    Ocotal Beach Resort
My husband and I were exceedingly pleased with the Ocotal Beach Resort. We chose the resort because it was one of few in the area that offer completely in-house scuba diving certification courses. The course was awesome, but so was the stay! We checked in after hours- the hotel was a little hard to find and behind a few security gates. Once inside, we got to our room and were very impressed- the room was a little on the small side, but had a large bed, a flat screen TV, and charming decor. The bathroom was older but clean. It was perfect for the price we paid. In the morning, I woke up to one of the most beautiful views! The hotel is located on a bluff right along the pacific ocean! If you can, request a room in the 400s- this group of rooms is at the highest point (requiring a little bit of a hike) but they have the best views. Sunsets too were amazing. Breakfast in the reastaurant was always delicious and timely. Dive shop services were great. Ocotal is about 5-7 minutes from Playa del Cocos which has a nice array of restuarants if you want to do something different than the hotel. Towels and pillows could have been nicer...but that's being really nit-picky. Overall, if you are looking for a "resort" in the sense of someone waiting on you all the time with spas and flowers and massages, etc Ocotal is probably not your best bet. But if you want a high value, quiet, charming experience- I highly recommend! Also, if you have questions, go to their website and send an e-mail- they were always very good about getting back to me....More

    Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa
The hotel was good. Our room was very comfortable and big. The pool area is very nice. From the outside you can tell the hotel is old but once you walk in it's pretty nice. It IS right in front of the beach, contrary to what other reviews have suggested. It's a great place to go with kids and it's very close to many beaches so you can always go visit some other beaches during the day. The food was good (although we only had breakfast there). I had a great experience and for the price i would recommend it to anyone....More

    Paradisus Playa Conchal All Inclusive
This hotel is a scam. It is false advertising all the way. I was not given the specific type of room I had reserved, and ended up having to pay Royal Service fees to get a room big enough for my teenage son and me. Royal Service is a scam. You do not any extra services. You get to swim in the Royal Service pool and eat in the Royal Service restaurants. But no one can join you if they are not Royal Service. They can't even visit you in your room! Nothing runs smoothly. There is a caste system between the people in Royal Service and regular service that's degrading. The food in every restaurant is horrible. The bill at the end of your stay is presented to you in Spanish. You have no idea what the charges are or what you are being charged for. On further review, you find you are being charged for things you never did, trips never taken, hidden charges you were never told about. We were 11 people in all different types of rooms and service, and we were all unhappy. I was literally help captive when I wouldn't sign a bill with false charges -- they wouldn't drive me and my son with our suitcases already in the trolley car to the part of the resort where we had to meet the taxi to bring us to the airport. I was forced to sign the bill in order to get to the airport on time. I am now disputing charges via my credit card service....More
