Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa
Great hotel - it is a large place with excellent grounds. The beach, however, is not suitable for the place. It is rocky and relatively small. Room service also rarely picks up the phone.
However, it has a few good restaurants on-site and is close to the docks and nightlife at Red Hook.
The bathrooms were roomy, and the brunch great!...More

Carringtons Inn
With the nicesest couple owning Carrington Inn, a visit with them is worth the while. Great view from the hotel overlooking Christiansted. Even in hot weather the hotel is nicely situated to get a great wind, making sitting outside at the poolside, a pleasant experience. An easy ride to Christiansted and only 20 minutes from the airport. Well worth a stay and the savings make up for the distance to town, 1-2 miles.
The Carrington breakfast is soon becoming legendary....More

The Westin actually has their own ferry that will take you from St. Thomas to St. John, but it is significantly more expensive than the public ferry ($50 per person vs. $6). Also, if you are going to explore other beaches on St. John, definitely rent a car. Besides cabs being expensive, availability of cabs is spotty at any beach other than Trunk Bay....More
