I suppose we could have stayed at the local high-rise chain hotel-- it would have had more amenities. But that would have been as soul crushing as it sounds, and the total opposite of the experience at the Delta King. This ship-hotel was such a pleasant surprise, right in the middle of Old Town Sacramento - and it really, actually is a steamboat with the cutest cabins, pretty and comfortable, with flair, too. Maybe a little frazzled at some edges, but not at all annoying as it is part of the historical flavor. We were looking for a 1 night fun place to stay on our way to Reno. The town and entertainment was just perfect for a visit. The restored boat was very nostalgic and we would definitly go again. There is music and lots of restaurants within walking distance, even a comedy club. For the amount of money I paid to stay I was shocked to find out that I had Monday $18.00 for parking. When I arrived I was told to take all my stuff (luggage) with me. I was giving a hand truck to carry my luggage and struggled down the ramp to where the fro t deskills was located. To my surprise and aggravation the thing would not fit thru the tiny […] door. It's wonderful being on the water in the middle of a metro hub. Very peaceful and restful. Loved being able to eat outdoors while enjoying the evening breeze. Staff was friendly, courteous and helpful.

Very nice stay on the river. Great restaurant and bar at the hotel. Watched the pleasure boats go by and a sea lion feeding while enjoying our diner. After diner watched the fireworks from a nearby baseball park.

Just loved staying at the Delta King. Free internet, very nice room. great ambiance on the riverboat. very peaceful and quiet (at least during the midweek). Great complimentary breakfast served in the restaurant. Loved it and would stay again.

What can I say - Room was very small, low ceilings, tiny bath, like a bad cruise ship - but we liked it anyway. Charming, being on an old riverboat and the included breakfast was wonderful. The staff were all very nice and helpful. Would I stay there again - probably not - but I'm not disappointed that we did.

The Delta King was a treat. It's a neat historical boat that sits on the river in Old Sacramento, so food, shopping, and entertainment are well within walking distance. Staying at the Delta King is a great way to start a day of meetings! I got up and walked along the Sacramento River along the river walk and then a bike path. We had stayed on the Delta Queen (DQ) during her travels down the Mississippi, so we were very excited to stay aboard the Delta King. However, the experience was very disappointing! The photo on Hotels.com IS NOT representative of your typical room - the rooms are very small (which we were aware of having been on the DQ) but your average traveler would […] find very uncomfortable. Our shower was clogged (surprising for a 4th floor room) which provided another inconvenience. The food WAS TERRIBLE .. we ate breakfast - in by 7:05am (7:00 opening) and even though there were only about a dozen people seated, it took us 1/2 hr to have our order taken - blamed on a lack of staffing by our waitress - the food was prepared POORLY - eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast, coffee and juice, nothing fancy - the bacon and potatoes were extra greasy - the potatoes so much so, that they were mushy - this is a simple breakfast obviously beyond the capability of the "chef" on duty. We would recommend visiting the hotel for its historic interest, but head to town to find a place to dine and send the night. Read more

Really, I was not expecting such a nice room for the price , on an old boat. They really take care of this old boat. Everything was clean and polished. My little room was charming. I read the paper, drinking coffee, as I looked over the morning river.

Where do I begin,There is NO PARKING for your car only valet which is $18.00 a day. There is street parking if you can find one and you have to feed the meter every few hours. I drove up to sign for the hotel & sign said parking full. I then drove to parking garage about 2 blocks away & checked in to find the sign means FULL for non hotel guest only. […] Leaving the garage it we $3.00 for the 20mins we were there. Dropping off the car we were taking 2 bags with wheels & the pathway was boardwalk like wood but more like telephone poles on it's side,If you have luggage make sure you can carry it. It was a good 100 ft to the gangway.The room was off the lobby. Quiet but small, the bathroom was large. Where the bed was located my head was 2 feet from the AC unit.We needed the air on but I have to make a diverter for the air which I didn't like blowing on my face. We had dinner there which was a treat since we ate on deck outside & food was good. The ship was interesting to explore. We stayed one night. We thought the room may have been a bit small but it was so cozy and the staff was great. We are looking forward to coming back again hopefully now that we know the layout reserve a room a bit larger. Sinner was wonderful, excellent the Rib-eye melted in our mouths Wow we we/are very pleased.

It was EXCELLENT! Of course, the staff upgraded my room from standard to deluxe so I don't know if I would have given the same review otherwise. The room was very nice. The clawfoot tub and antique toilet (not to worry - held even my girth) was a wonderful touch. The room was spotless and there were plenty of outlets for my stuff. They had secure wi-fi […] (far better than unsecured) that you didn't need to go through ads to access. The complimentary breakfast was made to order and not just cookie cutter or self-serve. For $5 more I received a wonderful quiche on an actual riverboat! The comfort was only a 4 because even in deluxe the room was a bit small and tilted (it IS a riverboat). But really a great value for the room. Go and stay there often! Read more

The place was clean and friendly. My big problem here were the beds. The room was clean and looked nice but the bed was an old spring mattress that was uncomfortable and loud when you moved. Bathroom and shower are small but not unexpected considering your on a boat. I wouldn't stay here again unless they replaced the mattresses.

Cute and unique place to stay, in heart of Old Town Sacramento. But beware of the valet. We used it for one night and now my 4 month old paint job is missing a chunk of paint about the diameter of poker chip. So far, no restitution.
