"Cute hotel, good price."
The hotel staff was wonderful. They helped us find something to eat and explained how to get around. The hotel room was pretty basic, but we did not come to Amsterdam to hang out in our room. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The beds were ok. Carpet was very stained, but otherwise clean (vacuumed). It was quiet and we were able to get a good night's […] sleep. The room did not not have any offensive smells. The hotel was within very close walking distance of the Van Gogh museum, tram, many other attractions, and a nice little grocery store. My favorite part was the smell of breakfast in the morning. We did not eat the breakfast, but it looked good. Their dining area faces a beautiful little courtyard. A very sweet little cat lives in the hotel so if you are allergic this may be a concern. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location near main attractions"
The hotel is ok given its category. Nevertheless requires basic maintenance of this very basic room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Now that I've had a chance to explore Amsterdam, and know how walkable this city is, I would not stay in the Owl Hotel again. I stayed there on a recommendation from a friend, depsite the fact that I had seen more affordable places online that looked nicer...so I accept responsibilty for my having chosen the place. The two biggest positives about the […] Owl are that the staff is very nice and helpful when needed, and the location is withing walking distance of the entire inner city for one who walks easily. The drawbacks for me were that the room was very tiny for the price, and it seems as if the owner must skimp a bit on things like wall hangings, etc. It wasn't as clean as I would have liked, the room was very warm due to the time of year and it was difficult to get good ventiilation even with the window opened. Also, during my 4 night stay, I only bothered to go down for the 'complimentary' breakfast the first morning and the last, because the quality was not that great. I feel that perhaps the Owl Hotel needs to be updated in its furnishings and food, especially for the prices that they charge. I did enjoy my stay in Amsterdam overall, as it's a gorgeous, very friendly city. I pland on returning, and next time I'll follow my own counsel and rent a little flat instead. "great hotel booked for visit to US Consulate."
Check-in was effortless and the staff on duty was so friendly and helpful. very good neighborhood and short walk to shopping distance, museums and metro services. Checked in with children and they were thoroughly pleased. hotel is as advertised.Genuine Expedia guest review
Cosy little place situated within walking distance of many popular tourist spots. Except the hotel charged 10 euros extra as tax, which wasn't mentioned anywhere else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed our stay at the Owl. Very convenient for the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum and the major shopping street PCH Straat. Major tram stop and 197 airport bus stop 5 minutes away. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Room adequate. Continental style breakfast perfect for what we wanted. Lounge area comfortable and included the hotel cat which […] was very cute ! "Affordable accommodation with a great location"
The hotel was everything I expected it to be for the rate we paid. Staff were friendly, service was efficient and the room was clean (albeit extremely small). Great hotel to explore Amsterdam from!

Recently stayed for 6 nights and was pleased with every aspect of this hotel. Well located for exploring Amsterdam. Just steps from Vondelpark. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was spotless. Breakfast was simple but a perfect way to fuel up for a day of walking. My room was small but that's how it is in Europe. Zero complaints.
"Great staff and perfect location"
11/17/14 mazenhosn Beirut, Lebanon
The hotel is so close to the center, few meters away from Marriott hotel and Hard Rock Cafe and amsterdam park... The staff were so helpful and provided good advise Breakfast was rich and prepared on time...from the hotel you walk few meters and you reach the station where the bus 197 (taking you to airport ) will stop...if you are interested in hop on hop off , it will stop few meters away from the hotel Internet connection was good but room was cold ( great they had a warm blanket) Price not cheap but I believe this is the case all over amsterdam
"Clean and comfortable"
The hotel is a converted Victorian era multi-story hotel. Rooms are modest but clean and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast room neat and clean and the staff very friendly. Price was modest, too, in a rather expensive city so we were pleased with the value for our money. Only recommendations would be to put stoppers on doors so you can't hear them bang when they close and include kettle in rooms to make tea in the morning...got to have that tea first thing.....
"Good Museum base"

The Owl hotel is in a good location, very close to the museums and a short walk from the city centre. There are however few restaurants nearby. It is in a quiet street. The staff are firendly and very helpful. The breakfast was pretty good for this grade of hotel. There is a small bar and outside terrace for the summer. The rooms are very small, especially when sharing with a friend, but our room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a bit basic, but it was clean and there was the bonus of a bath.
"Is the value/money appropriate ?"
11/05/14 Ivan M Teplice, Czech Republic
This hotel has for sure many positives - super location close to the city centre, quiet street, friendly and professional staff, cleanness, a nice summer terrace, good continental breakfast although in a bit cramped breakfast room. Cramped or constricted are unfortunately the words which jump into your mind whenever you enter the room nr. 21and especially its bathroom. There is indeed extremely little space in the bathroom. The bed was also very narrow ( 70 cm ? ) so the room was just good for sleeping there. So I have asked myself several times the above written question. But maybe it is normal in Amsterdam... I do not know.
"hotel in convenient location"
10/28/14 SuzyD61 Wincanton, United Kingdom
Friendly hotel in quiet location although just a few minutes walk from museum square etc. Our room was on the top floor and certainly an adequate size, very clean with a comfortable bed. Quiet at night which is what we like. Breakfast was a generous continental breakfast. We liked the terrace and small bar and lounge area - a great place to sit and take time out of the busy city or last thing at night. ( Free tea/coffee was available at all times). We found all staff very friendly and helpful. As our flight home was not until the evening the hotel was happy for us to leave our luggage there for the day and we were told we could help ourselves to tea/coffee before we left which was a nice touch. We would definitely be happy to stay again on a return visit to Amsterdam and I would recommend this hotel.
"Nice small hotel"
10/21/14 golfaten Helsinki, Finland
This hotel is a nice, small hotel and well located. The service in the front desk depends on the person working there. 3 of 4 were ok. We had two rooms (31 and 41) and both of them were very small, with small bathrooms. The area is pretty silent and also nice part of Amsterdam. We could come back, if we got bigger rooms. The hotel was full and breakfast room is not planned for a full hotel. Breakfast room used to be very crowded on both 2 mornings.

Great location hotel, 3 minutes walk from the famous "I'm Amsterdam signage". Hotel not too big and not noisy at all. Simple room, not too big, but very clean and warm. Friendly staff, I definitely would recommend this hotel
"Great first time but 2nd time invasion of ladybirds"
10/14/14 Paul K Liverpool, United Kingdom
We stayed at this hotel February 2012 and had an amazing front room which was large with separate bathroom and provided a good base for exploring Amsterdam, however we booked the following year and the room we were given was tiny with a sink in the room and a tiny shower enclosure, and on our first night there even though we had not left the window open my wife awoke me in the night to say she thought we had beg bugs as something was crawling on her but upon turning the light on the room was infested with ladybirds, the staff were very helpful came to the room sprayed around the windows (pesticide I presume) but upon complaining on checkout and asking for a discount as our room the previous year had been far superior ( and we had paid more this year) we were told all rooms were charged the same and no discount available! You cud get a good room or a bad one as we did our 2nd time but the management will not do anything for u if u do end up in a bad room! Be warned
"Perfect hotel for our stay"
10/11/14 Traveling_with_6-7 San Diego, California
Stayed in this hotel in June for our family vacation. Had 2 rooms - 1 double for us and 1 quad (2 twin beds and a bunk bed) for the 4 kids (teens). Great location - easy to get to from the airport (by bus) which saved us money, close to Leidseplein with LOTS of restaurants. This worked out well as we arrived the first night around 8:30 p.m. and after checking in walked a couple of blocks and had our choice of places to eat. We found the location to be perfect as the location was on a quiet residential street with apartments and a few other hotels, but only a couple of blocks from public transport, grocery and other stores, and restaurants as mentioned above. Had bought the breakfast as part of the room price and we all enjoyed the quality and variety. Tables inside and a few outside. Hotel staff was also very friendly! Overall, a nice hotel for the price.
