Unipark Hotel
Our trip to the Galapagos included stays at the airport-close Hilton, but I wanted to get downtown to see a little of Guayaquil so I booked the Unipark based on the recommendations at hotels.com. The staff was reasonably efficient, but could hardly be called "friendly." The room included a large, dark sitting room (which we had no use for), and although the bathroom and linens were clean, the carpeting, drapes, and furniture were aged and dingy. Lot of street noise (we were on 6th floor), but that all came to a halt at around 11 p.m. The hotel is attached to a smallish, local shopping mall which we had to walk through in order to get to the elevator that went to our floor. A little creepy after hours. I can only say that the mall did not hold any items of interest. All in all, it was an interesting experience, but it was overpriced, I would not recommend it to a friend, and I would not consider going back....More
