"Don't answer phone"
I tried several times over the course of two days to contact this hostel but they never answered the phone. I ended up having to book another place because we were traveling with more people than I had expected but I ultimately had to pay for the room there also.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good for the money."
More of a hostel than a hotel. The room was clean, cheap, and quiet. The service staff was courteous. And the location was great. A good find for the money!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location and very clean!!"
The room was very clean and the location is perfect!!! Right next to Kensington market and Chinatown!! Easy walking distance to just about anywhere! Room is small but it is ideal for budget travelers!! Girl that checked us in was very polite!!! No air conditioning but we cracked the window. Can be very loud in hallway but quiet hours are from 10 pm […] to 10 am. Refrigerator did not work. Overall we were very pleased! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Classic asian guest house."
Just a bunch of tiny plywood rooms cut out of an old house. Some had a toilet and shower (cheap plastic), but no sink. Some no toilet or shower. Comfortable enough. A very basic place right at chinatown - great location... Cheaper to show up than to book online... Bargain a bit! It's that kind of place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I had to book last-minute for TIFF and my regular hotels were sold out. Did I pay too much for the value? Yes, but that's par for the course during the festival. I paid extra for the double bed with private bathroom. Pros: the room is spartan but very clean. Location is really close to downtown, and close to Kensington Market which is great on the weekends. […] I'm a woman travelling alone and never felt unsafe. There is little to none soundproofing but all the guests were very respectful and I slept fine. Cons: No check-in desk. You call the number on the door when you arrive and wait for someone to get there, which is a pain in the ***. It is really spartan: it's a place to sleep and that's it. The private bathroom is really a sink, a toilet and a shower in your bedroom, so I don't recommend sharing the room with other people unless you don't mind having no privacy. I was there for a couple of days and the hallways developed a weird smell by day 3 so I can't vouch for the cleanliness of the shared bathroom? TL:DR It's cheap, room's fine Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Get what you pay for just!"
Get what you pay for. My room had no window. A door at the back that didn't lock so you could just walk out the back. I didn't have a bed, it was 3 mattresses on top of each other with top mattress being hard. There was a toilet in my room but was very cramped. No sink but. Location was fine short walk to public transport.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient but not comfortable"
It is located a perfect place in downtown Toronto. However, the hotel is certainly not well-furnished, nor cleaned regularly. It is suitable for short-term visitors and students.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the best, but not bad"
This is not much of a hotel, more of a room to sleep in. There is no desk in the rooms, and one of my sheets was stained. However the rest of the building was fairly clean, and the staff were helpful. The neighbourhood around the hotel was fantastic, Kensington Market is one of the coolest places in Toronto. A pretty cheap and convenient place to stay […] if you only plan on using your room to sleep and shower. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was OK, considering the price. Don't understand why they are not allowing your shoes inside. Does anybody needs a front desk. You won't get it here. Anyway the small girl was very nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value for the price!"
Based on previous reviews I was expecting no more than a hole, but luckily this wasn't the case. There was everything I needed in the room, including a private bathroom, refigerator and microwave, as well as air conditioning and free Wifi. The cleanliness of the room was not the best, but that didn't matter as long as I had my own privacy, as opposed […] to a dorm room in a hostel. The girl that welcomed me was really shy but really kind. The only issue is to get in the first time you arrive, since the door is locked and they don't give you the code in advance. You have to pick up a phone that's in front of the door and wait until they come to open the door. Once you're in they give you the code so you don't have to do that every time you go out. The surrounding neighborhood is creepy a bit, but you have to expect that in Chinatown! If I'm still on a tight budget next time I come to Toronto, I will definitely go back. "Highly priced but not cost effective"
The hotel had a better picture in the website than the actual. My room did not have a proper toilet and bath though it was claimed to have a toilet and bath. Microwave was provided but there was no power point close by to connect it, so could not use it. Stayed for two nights but the towel was not changed on the 2nd day. Room was too small and there […] was very little space to keep luggage and move around. Not recommended at all at this price. It should have been 50% cheaper as it did not provide or did not have any provision to buy breakfast as well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very clean, basic room. Excellent firm bed. Several stoves and refrigerators available. Lots of hot water. A basic room at a fair price for downtown Toronto. Close to everything downtown as well as public transportation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I arrived at the location. One look at it and I decided not to enter the building. t was run down and in a very sketchy area of town. The place did not look friendly. Despite having already paid for the room I choose to walk the streets all night rather than sty in a seedy residence. I do not recommend this "hotel" to anyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to down town"
We were a bit sceptical when we first saw the hotel. It doesn't look appealing and the entrance was dirty. Our room was small and we had to pay extra to get an own bathroom. But at least the room was clean. For a short stay it's a good choice, especially because of its location in down town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Would rate it a -10 if I could"
What stay? The "hotel" did not honour our reservation. It had a booking system glitch which caused our room to be already occupied when we arrived. There was no effort to find us alternate accommodation or to compensate us in some way. There was not a room available in Toronto that night. We ended up sleeping in the car.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"If you're desparate"
So, it was clean and air conditioned. End of good news. Noisy. Had to ask for towels. Distance from front of toilet to wall=7". Useless for sitting down. Very small room crowded with lots of useless furniture. Had to make the bed. Linens were old. Shower was ancient, but probably cleaner than it looked (I hope). "Great Location - Courtuous and honest Staff"
Location is great however Hotel amenities is bare minimum. Fine for short stay. I had a two nights reservation. I couldn't make it for the night and did inform hotel staff so I wouldn't loss my reservation. I did expect to pay for the two nights but was charged only one night stay. I had access to my own bathroom and shower but no towels. So my recommendation […] would be to offer service or advice customer to bring their own. Bed sheet had stains on it. There was no division between the room and the toilet. Even for $70 per night, did not seem worth the stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
OK, I know not to expect much from a $50 per night boarding room in Toronto. But urgh the place is awful; having got in to Toronto for one night at 1 am in the morning I had no choice but to stay there. Ratty room with torn curtains, a bathroom that was frankly unusable - the front of toilet seat was 3 inches from the bath room wall so you have to […] sit side ways. It was a good place to stay one night but not a place I would stay longer or go back to. "NEVER, NOT EVEN IF!"
This was the crappiest and the most FILTHY place I have ever been to! The walls were stained with filth, the air condition did not work, it was like an oven in that room, didn't help to open the window at all either. The beds are are hard as bricks, the bathrooms are NASTY and it smells, everywhere you go it smells like sweat, rotten food and filth. […] There was no toilet paper in the toilet. The manager smells like he hasn't showered in a month, he reeks! You should not pay to stay here, they should pay you to stay there. OH and for goodness sake, do not be late, you'll either be taken to another location because they are already fully booked (even if you made a reservation, there's no integrity at this place), or you won't have a place to stay at all! This place is completely awful. Make sure to bring a large tub of anti bacterial if you have to stay here. The only good thing about my stay is that there are several shops all around to keep me occupied.
I think I have misled what this place was. I thought I booked a regular hotel but in fact, it's more like an hostel with private rooms. No towels, no sink, no breakfast included... I wouldn't call the place a hotel. It's probably closer to a hostel. However, it was clean and within walking distance of the city center. "Unforgettable 3 nights"
08/22/14 lung_elisa Bucharest, Romania
Cannot forget the shocking moment when we entered the room. A toilet, a shower and a mattress - nothing to separate these three things since the room is about 6-8 sqm. Whenever we took a shower, the whole room turned instantly into a sauna and there was absolutely no possibility to open that window, which was stuck with a piece of wood. The pleasant part was that staying at this place created unforgettable memories for us due to all these things, and it was really not that bad in the end; it is in a very central area and it cannot really be called dirty. Just one advice: just bring your own sheets if you are going to sleep there.
"Poorly managed hotel at high price"
08/07/14 Angshurc1975 Chandigarh, Chandigarh, India
This hotel is located closed to "china town" of Toronto, near CN tower. The single room was so small that there was almost no space to walk after keeping the luggage. There was a microwave oven but no power socket nearby to connect that. Therefore could not use it. Hotel did not provide breakfast and also did not have any option to buy breakfast there or nearby. Stayed for two nights but towel, bed sheet was not changed on the 2nd day. Not worth CAD 67/night.

This is probably the worst "hotel" we have been on. It's noisy and it's definetely NOT clean. Our plan was to stay there for two nights but we couldn't stand it so we left after one night. The room was a bit dirty and one of the windows was being held open with a piece of wet wood and the window in the bathroom only existed half because there had to be room for the airconditioner. The rest of the window was being held close with a piece of wet cardboad with some sort of black moist on it. Also in the fridge there was some black moist spot. Just don't.
"Bizarre Bargain "
07/10/14 Dan P Buffalo, New York
This place turned out to be a really great stay. Comfortable beds and a great location walking distance from many attractions (China Town, Kensington Market, Yonge St, Rogers Center, etc.) and surrounded by TTC public transportation. We got off to a shaky start at this place. The initial entry is pretty confusing there are several pieces of electronic equipment (doorbell/intercom, dual security cameras, and a pig-tail corded telephone that emerges from below the front door) all with accompanying instructional labels (in English and Chinese characters) directing you to,"talk to us here." Advice: just keep ringing the doorbell until someone answers. Once you make it inside you must remove your shoes, and be prepared to haggle with the attendant. They initially told us that the room we had booked was already occupied, and that we would have to walk to a satellite location '5 minutes' away. DO NOT accept this outrageous proposition. After expressing discomfort, surprise, and intention to stay at another establishment if we were requires to go somewhere else, we were shown an available room (that appeared to be the same room we had seen pictured when originally booking online. Once you've worked out with them that you will be staying at the same address that you already made tour reservation at, don't be afraid to haggle for a lower price, they're willing to make a deal at this place. Advice: ask to see the room before payment. You can use some of the room's bizarre characteristics to command a lower price. For example, the toilet in our room was so close to the opposite wall that you'd have a hard time fitting a paperback copy of "Of Mice and Men" between the wall and the lip of the lip of the bowl; sitting sideways was the only way to make it work. Also ask for toilet paper. After ironing out the terms this place turned out to be a really great launch/crash pad for visiting to city. Perfect of you plan on being in your room primarily for sleeping.
"You'll slip right in to the groove of this fun, affordable hostel"
06/14/14 TheTabulator Toronto, Canada
Would have gone five stars, but my mandatory slippers didn't fit. But like that the owners have an in with the Prime Minister. Decor was fun and unique - who knew bank envelopes had so many uses? Towels as tablecloths? Revolutionary. And don't get me started on the bike lock toilet paper holder. As a contortionist, I like that their bathrooms are designed to fit my body type. Would return.
"good for short stays"
01/11/14 aviray Kolkata (Calcutta), India
I was in transit and checked in for a single night. I found the place pretty descent. But, for tourists who'd need to navigate in and out of the city, this place isn't centrally located. That said, the tariff was cheap, and the owner friendly, which doesn't leave much to complain about.
"If you desperately need a bed for one night"
09/28/13 Nina A Novo Mesto, Slovenia
My 2 friends and I needed a place to stay for the last 2 days of our trip and we went for the cheepest available - which was a mistake. Their check-in system is really weird: there is no staff in the hostel and you have to call them and wait for them. Then they drove us to another building where our room was (because they obviously have 3 different buildings around Toronto). We booked a room for 3 with a private bathroom and we got a dorm room with 5 beds with a "bathroom" - you couldn't close the door while sitting on the toilet because your legs were in the way. It wasn't exactly dirty, but since there is no staff it was not clean either. The location in the only ok thing - at least our building, don't know about the other two - we were in china town next to the Kensington market, which is practically in the centre. Avoid if possible, I wish we paid 3$ per night more and have a normal hostel.
"Holiday Inn Downtown"
07/28/13 NedBrit Brit
This is the 10th & worst hotel we've stayed in - travelling by hire car east from Calgary to Halifax. Don,t be taken in by the fact it has 'Downtown' in its name. Tthe room is poor & a bit smelly. Food is ridiculously expensive. Also the people are nothing like as friendly as we have found them elsewhere. Luckily, only staying 2 nights to see the CN Tower. Then off to Ganacoque which I hope will be as good as the rest of the Canadian towns & cities we've stayed at. Canada needs to do something about Toronto! It lets the country down.
"If you just want somewhere to lay your head, you could do worse!"
06/27/13 Antony802 Manchester, United Kingdom
Me and my friend spent one week in Canada in May 2013 and were looking for cheap accommodation, simply somewhere to lay our heads for the night. For £15 a night, you could certainly do a lot worse. The young lady who met us on arrival didn't speak particularly brilliant English, but was friendly and did try to make us feel welcome. Our room was in the loft at the front of the building, and although the headroom was slightly limited in some places, the room was clean and the 'en-suite' (basically the entrance to the room with a shower curtain pulled across), was good enough for our needs. The beds were firm but very comfortable and we both had very good, uninterrupted sleep. The hostel itself is relatively well located. Although it isn't right in the centre of the city, its location near an intersection of Dundas West and Spadina means travelling into the city isn't too difficult. Free wifi is advertised but in reality it isn't very reliable, although the hostel has a computer that is free to use, so the wifi isn't too much of an issue. Overall, the hostel is more than adequate if you are planning on spending most of your time exploring this amazing city, on a limited budget and just need a place to sleep.

avarage location, bathroom and room were horribly small, if you are above 170cm you may find it difficult to take a shower :D, disastrous staff, the lady told us that we can pay $5 more if we want a room with a bathroom and a window, the thing was that the bathroom in the room didn't have a door :D fun fun fun :D so we had a room downstairs, somewhere in the basement ;D more fun :D avoid, maybe try looking for sth better :D
