Metropole Hotel
Compared with other hotels in other countries this trip, the Metropole was pretty much average. I loved the staff....very attentive and caring. But there is an invisible code in Vietnam that says your friends cannot go to your room without being thought of as prostitutes or other illicit visitors. Few Communists are very good business people. The government needs to get out of the hotel business and away from this "American War Crimes" bulls--- lest Americans and others not come. The Calley case and others not withstanding, plenty of brutality was committed by each side in that war. The government needs to serve its people starting with eliminating the Reconstuction-like environment in the US 1870s, giving parity in treatment of northerners and southerners, and continuing with roads and traffic controls. You have to strain to see a traffic cop, and motorbikers need helmets....More
