that the staff perpetuated the stereotype of the rude Frenchman who hates Americans!

Hotel is at the center of Paris with the Louvre at the entrance of the hotel. The main metro line station arrives at the back door of the hotel. It is central to all of Paris and so convenient to travel by metro. The rooms are nice a little small for American standards. Halls could be cleaner but rooms are good. Service was good except for one concierge, a woman by the name of Rommy (spelling?). She was one of the worst service providers I have ever encountered at a hotel desk. She was rude and was disinterested in providing service to me, my wife and others in our party. She would not look up restaurants for us and suggested a restaurant by pointing out the door and down the street and you will find it. The other concierge and I worked with 2 others were kind and very helpful. They used the hotel's resources to locate restaurant reservations and provided maps for locations. One even went as far at to walk outside and give specific directions to the place. I think the hotel was a great place to stay and I recommend the location. Stay away from Rommy.

I had been here before, so I was a return customer. Granted, I can't afford to stay here for too many night, but my two night stay was really fantastic. I opt for the "delux" room (choice that's right above the basic room) for the King sized bed and the extra space. The building is beautiful and old and all things that make it the token hotel for the area. The rooms are comfortable, quiet, and very clean. There are multiple services throughout the day for each room: you'll notice that your room will be cleaned in the late morning (or at some point during the day), but then in the early evening they turn on your lights, close your curtains, and set the AC on a hot day. Just little details that count. The concierge is a real concierge who will hook you up with a table at a fancy restaurant (in my case, Costes, just a 12min walk down the street) that seemed to be booked when i called for a reservation. So, just a few examples of top service. This is an outstanding hotel that is very conveniently located. I highly recommend. I would recommend staying away from the Hotel bar. As pretty and ritzy as it is, it definitely doesn't warrant an 18euro cocktail. Other than that, it's an outstanding hotel.

The room was nice sized with a separate sitting area... the only negative was that the toilet was not in the bathroom, but in a separate room away from the bathroom. That was a minor inconvenience and did not affect our stay at all. I will stay there again.

This Hotel is all about location pure and simple. The service was better than typically French, but the rooms were exactly typically small small small and old old old. It reminded me of my Grandmothers house down to the smell, but without the plastic on the furniture. All and all, just okay, but with a subway stop location on the Louvre by the Orsay, Norte Dame, etc. It more than compensated for its shortcomings in decor and size. HUGE bonus...amazing breakfast with the best staff we experienced in Paris.

The Hotel du Louvre has been updated and improved from my first stay here 13 years ago. The common areas are nicely done and are comfortable. Although the majority of my visit was for pleasure, the few days of business I had were challenginig, in that the hotel rooms do not have WiFi access and you must access the internet from the hotel lobby. Also, the standard rooms are VERY small, which is customary for Europe. The hotel staff, particularly the concierge team are terrific and go out of their way to accomodate requests.
