    Villa Pitiana
We stayed here for 3 nights and used it to tour Florence and the surrounding area. The hotel staff was extremely helpful. The restaurant was great and while we were there they had a wine tasting dinner that was a definite must! It is 30-40 minute drive to Florence which isn't the best. But it was nice to be out of the city and in a quieter area. They have kept the villa in its original state, except a few areas where they have modernized the furnishings. This is a little strange. The rooms were very large and had a great view of the gardens and valley. One significant complaint was the rooms do not have any sound proofing (curtains, rugs, etc) and it was possible to hear everything in the next room....More

    Villa Pitiana
We spent our first two days of our vacation here mostly to have a nice relaxing place to recover from jetlag. It's a very pretty and old (but well restored) building at the top of a hill overlooking the valley. A beautiful view and a very nice place to drink wine on the patio an watch the sunset. The pool is quite nice, clean and new, but freezing! I only recommend going in on the hottest of days, which is very refreshing. The property itself is a great place for a walk through olive trees, though not extremely long and you are limited to the property lines. The restaurant was good but a tad expensive compared to other restaurants and hotels we experienced. I would highly recommend eating at the little osteria/trattoria in Sant Ellero right where you turn to go up the hill to Doninini. It was probably one of the best meals on our entire 2 week trip (and also one of the cheapest). The villages around the hotel aren't extremely exciting, but good places to explore and eat...November is a good time to do olive oil tasting in Regello. There was a wedding at the hotel while we were there and it seems like the place is well set up for that. Oh yeah, lastly the room. We stayed in the older side (formerly monks quarters) which was large and clean but fairly bare bones and the bed was not very comfortable, but we didn't care too much. The bathroom was nice, so I have the impression that other rooms in the hotel might have been nicer (ask ahead I guess)....More
