First of all, Merel and Susan are great hosts. Communication was timely and complete, leaving us no worries about our arrival and our stay. We met Merel upon arrival and she accommodated all of our needs and answered our questions. You won't find better hosts.
The location is very good - everything is easy to get to from here, although many of the shops in the 9 Streets district close early. It is a safe area night and day. The cafe next door has excellent coffee/espresso drinks and some breakfast items. There is a market 3 blocks away so we brought food into our room for breakfast and late dinners.
The place itself is great. It is modern with nice amenities such as free wi-fi and free minibar items. Most importantly, the room was clean. The bed is comfortable and the size of our suite (Reestraat) was very spacious. The living area faces the street, which is not very noisy at night. The shower and toilet in this suite are in the middle of the living area and the bedroom. (Note: The shower area is enclosed in glass so there is no privacy, and the main sink is inside the glass enclosure. There is also a small sink inside the toilet room)
I highly recommend staying here and I'd definitely stay here again. Five stars for Hotel IX are well-deserved.
The only downside was that we had two heavy pieces of luggage and there are no elevators. Reestraat Suite is at the top level (3 flights of narrow stairs). There are no street level rooms, but no problem for us. Totally worth the w

We are a family of four, who stayed three nights in two suites, both with street view which was absolutely perfect! The rooms are totally renovated and decorated simple and modern, yet very tasteful. Having the room refrigerator stocked with beverages, free of charge, was very convenient and much appreciated. The area is the best of Amsterdam; great stores, cafes, clean, safe, and within walking distance to all major attractions. Communicating with Susan beforehand in order to finalize booking was a great experience as well; sweet and accommodating. If we ever come back to Amsterdam, we will for sure stay here again.
This exceptional boutique hotel is the perfect spot to stay for a visit to Amsterdam! Located in the Nine Streets area surrounded by wonderful shops and great bars and restaurants and walking distance to the Anne Frank House and many other tourist attractions -fabulous location! Our suite - the Huidenstraat was large and airy, tastefully decorated and exceptionally well equipped with every amenity imaginable. Merel and Susan are delightful and wonderful hosts and if we could rate this higher we would - loved it!!!
What a fantastic little boutique hotel in the middle of the Nine Streets area of Amsterdam. The location was absolutely perfect - very close to tons of boutiques and neat stores, while within walking distance of the museums, the Red Light District, the Jordan, and city center. The owners are very accommodating and responsive. And the rooms are unique, large, and very comfortable. Highly recommended!!
Excellent, spacious room in historic building , very clean and comfortable.Minibar is for free and you can enjoy a good breakfast next door.
Well situated in the centre, but very quiet if you have a room at the back.
If you are looking for a boutique hotel in Amsterdam look no further. Great location, great rooms (actually suites), great owner/staff. The modern, clean design and execution in renovating an old building is classic Dutch preservation/restoration. This is not a B&B (no breakfast served), but there are a number of delightful coffee houses a few doors away, so each morning can be a new adventure. The stocked free minibar with a bottle of wine and a few cans of beer and soft drinks is just another delightful difference from a major chain hotel. Free Wifi is great, but was not totally reliable. We had a it of trouble with the coded entry, but that got worked out quickly and efficiently. This will definitely be our first hotel choice on any return to Amsterdam.
The most beautiful hotel room you have ever seen (Wolvenstraat Suite) in a really great location.
Check in was easy with the codes and the owners were around in the mornings if you need anything and recommended places to eat etc. Very friendly!
The mini bar was all included although there is so much to see in Amsterdam I don't actually think we had any of it.
Just loved it.
We had a great short stay in Hotel IX in December. The location was great and felt really safe for two girls travelling on their own! The Nine Streets area was ideal for us and there's no shortage of places to eat or drink near Hotel IX. The room was clean and spacious, not to mention very comfortable, with a fully stocked mini-bar. Hotel IX was a great base for our trip to Amsterdam and I can see myself staying here again without hesitation. Merel and Susan are clearly doing a great job!
We had a wonderful stay early January. We had 2 suites, one for us with our 7 year old daughter, and one for the grandparents. We have left the Netherlands quite some time ago, but staying here made us realise our country is actually not that bad!! What a great experience to stay in a hotel like this. It is more than a hotel (so spacious and wonderful amenities), with very personalised service. Location is amazing, as everywhere you want to go is within walking distance, and the 9straatjes is simply one of the best areas of Amsterdam to relax, eat, drink, shop and wander around. Thank you very much for having us, we will be back!!
Wow!! Hotel IX in Amsterdam is a traveler's dream! My daughter and I stayed in the Huidenstraat Suite for 3 nights back in November of 2014. Upon arrival, Susan met us at the door and welcomed us in like family. She was extremely generous with her time, helping us find THE BEST restaurants/shops/sites for us to enjoy. It was like having a local tour guide right at your finger tips. Susan is just lovely to talk to... and her recommendations... SPOT-ON! We enjoyed fabulous pancakes at Pancakes! Amsterdam (located conveniently in the nine streets), The VanHarte Cafe, which was right down the block (you HAVE to try their soups... AMAZING!).. And we wandered over to the Jordaan District one night for a pizza experience like no other at LaPerla. Their ingredients are flown in from the Naples area in Italy... AND TRUST ME... You will NOT be disappointed! It was like having a pizza in Italy! Susan also recommended sampling local cheeses from De Kaaskamer (also located in the 9 Streets), and once again... we were in HEAVEN. The cheeses and salamis were OUTSTANDING!
Now back to the room... The Huidenstraat Suite is located in the rear of the hotel on the first floor. The amenities in the room were first-rate. Free wi-fi, large flat-screen plasma TV, complimentary drinks in the mini-bar, lavish soaps and creams from Zenology, and slippers/robes for the duration of your stay. Susan and Merel were also gracious enough to leave us a bottle of wine when we checked into our room, along with a personalized note welcoming us to Amsterdam. JUST LOVELY! And the beds... soooo comfortable. Normally, I do not sleep well when I am away from home, but the pillows and down comforter were so plush, I slept like a queen. The shower in the room was also great... It was like a spa-experience... and towel warmers to boot!
As far as the location goes... You can't situate yourself any better than in the 9 streets. We walked from Amsterdam Central Train Station to Hotel IX, and it's only about a ten minute walk. And the trams are minutes away near Dam Square. All the museums/parks/sites can be accessed through the trams or if the weather is fine, then walking is your best bet!
As a frequent traveler, I cannot say enough wonderful things about Hotel IX. Everything was just perfect. Seriously... You'd be wasting your time staying anywhere else when you can have all the modern conveniences, location, hospitality and a great night stay right here at Hotel IX.
We can't wait to go back.. Thanks Meryl and Susan! We will be back!
Myself and my boyfriend (mid 20s) stayed in November and we couldn't have picked anywhere better great location felt so safe in this hotel (which is more like apartments really). Rooms where cleaned daily mini bar restocked for free which was a lovely surprise very friendly and helpful staff very private loved that it was key codes instead of keys so noting to lose very comfortable and romantic ☺️
