A beautiful suite. Convenient location by transit station. The garden would be beautiful in the summer. Staff very friendly.

"Nice room but closed reception"
A very nice hotel with beautiful rooms and nice atmosphere. However, when checking out we had to walk to the other hotel 3 blocks away although it said that the reception should have been open.

"Koselig hotell"
Hotellet fremstår som koselig og intimt. Hagen er absolutt behagelig og avslappende. Veldig hyggelig personal og kort vei til de fleste begivenheter som er verdt å få med seg. Her kommer vi tilbake på besøk!

"Fantastic oasis of space and calm"
04/26/16 AndriusNav Melbourne, Australia
Really impressed with this hotel. We had a room on the 3rd floor, facing the garden. It was huge, with 3 separate areas - kitchen (with basic cooking facilities), a lounge area, and bedroom. The bathroom was spacious as well, with lots of hot water. The room was very very quiet at night, and we slept well on very comfortable beds. The view onto the garden was wonderful. The WIFI was reliable, but not super-fast. Breakfasts were comprehensive, with lots of choice - the breads and pastries were awesome, and better than most French places we have stayed at! Service was very good. The garden is very lovely indeed, and if the weather is good, it is superb to relax in, or to enjoy a beautiful breakfast. There are numerous transport options very close by (2 different tube lines, and tram). Great coffee around the corner (30 metres away) at Oslo Coffee - it is good enough to make a Melbournian happy. Heaps of good restaurants within 10 minutes walk - Katz Orange, Lokal (brilliant well priced modern German with very good value wines), Pauly Saal (1 Michelin star), Reinstoff (2 stars), great (and very cheap) Syrian at Yarok at the other end of the scale. A few minutes walk from a wall memorial site, and close to many major sites. Highly recommended - nothing to fault here - location, service, value, great rooms - every box ticked. No negative points. Will definitely stay here on future trips. No lift to our 3rd floor room, but well worth the teensy effort!!

"Very nice small hotel in a perfect location"

Stayed four nights in the top floor apartment in the back, which was very quiet with a view to the wonderful little garden in the hotel backyard. There was no lift and the stairs were steep and narrow. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast rich and varied. Location was just perfect for visiting central Berlin, and also just a short bus+train ride from Tegel Airport.

"Excellent hotel, great location, lovely staff, awesome cat."

Couldn't really ask for anymore from this lovely little hotel in the centre of Berlin. 2 minute walk from a tube stop and absolutely stunning rooms. Go for the apartments on the top floor! Lovely little pet cat Oscar cheers you up when you get in from the cold and the friendly staff are more than happy to help you on your way in one of the most interesting cities in the world.

"Good, friendly and with a few improvements could be even better"

We took three rooms for three nights. Our rooms were in the garden which is a delightful spot - even in very cold weather. The rooms were good but a few comments: 1. There is a roof light in these ground floor rooms and these could not be covered so in summer sun would stream in. Lovely if you like that but would be better if there was a blind. 2. The rooms are labelled correctly as small doubles. Only just big enough for my wife and me! Fine for single usage. 3. Noise insulation. No noise from the street but I could hear my son walking next door. Then one morning the hotel decided to move their huge potted plants indoors at 7:30am! Not ideal. 4. Lovely resident cat. 5. Simple good honesty bar system. 6. Excellent breakfast. Full marks. 7. Staff all friendly and helpful. We have now used both of their hotels and would recommend them but next time I would pay more for the 'normal' double room in the main building.

"Beautiful hotel but poor service"

Beautiful early 20th century hotel in a great location. The garden is beautiful and the breakfast is completely worth it. The service however, was horrible. I asked for a room on a low floor, preferably in the back since it heard there was no elevator and street noise was tough. They gave me a room on the top floor over the street. When I asked to change, they said it wasn't possible. The hotel was not at all full. there were rooms in the garden that were empty the whole time I was there. I explained I was willing to pay more if the room was more expensive, but was told i could not. It was so loud in the room. the staff told me that it was a noisy street and there was nothing they could do. clearly, they could invest in soundproof windows, but no one felt the need. The hotel is not staffed after 11 pm. I wouldn't have stayed in an unstaffed hotel but didn't know that until I checked in. On the second night, the fire alarm went off and was going off for over 20 minutes before someone from their other hotel (three blocks away) came over. It took another 15 minutes before they figured out how to turn it off. the next day, the woman at the front desk told me it was not a major issue and was only going off for five minutes. she said her colleague told her so. I explained that I was there and so were other guests (standing in the lobby in the middle of the night waiting for info) and could attest that it was more than 30 minutes in total. The woman could not have been less concerned about what her guests went through. this was the approach through the whole weekend. no one seemed very interested or helpful at all. While the location is good and the hotel is beautiful, I would avoid this one. By the way -- the worst mattress I have ever slept on

"Back in time"

There were some major roadworks when I stayed there for one night on a business trip, so it was all a bit dusty. It's not particularly near to the city centre but there are plenty of trams close by. The area is being regenerated, I'd say - and, if so, this is very much at the start of it now. The reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area, definitely a plus point. I was in one of the wooden floored (no carpets) first floor rooms overlooking the roadworks with its own dawn chorus. The rooms have an "old master" touch - oversized art reproductions - and are fairly basic is design; the bed was firm but comfortable enough and the shower room quite adequate for purpose. There's no bar in the hotel, nor dinner, but breakfast was fairly comprehensive and had lots of options. It certainly did its job for a business trip but I don't think I'd stay if I was on holiday, lack of bar and evening meal if you don't want to go out.

"Spooky"

Far from the centre , spooky environment and perfect honeymoon venue for Alfred Hitchcock - except due to mega roadworks right in front of the hotel any decent ghost would find a more accessible location to haunt. On arrival in the morning the receptionist on duty could be described as unfriendly - but on return at night the other one was quite a darling. Good luck - hope you are welcomed by the last one.

"A relaxing base camp for Berlin exploration"
06/13/15 Haroski Kuopio, Finland
The hotel has two kinds of rooms, apartments facing the garden and some facing the street. We we're able to get a beautiful first floor apartment, the room was decorated in a old romantic fashion, and the room quality was pleasant, only problems was the lack of air conditioning. The inner garden was beautiful and the breakfast was one of the best I have eaten. However we couldn't eat the breakfast in the garden because the food attracted wasps, but we enjoyd our morning tea/coffee in the garden while planning our schedule in Berlin. The service was excellent and we recommend this hotel for our friends.

"Garden cabins delightful"
05/28/15 Mark W Canada
Arrived late March and I think was the only guest in the entire hotel. Was put in a guest cabin in the courtyard, which was superb for quiet and protection from wind and street noise. Breakfast was excellent, and is served in an attached lower dining room with lots of windows to the garden. Definitely take a cabin room. Don't be put off by street repairs on Invalidenstrasse in front of the hotel -- it only means the hotel is apt to be under-booked and a relaxing place to stay.
