Sofitel Ouaga 2000
Sofitel Ouaga 2000 is known by locals I spoke with as the #1 hotel in the capital city. It is modern, well-equipped, and offers most familiar higher-end services. My stay was excellent -- with a few exceptions. First, my requested airport transfer, which I re-confirmed a day before arriving, never materialized and I had to make my own way from the frenetic airport to the hotel. Second, the business center was uneven at best, with a surly manager and inconsistent opening and closing times. Sofitel Ouaga 2000
The Sofitel Ouaga 2000 is a good, comfortable, and clean (and expensive) hotel, but it does not deserve a 5-star rating. It is likely the best hotel in Burkina Faso and seems to be the most upscale hotel in Ouagadougou/Ouaga 2000, but it lacks amenities that 5-star hotels in other countries have (like alarm clocks and irons in the rooms; a decent Internet connection; etc.). Visitors to the hotel will enjoy their stay nonetheless especially if they take advantage of the very nice pool.
