Instead of a suite or oversized room (which comprises most of the hotel), we were in a small villa-type room that was not in any of the multi-story buildings. The room was very quiet, and had a ceiling fan, a cozy rocker seat with footrest, and a mini refrigerator. Our only complaint was that the room was VERY small. It was fine for a night, but we probably would have had to request a bigger room if we had stayed any longer. It was the perfect location. Right on the beach and in walking distance of many restaurants and trendy beach bars.

The Hotel was ok. however I think you could find better hotels in the area for the same kind of money or maybe a little bit more. Beware of the guy renting the beach chairs 18$ a piece, he will chase you and scream at you saying that you need to pay for it, if you barely touch the chairs. 2 Small pools, not bad. More like a family hotel if you can't afford a better one.

The Alden is located in a great area of St. Pete Beach. It is surrounded by other more expensive, and less expensive properties. I picked this hotel because it provided a full kitchen and a pull out sofa bed. This is a great option for large families (can sleep 6 comfortably with 2 double beds and a pull out sofa bed)and if a kitchen would be useful to you. This hotel may not have all the bells and whistles of a more expensive hotel, however it is right on the beach with 2 wonderful pools and a cabana bar. That is all we needed. The bar is only open till 9pm, so that is a negative. For the price, location, and the convience of a full kitchen this is the best hotel in the area in my opinion. If the kitchen and suite option is not important to you, then a more expensive hotel next door might be worth the extra money however I personally do not know what extra bells and whistles those hotels provide that account for the extra money.

I enjoyed this hotel very much. It was very clean and the staff extremely friendly. My pillows were hard as rocks, but the maid replaced them on a timely basis with just 1 request. I was on business so I had booked a room w/o a view because I knew I wouldn't be in the room very often. If I were going back for a beach vacation, I'd recommend upgrading for the additional expense to get an oceanfront room. I did get to use the pool and both were very clean and well kept. The beach looked inviting as well. I would use this hotel again.

The hotel is older and there is only one elevator BUT it is very clean, staff were very nice and helpful, and the pools were awesome! One of the hot tubs was out of service. The propane grill area was PERFECT for me and my 5 kids to save money and cook our own meals. Beach was clean and the parking lot was very secure and safe. Air conditioner in our suite went out on the 2nd night and within minutes a maintenance man was there and had it working. A hotel that can comfortably house me and my 5 kids for a week and is located on the beach with two suprr clean pools.....definately worth the money. Also the staff did not tolerate ANY partying or loud noises which was big for me with the kids. Family oriented hotel. The weight room was out of commision but to be honest...who cares...I was there to relax and mission was accomplished. Like I said it is an older hotel but for the money you can not beat it and the staff was great. We will definately be coming back here.

I gave the hotel excellent ratings even though when I arrived on Thursday, I was told that they had overbooked. I had reserved a courtyard room. Their solution was to offer an upgrade to a gulf view room on the 6th floor for the first night and then the following day move down to the 1st floor to a gulf view room for the next 2 nights. This was acceptable to me because I preferred the gulf view and was thrilled to get it at a great price.

Because they do not have food service, their room rate could be a little lower. Nice beach and easy access. Cabana's are nice but $18.00/day pretty steep. If you're there for a week, go buy a cheap umbrella and a couple of lawn chairs.

We spent one night at this hotel after we picked up visitors at Tampa Airport. Since we were early, the room wasn't ready, but they had a place to change and offered to call my husband's cell phone when we could check in, which they did. We had a 1-bedroom suite in Nassau, which had 2 queen beds in the bedroom, plus a sofa bed in the living room. Our daughter said the sofa bed wasn't very comfortable, which is often the case with those pieces of furniture. The staff was extremely friendly and the grounds are lovely. The restrooms off the lobby have a private shower with towels, soap, etc, which is a great feature for those who want to stay for extra beach time on check-out day. This is a very comfortable place and we will probably go back in the future.

The room was not very clean and we all had bites on our legs when we would wake up. It seems there were bugs in the mattress. The are no blankets on the beds and we found 2 in the closet that were so old, they became hard as cardboard. We could not get into our car fast enough to get out of there. Horrible place.

We were very happy with the location. We had a total of three rooms. They are a good size for a family of 4-5.Two of the rooms were on the 6th floor(nice view) the other on 2nd, and were all Nassau. Rooms are clean, but just ok, they really need to be updated. The airconditioner was a big problem for our and another family members room. No Air from the night till around 11am the next day.(Could here on their radio other rooms who also had no air). No compensation for our inconvience. The landscaping is very attractive, but is ruined by how dirty the pool area is kept. There were two beer cans, candy wrapers and mens underwear(wet at first) for two days left around the chairs of one of the pools. Gobs of hair etc. in the pool. Tables never wiped clean the whole time we stayed. There were four young children in our group and we hated having our kids here! Chairs are old with mildew. The elevator is filthy! We watched each morning some man skim the pool and move the chairs around but NEVER clean anything around it. So we spent most of the time on the beach, which is very nice. We got a fabulous deal on our rooms or we would have left. I stayed here 10 years ago and it was soooo much better. The place was full(maybe because they got really cheap deals like us!)We will never stay there again. We will spend the extra money and stay at the much cleaner hotel next door for $60 more a night, like we did last year!!!!

The Alden was great. We had a Lanai Suite on the top floor with a fab view of the ocean! The kitchenette was great as we brought stuff for breakfast and lunch and then ate our dinners out. We grilled one day for lunch on thier patio. Its nice, 3 gas grills, easy to use, picnic tables with umbrellas. We didn't use the pools but others used them well into the night! No comment on the cabana bar either, they did give us a bogo to use when we checked in but we never bothered. The cabana beds that are out back are not thier property and the guy charges 18.00 a day for them so bring your own umbrella and lounge chair for max comfort in the Florida sun. The parking for the hotel is covered, so are car didn't get to hot and location was great with TONS of places to eat within walking distance. The best place was Crabby Bills, sat at the bar and had fresh steamed oysters!!
