"good hotel in a great location"
The highland inn is definitley old and pretty worn down but that's just part of it's charm. Very friendly service and very close to little 5 points and the big city. Close to restaurants ad shopping. A must visit if you're staying in Atlanta. This was my second stay here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Cute quirky little place"
Great little place in the Virginia Highlands neighborhood. Would definately return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value, location, eatery- but a bit run down"
Location, price, restaurant was really good. But would it kill them to replace the old soiled red carpet everywhere? and put in some new shower heads to replace the old cheap little ones? The bathrooms and carpets bring this cool old inn down several notches. But overall I'd go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The place to stay"
Perfect location, great price. No reason to stay anywhere else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very quaint. It is an Inn after all, so don't expect luxury. I chose it for its locale and price. I was satisfied. Breakfast btw includes the basics: coffee, small muffins, bagels, cereal, milk & juice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't Hesitate!"
This is a great old hotel with ample parking, friendly staff in a safe neighborhood. There is a neighborhood bar a block down the street and places to eat within walking distance. This was my second stay at this hotel and both times (7 years apart) were awesome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Variety Theater"
If you are looking for a generic chain hotel, don't go here. The Highland Inn is an older , eclectic property in the great Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta. It is old, but very clean, and everything in the room was in good working order. Lots of great shops and dining within easy walking distance, and plenty of free parking. The other guests appeared […] to be somewhat bohemian and were all quiet and well-mannered. The continental breakfast was great and plenty of food was available. A great value for the money and a much more interesting experience than staying at a motel 6 type property. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"No other hotel necessary"
I wouldn't stay anywhere else while in Atlanta. This hotel is not for people wanting instant access to tourist locations; stay downtown. Instead, the Highland is for those who want to live like Atlanta residents. Local restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. I loved it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
this hotel was great for what we needed.if you are looking for a fancey upscale place to stay, this is not for you. real small cozy rooms, very clean and very friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect for Exploring Funky Nieghborhoods"
Quaint little hotel like you find in Europe. Small room with skinniest shower I've ever seen. Staff helpful and friendly. Perfect for our short stay. Free parking. Location great for exploring Midtown, Virginia Highlands and Little Five Points on foot. Close to Carter Museum.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I used to live in this area and this is the only hotel near all of my favorite places in the highlands. I thought it was a great price for the location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"WYSIWYG"
Super Quaint Hotel makes You Feel Like Gumshoe From The 1950's. Tiny Rooms With Keys Not Cards. Don't Think The Ladies, Spouses Will Care Much For It. "Reasonable value"
The older hotel is bit rundown but fairly clean. My room was very small, with a tiny bathroom typical of the era the Hotel was constructed. Every layer of decoration is still on the walls giving it a patina that is not very appealing. Doors offer no sound attenuation and the small room is not very conducive to anything except sleeping. The location […] is great, however, and for me the trade off was worth it. I would consider staying there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hidden Treasure"
This hotel is in the heart of Mid-Town. Great neighborhood for afternoon stroll. Although hotel is older and a bit eclectic, it was very clean. We enjoyed our stay but for two things. Doors are thin allowing you to hear every word of normal conversations in the hallway, even at 2 in the morning and the continental breakfast was little more than bags […] of stuff from the grocery store. "Great value and a unique experience"
I've never stayed in a non big name hotel before, but I wanted to stay close to the center of Atlanta without spending a huge amount of money. I knew that it was an old historic hotel, and was expecting it to be dirty and smelly. I thought the price would mean bad service; which I was okay with since it was only for two nights and wasn't planning to […] spend much time there anyway. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a very welcoming and friendly front desk staff. Followed by a very clean room. It still was a very old building, which was evident by the creeky and unlevel floors, old doors, key locks, original structural features etc; But all were well maintained and clean; no dust buildup, no grime buildup, no cobwebs. The heat was controlled centrally so if you got too hot, you just open the window. No issue there. There was only one minor issue. It is advertised as having Free Parking. However, It's only Free if you all the spots aren't taken up.Since there was an event being held in their ballroom, spots were used up by non-hotel guests. I could also see the spots easily being over filled even by hotel guests only. The roads nearby have very confusing parking restrictions. I live downtown in another city so am used to the parking spot hunt, but I think they should make this clear before booking that parking is free but limited. And then have a map or something showing exactly where else you can park. Keep up the good work! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quirky neighborhood hotel"
Older building with character. Like going back in time to the 1920s. Eclectic artwork, older furniture, updated bathrooms, creaky hallways. Not a Hilton. But who wants a Hilton? Fun local neighborhood to stroll/shop/eat in the evening. Great rates for a city hotel. Simple sufficient breakfast included.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Big room, great neighborhood!"
I was traveling with a friend so we needed to book 2 beds. When we got to the room, we were stoked to see it was a suite (there was a kitchenette too, but we were really just there to sleep)! The beds were comfy and the room was clean and warm. Cute outdoor courtyard in the middle of the building. Wifi worked great. Staff was pleasant and welcoming. […] It was like staying at your friend's house while she's away, if your friend makes the beds and gives you breakfast. So many fun bars, shops, restaurants, thrift stores all within a 10 minute walk! We were so happy with this gem that we stayed again the next week. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Simply awesome!"
Beautiful hotel! It is located in the middle of just about everything, whether in walking distance or a short drive. The free parking was definitely a plus. From the maintenance staff to the front desk, everyone was extremely pleasant and super accommodating. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy Access to Downtown"
I booked this hotel in Atlanta for a conference. It was perfect for that situation. When I arrived, there were plenty of free parking spaces down the long narrow alley adjacent to the hotel. The checkout process was quick and painless...none of the employees were corny and over-the-top "How can I help you?" "Enjoy your stay", yet they were efficient […] and nice. The inside definitely possesses a true european-style hotel, because it's a bit rough but very clean. I truly loved my experience at the hotel. The quirkiness, cleanliness, and retro style is something I appreciate. There is a continental breakfast, which I really appreciated, considering I was late getting out the door. Overall, I'm not sure if the hotel is best for families, because there is a bar/ballroom below the hotel, which may be loud at times. It's essentially perfect for a group that needs downtown access, or close proximity to Little Five Points. I can't wait to return! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"European-style hotel in cool neighborhood"
The room was very small with old-school furnishings...Comfortable and old-fashioned charming though. Lots of weird noises at night, pipes rattling and such. Felt a little bit like a hostel. I thought the hotel was very charming. Very cute fountain on the outside, and I liked the decor of the rooms. The walkable neighborhood was nice too. My only complaint was the wi-fi. The signal was very weak, and I had to connect to the web via my phone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

If you are looking for a ritzy modern hotel, this is not it. But, if you love vintage buildings with lots of character and a homey feel, this is your place. The price is right, too. "Very small and old hotel."
DOWNSIDE: Hotel was very old and room is very small. There was no water pressure in the bathroom sink, only a small water flow that is not enough to even wash your hand or brush teeth. Total room and bathroom size is probably just 120 sq ft. You get a physical key, not your typical card key. UPSIDE: free parking and dependable WiFi. Response by The Highland Inn Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. The room that you payed for online was a standard single room. We do offer an array of room types and in the future we will be happy to upgrade you. Being an older building sometimes sediment will clog the screens on the faucet and it takes only a few minutes to replace. Sorry for any inconvenience this caused you.
