Fiesta Inn La Paz
Fiesta Inn La Paz is beautifully landscaped, and the rooms are simple but very nice. The ocean view is lovely. The pool and restaurant are small but very nice, with a relaxed and friendly vibe. Visitor who speak English only will have no problems- there are always one or more people available at the desk or restaurant who speak fluent English.
The marina is brand new and absolutely first class (and fun to look at). Avoid the marina restaurant Bismark- which has terrible food and several rip-off scams ("sorry, we have no drinking water", "please pay the tip in cash" (although it's already on the bill under an acronym- the only restaurant where this is true). The other marina restaurant is excellent.
The beach is small but nice- if you plan to use it ask for a note in Spanish from the desk, because the security guards for the Villas will try to chase you off. You could snorkel on the right hand side, along the artificial wall.
A rental car would be a good idea here, to get to town (South) and to the really awesome beaches to the North. You can always take a taxi to the beach, but you can't always get one back. Ballandra Bay is huge and only waist deep- great for kids (and has very clean sand- no mud). Tocolote beach is an experience- that's where the families from town go and it's very lively. Surf shoes are a good idea at the shallow beaches, as there can be stingrays....More

Fiesta Inn La Paz
Deluxe room small, but clean. Bathroom needs updating but clean. Stayed one night only. Room on 4th floor over pool area, nice view, but kids screaming till dark and this is offseason. Pool bar closed so had to go to dining room for a drink. Restaurants next door in marina area, easy safe walking distance and well lighted. Dinner at Azul was good. Was on yacht in marina cruising all week so location of this hotel for last night stay fine. Did not go into town. Concerned about getting taxi at 5am for 1/2 ride to airport, but concierge assured us no problem. Taxi was there waiting for us. There's all kinds of construction going on all around so this hotel will need to have a renovation to keep up with the new surroundings....More
