    Aurora Alice Springs
The hotel brochure stated it was recently refurbished, but that wasn't obvious to me. Two double beds were jammed into our room, one blocking the sliding glass door that was the entrance to the room so that it was difficult to get large suitcases in. The carpet was stained, bedspreads were faded. The hotel backs to Todd Mall, Todd Mall, which is the main shopping/entertainment area in Alice Springs. However, to access it, we had to go through the hotel's restaurant, Red Ochre Grill. I came to believe this was for security purposes, as there are many vagrants who hang out on the mall (which we found to be a little seedy). The Red Ochre Grill restaurant was advertised as "award winning." I wasn't ready to try kangaroo or emu, and stuck to beef and fish. I appreciate fine food, and was underwhelmed with what I ordered. However, my two fellow travelers were thrilled with their corned beef in mustard sauce. The corned beef was lean and exceptionally tender. I wish I'd ordered what they did!...More
