Comfortable accommodation in a residential neighborhood - short walk to Bloor St night life, etc. Next door to metro station. Rooms are very simply and roughly furnished but have tv, microwave, refrigerator. Staff is friendly and helpful, but only on duty during the day. Try to get one of the rooms in the rear.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, good value"
Staff was very helpful. The room was neat and tidy and had everything I needed for a very restful night. And it had a most interesting picture. I'd stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Highly recommended with a few tiny negative points"
The room, overall facilities, location, decor and staff, where all exceptional and because of this I had a generally pleasurable experience. The only negative points are as follows: 1. The room was in the basement and this was absent from the description. It was within a reduced rate block and now I know why. Standard versus premium. 2. There was free […] and accessible Wi-Fi, microwave and a mini-fridge. Organic toiletries and snacks included but the coffee maker dripped all over and the Cable TV had only one station working (info-weather, news ticker, etc..). 3. Strong water pressure but tiny bathtub and water damage on ceiling in bathroom. Not horrible but.. 4. Lastly there was no common space besides patio which is good for summer, but not so good fall, winter, or spring. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and the nicest staff"
Not knowing much about Toronto we booked the annex guest house for 2nights because it looked convenient in location. The house has an Asian theme and the smell of insense is a welcome change from previous hotels. Please do not expect a chain hotel! The thing I loved about this hotel is the personnel touch from the lovely staff and their knowledge of […] the area, from local restaurants to tube stations for tourist attractions. Conveniently, only 1min from the local station and 15mins from the main shopping centre. The negatives, there's no kitchen so no breakfast , but there is tea/coffee/water in the room FOC and snack bars which you can help yourself to. And there is also no lift, but the staff were more then insistent on giving a helping hand. When I return to Toronto I will happily return to stay as they made my stay easier and more relaxing. "Clean room at great price in handy location"
Great clean room with ensuite, comfy bed, fridge and snacks included, right next to the metro entrance, easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The manager (Lori) was really helpful and friendly, no noise from other guests. Staff only on site during the day but contact provided in case of problems (not that I had any). Exactly what I needed […] for three nights at a great price! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great little Gem"

Great little hotel. Friendly staff, who know and love Toronto. Clean well appointed rooms. Unlimited snacks, many actually healthy. Location is great. Can easily walk to mass transit, or if you like can walk to many tourist areas. Can even walk to a ball game. The University is right at the door step, so you have the feel of being in a University town, not a big Megalopolis.
"Quiet and Cozy"

I spent a weekend here for a family wedding in December of 2014. The Inn is comfortable and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful advising me on how to navigate the subway ( which is right next door to the Inn ) and the rest of Toronto's fine public transportation system. The location is outstanding, within walking distance of Bloor Street where there are numerous shops, restaurants and points of interest. My room was comfortable and provided all that I required in terms of cleanliness, a comfortable bed, TV, free Wi-Fi, clock radio, microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot . The private bath afforded plenty of towels and ample hot water . As an added bonus, there were unlimited free snacks. I would highly recommend this Inn as an affordable comfortable haven in a dynamic city.

I have stayed at the AQH on a number of occasions. For the money, it is great value. The rooms are well appointed and offer something different than mainstay properties with the Indian motif, simple handmade furnishings and wall hangings, wood floors and copper pitted sinks..situated in the heart of the Annex next to a subway station and walking distance to the University of Toronto and the downtown core, it is in a great location. For those looking for value and something different in a very convenient central location, the AQH is a great choice. I would go back without hesitation.
"Terrible - lesson learned "

I stayed here in June for two days and realize now that's as long as I could handle this place now after spending nearly two weeks there. The room I was in was gorgeous and that is all. The rest, everything from a 4 inch mattress ( very uncomfortable) to dirty bathroom, oh and 'amenities for long term guests' (which turned out to be coin laundry and that is all.) Snacks included snack pack jello, which is probably one molecule away from being plastic. Coffee, probably the worst I've had yet. They keep the back door open day and night - inviting bugs, bums, and more bugs. I won't be back here anytime soon. Hotels for a few dollars extra make much more sense.
"Annex Quest House"

We needed a low price room for a few nights in Toronto. We didn't mind not having a plush super fancy room. Just wanted a clean warm decent room we could manage. The Annex Quest House fit the bill perfectly. It has the basics and no more. The service by the manager is excellent and she was very pleasant. We stayed in the best room on the top floor so I can't say anything about other rooms. Two CPAPs needed outlets near the bed and they were present since we had long cords. The manager would have helped with electrical connections if we needed it. Bathroom was clean but small. The shower has a slanted ceiling so 5'10" is about all the height it can accommodate. Space is tight in the bathroom. But, it was very clean and tidy. Plenty of towels, washcloths, and toilet paper. Nice TV w/cable. This is what you want if your more concerned about saving money than fancy rooms. Definitely has a pleasant atmosphere, felt safe, and enjoyed the stay. Free coffee and good quality snacks for guests.
"Great Place To Stay - Clean, Safe and Dry"

Stayed at Annex House on 83 Spadina Road for the first time for Sept 7th to 12th, 2014. Great place to stay and located next door to the Bloor-Spadina Station, which means 14 minutes to Union Station downtown. Very clean and very little rug or carpeting. All furnishing either wood or easily laundered or washed cloth, unlike those big hotels continuing to use those infrequently washed bedspreads. Would say the Vasta structure has a lot to do with it. It is also located to Honest Ed's (a definite tourist destin you must go to before it closes up) and at least 100 restarants and pubs easily within a 5 minute walk. Will I stay there again? Most definitely!. Best "Clean, Safe, Dry Accommodation Deal In Downtown Toronto!" - James C, Pincher Creek AB
"Friendly staff, good location"
09/19/14 cokebaby Halifax, Canada
This is more of an inn than a hotel offering plenty of charm in a converted Annex style house. While this makes the layout a bit odd and cramped and the rooms not that large, it has been completely renovated and the rooms are clean and modern and nicely decorated. Free wifi, bottled water, mini-fridge, and snacks. All of the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The subway entrance is literally right next door and getting around is very convenient. There are endless options of places to find great food in easy walking distance. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, and the 4 stars is based on the type of place that it is, but I enjoyed the neighborhood, the charm, and the reception. I would go back again.
"Another nice experience"

We've visited them again in a long time. Nicely maintained, same friendly atmosphere, clean and tidy. Not much option of rooms as all of us came for same events I guess, but overall a great experience at much lower cost than hotels round the corner. Have recommended to our friends and came together this time.

Poor initial first impression was difficult to erase. Small unswept and dirty front entryway leads to a narrow hallway around which office could be found. Stairway up to the third floor was narrow and hot, half empty bag of toilet paper rolls remained on the landing for our entire four day stay. ThIrd/top floor room had window that would only partially open and never let enough air in to cool off the room , even as the evenings cooled down, requiring constant running of noisy room air conditioner (even while we were out during the day). The noise of the ac did block the noisy traffic, as the house is on a noisy heavily travelled street. Room was furnished with shabby and worn 'garage sale' type furniture, although the bed was comfortable and the bathroom shower decent. Room service was non-existent, and i had to ask repeatedly for them to empty the garbage and give us some clean towels. It apparently had 'slipped the mind' of the staff to pick up our room. Returning at 3:00 on the following day, they 'hadn't gotten to it yet". Office staff seemed quite confused, initially reserving two rooms for us , although i had only reserved one, and then not seeing yet another email when i responded that we wanted one room only. Price quoted on the room also increased twenty dollars, although they later denied ever giving me a lower quote. Office staff was also curt , except for one woman who helped us out with printing something. ALthough check in was to be at 3:00, the room was not ready at 2:45 and we were told to go around the corner to the coffee shop. Felt quite depressing returning to this hotel and i would say it definitely detracted from our stay in Toronto. The place definitely needs some 'spiffing up" and better management.
"Simple and comfortable"

It was great to have the mini snack bar especially with water: the drink of life. The view of the sky and trees from my window was my therapy every morning. The walls are thin though so I was disturbed by noises. I stayed here for 2 and 1/2 months so that can become annoying. The decor is interesting but I think a bit too much for the space. I would recommend it though because it's simple and comfortable enough.
