I'm partial to Kimpton Hotels and have stayed at The Muse before. The free wine happy hour, the exceedingly nice staff, the location, the palatial (by NY standards) rooms (depending on which one you get), the free wifi and mini-bar goodies (last two for Kimpton members) all add up to a great experience. As with the last time, the room they gave us first […] night was not terrific and as with the last time, they moved us to a better room for the remainder of our stay. We wanted to stay close to midtown west side, so location was perfect, though not picturesque. "Dirty Hotel"
We decided to try this Hotel bc of its close proximity to Times Square. We arrived and noticed that our sheets were stained. The maid came to replace the sheets with another set of sheets that were also stained. This time with urine. The hotel staff manager then brought up another set with a huge stain on the inside. After 3 stained sheets we spoke […] to the hotel manager Melissa who offered no explaination for the stains and a mediocre compensation for our troubles at best. She actually said that they could call other Kimpton properties but they could not guarantee that the sheets would not be stained. We were completely shocked. We came to New York to shop, see a play and go to the 9/11 Memorial. The Muse was in a great location. Upon arriving in our room , the toilet was never cleaned, urine was all over the front of toilet. Asked for a liner for our ice bucket took over 1/2 hour, we actually went to front desk , and they said to go back and wait in our room, they didn't have anything to help us. We were on the 5th floor and you hear all the road traffic which is horrible, […] especially because the garbage is picked up at night.
