Beautiful hotel in an amazing location. Staff could have been more friendly but it was not a big deal. The rooms were amazing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very well updated AND a great locale"
I usually stay in a different section of Paris, closer to my business interests there - but no more. My room at this hotel was small, even by Parisian standards - BUT - it was really nicely updated and very stylish. When I add in great staff, the wonderful surrounding neighborhood, and the easy access to public transit (including the 10 euro RER "B" […] train direct to CDG), I think I have found a new favorite Paris hotel. "Comfortable, quiet, very nice location"
Location is on a nice little side street lined with cafes, very close to the Pantheon and Luxembourg Garden. Near the garden is an RER train station. The metro is a bit farther, but you can take the RER and transfer to the metro at the big transit hub (Chapelle les Halles), or take one of the frequent buses on the nearby main street. However, it is […] not that close to the metro. We had a triple room that was right facing the street on the ground floor, so we had to keep the curtains closed, but it was very quiet despite the location. The hotel breakfast is ok but a bit pricey at 10 euro: there are many more reasonable breakfast options nearby. We needed little help from the front desk, but when we did they were helpful and speak English. Overall we were very satisfied. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
""Elegance, Convenience and Amenable""
This Hotel was chosen at random, and it turned out to be a very serendipitous experience! As it is located in the "Heart of Paris, situated blocks from Notre Dame, Le Jardin du Luxembourg, the Musee De Cluny, The Pantheon and adjacent to the Sorbonne this Hotel made for a perfect "Paris" experience through and through! "Awesome hotel, top service"
We stayed for a one night visit to Paris and booked two triple rooms. Rooms were very spacious and location was great walk to Notre same and right near the RERB line which takes you right back to the airport. So many cure cages within walking distance. "Great Location, Friendly Staff, Clean Rooms"
I stayed here with my wife for four nights in August 2013. On our arrival, the concierge made us feel very welcome, and we were able to get into our room several hours before the check-in time. The same concierge also recommended an excellent restaurant nearby, and this made for the most enjoyable evening of our trip. Compared to hotels in London and […] the US, I found that (as an American), I had to adjust to a few things, though I wouldn't count these as negatives, and I'm not sure how they compare with other hotels in Paris. Instead of a shower, the hotel had a bath with a low detachable shower hose. Not a big deal, ultimately. The room lacks an iron, but you can ask to use an iron on the lower level. The area isn't ideal for ironing many clothes. Dressing to descend and request the iron takes a little more time than having it in one's room. If the area was more amenable, you might iron all of your clothes at one time at the very beginning of the stay. At one point I requested a wake up call, and it never came (I saw the concierge write it down though). I thought perhaps a lack of communication between concierges at shift changes made me have to repeat requests, and led to the wake up call being neglected. Finally, I prefer a fairly cool room for sleeping (65-67). That's not often environmentally friendly of course. But don't count on that here. The air unit, being in the bathroom (partially open floor plan), was not well positioned to cool the whole room very much. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Tiny Tiny rooms"
The room was way too small. Absolutely not what you'd expect when looking at the room pictures. When dropping off our suitcases, we barely had room to get to the bed; and that's pretty much it. They also don't have cable; just over the air TV; and Internet was quite slow.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location Location Location"
Centrally located in Paris right next to Universite De La Sorbonne , great cafe/bistro/restaurants next door . walking distance to La Seine and Notre Dame . Paris metro 2 minutes away . Great staff spoke english , very helpful with maps and tourism info . Room was well air conditioned , clean with a view of La Place De La Sorbonne and large enough (by […] Paris standards) only downfall to my room was that the bathtub's shower nozzle had no way of being connected high enough to shower (workable but you may want to ask about this) . Hotel has an elevator . Neighborhood is safe , with a couple of stores that stay open late just in case you feel like having a late night snack with a nice bottle of wine . Hotel is about 20 to 30 minutes away from Charles De Gaulle airport , taxi fare is about 35-40 Euros ; taxis back to the airport are easy to find , no need to pay for "special" transportation . On a side note if you have time , take a train ride to the town of Bayeux in Normandy and visit the D-Day beaches as well as other historical wonders (can be done in a day but two would be better) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location, mellow university neighborhood"
A bit pricey but location makes up for it. Two metro stations (St Michel, Cluny) on different lines were very useful. Rooms are on small side despite obvious modernization/renovation with some quirky design decisions (although the toilet had a door, the bathroom didn't so only couples not shy of each other can make the tub situation work). Nice to walk […] in and out on a quiet plaza though(Place de la Sorbonne) and the university vibe makes eating out and exploring fun. You can go to Notre Dame, the Pantheon, Cluny Museum etc and literally run home for an afternoon nap. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Comfortable "Americanized" hotel for our family"
I booked three rooms for my family, one triple and two doubles. Very comfortable hotel located adjacent to the Latin Quarter. Easy walk to Notre Dame and Luxembourg Gardens. We had three small children (ages 10, 8 and 3), and we found the hotel very comfortable for our family.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location but the rooms are VERY small and the elevator is even smaller. Not what American travelers would be comfortable in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, modern hotel across from Sorbonne"
The location of this hotel can't be beat, right on the pleasant Place de la Sorbonne, filled with cafes and people. There is a small elevator in case you come with baggage, and the free afternoon tea is spartan but nice. Room was a good size for central Paris, and quite clean and modern. Very close to Cluny/Sorbonne and Luxembourg Metro/RER stations. […] A good choice if you need to be on the Left Bank, particularly near the universities in the area. The hotel was great. Small (in that Euro way), but very efficient and comfortable room with nice appointments. I only stayed 1 night. "Great Paris Hotel"
Loved the location and the staff. The Sorbonne is literally outside the front door. Nice pedestrian zone, so quieter than other hotels in the area. "Great location, fair price"
We really enjoyed this hotel. The location can't be beat -- pretty central to everything and walking-distance (if you're up for a nice stroll) to places like Notre Dame and the Louvre. It's on a lovely square too, which makes it really easy to tell taxis where to take you and also provides a nice feel when walking back. The staff was all very helpful […] (and spoke English). The room was quite clean, and quite functional. It was small, but for this price in the heart of Paris, you can't reasonably expect more. It could use a few small, easy improvements -- like towel hooks in the bathroom and a high-ish hook for the shower hose so it didn't have to be held but could actually function like a shower. (I never understand why hotels don't do cheap, easy fixes like these would really enhance the experience.) But anyway, yeah, great place. Would stay again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location! Close to Metro and walkable to Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter. Loved the decorating- tres nouveau! Rooms were clean but small- too be expected in Paris. The layout made it seem larger. Day staff was very friendly and helpful- night staff not so much! The only downside was that there was a step in the room between the bed area and the […] door that was a safety hazard- I kept missing the step and almost spraining my ankle. Overall, I would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hotel better than expected."
The hotel is next to the Sorbonne University. It was tucked away and it is a great place to stay. All the staff speak English as well and are very helpful in helping you find what you are looking for. They provide a map of the city with bus routes on it and the metro. Take the bus its a great way to see the city and get familiar with things. We arrived […] early and they stored our luggage for us (i was nervous at first) but they even then delivered it to our room. There are no washcloths in the room bring some from home as they don't have them at the hotel. We got moved to a different room after the first night bc it didn't have a shower only a bath tub. Bathrooms are very small as is the room, but I was expecting them to be small. don't expect them to be large but they are big enough for your luggage and a bed and walking around room. The bathroom is pretty small though, no shower curtain in the shower so water escapes easily, shower was AWESOME the rain shower head really was great after a long day of walking. We only slept in our room so it was perfect, you don't go to Paris to stay in your hotel anyway. The wifi was free and worked fine for imessage and facetime, etc. The room keys are weird though you have to turn it 2x to get it to unlock. Food is nearby as is the Luxembourg and Notre Dame. Take the Luxembourg metro or the Sorbonne metro same distance from the hotel. In room safe, bedding, towels changed daily, quiet little place and very modern. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Does not qualify as 4*"
This hotel is OK if you are expecting a high 2* or a mid-level 3*. My room, and the lack of service did not qualify for 4*. the room was very small, with one electric plug in the room and bathroom combined. Desk too small. The shower area was too small, and the shower hose was too short. The elevator was the smallest I have ever seen. No service with […] luggage - in fact, no service. "Nice, clean and convenient"
This sweet, recently refreshed hotel is on Place de Sorbonne, at the very heart of the Left Bank, minutes from Luxembourg Gardens and the Pantheon in one direction and the Seine and Notre Dame in the other. The plaza has some great restaurants that spill out into the plaza, with lots of college kids and olders. We will happily return againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location but lacking in some areas."
Room was very clean despite being small as expected for Paris. Staff was very friendly, and the location was ideal being about two blocks from the Metro/RER stations and within a 10-15 minute walk to the river, Notre Dame and Pantheon... which if you're visiting Paris, you'll want to walk anyway. We did have a broken toilet which after 36 hours of reporting […] and one attempt to get fixed was not resolved and we did end up moving rooms. The elevator was out of service three times during our 5 night night stay which if you're on the higher floors and came from a long day of walking the Paris streets is not the best way to make a crash landing to your room. Outside of these two issues, everything else was great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This has become my new favorite hotel in Paris. Everything about this hotel is wonderful ... the service, the location, the room, the amenities - I was so pleasantly surprised. This is a very nice boutique hotel in a great location. There are two metro stops within a short walk. You are also walking distance to many of the main sites. "Lower than our expectations !"
We booked online. The photos of the rooms are deceiving as well as the description. The room was tiny. No place to put anything, barely room for our suitcases. No shower in bathroom - just bathtub. We asked to upgrade to a room with a shower and was told there was none. Hotel staff was not friendly. Called a few times to ask simple questions and staff […] was very short and a bit condescending. "Paris is Magic!"
My partner and I went to Paris for Christmas - we are starting a new tradition of getting away for the holiday rush. The Select Hotel - Rive Gauche was absolute perfection. "Small and affordable rooms at excellent location"
I've been to Paris now three times, every time for a 3-4 night stay, and each at a different place, and this one was the best. The location was fantastic, right by the University and the Luxemburg gardens. The rooms are very small, but very comfortable and clean, and definitely reasonably priced.
