"Enjoy sea view & Queens Necklace from Sea Green Hotel"
08/28/14 paradip sahibabad
Those who love and recognize Mumbai by its "Queens Necklace" or "Marine Drive" has no better option to see it except by staying at this hotel Sea Green South. At Rs 3,250/- single/ Rs 4,150/- plus taxes for double. Nothing comes on Marine Drive except Sea Green South or Sea Green hotel. Both these hotels are adjoining, very close to Church Gate, Fort, Colaba etc. Restaurants in vicinity. Top of all full view of Sea and world renowned QUEENS NECKLACE all the time if you stay in Sea-view room or walk downstairs. The hotel, however, has no restaurants but you will find Menus in rooms of nearby restaurants who deliver any thing within 12/15 minutes. More, you can just order a kettle of tea having 2 cups of tea and small packet of biscuit for Rs 50/- which is a very reasonable price,. Prices of hotels in Mumbai are fantastically high. The hotel Sea Green South was built over 50 years ago and has old staff but sincere, old window ACs, old sanitary, but clean. You will really enjoy the its location.
"Rustic , british era hotel with friendly staff and excellent location and views"

I have been stayed at Sea Green south several times for business and pleasure and i can only recommend it to anyone who is not looking for a 5 star luxury experience. If you are looking for friendly and caring staff, great location, value for money and nice and clean rooms, then this is THE hotel in the marine drive area. Rooms : The rooms are large and spacious with high ceiling heights, which is reminiscent of the British style architecture. The beds are clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are a tad below par. The showers and the fittings are not the best working and sometimes have the corrosion due to the salty sea breeze ( as the hotel is right on the seaside). One can overlook this fact , by saying it is how it is, and one would find such a thing charming...if for instance one were to visit Venice...but then again this is something which really needs improvement. Staff and service : The staff of the hotel is extremely helpful and hospitable. They go all out to give you good service.Whether it is carrying your bag , or cleaning your room, or bring in rooms service, service is always quick and with a smile. It should be noted that the staff are not allowed to use the elevators unless accompanied by hotel guest. So if you order tea and have to wait for couple of minutes more, give it a thought that the waiter is climbing 4-5 floors to get you the same. The hotel does NOT provide a buffet breakfast or restaurant, but it makes it up with honest recommendations and good service. They serve tea, coffee, toast, omlete , cornflakes for breakfast. If you want anything else, they are happy to bring it to your room from the dozens of nearby restuarants, both indian and continental. They neither add thier premium on this nor crib about getting outside food . So, in a way its a flexibility to the guest. As a side recommendation : I would suggest visiting the famous GAYLORD cafe just 100m from the hotel. It serves authentic Continental breakfast and lots of bakery/patisserie items ( awesome croissants, rolls, pastries, artisan breads , etc). Location : The location of the hotel is its biggest USP, both from point of view of scenic view and also from logistics. The hotel is located a quick 5 min walk from Churchgate local train station and a bunch of great restaurants and cafe's in this posh south bombay locale. And you can find the best sites of south mumbai within 1-2KM radius of the hotel. It is located almost at the centre of Marine drive so it is also very convenient for moving in either directions. The view from the hotel, in the sea facing rooms is terrific. The higher the floor the better the view. All the sea facing rooms have a balcony, for absorbing the amazing view. It is also close to the main train station i.e. Mumbai CST ( or popularly known as VT). Overall, this is a good hotel at this price in a near-perfect location and giving the basic amenities, great view and homely, old world, heritage feeling. I dont know about others, but i always feel "at home" when i stay here. Definitely recommended
A old heritage like hotel facing the sea on the marine drive. Located to the corner of road that connects marine lines to churchgate. The rooms are big and clean though the furniture is old. Stay only if you get a sea facing room (they have a balcony facing the sea).
"Basic ,clean and economical"

The rooms are large and clean, with basic amenities. The restrooms are spic and span. The best part is the view right opposite the Arabian sea.In terms of location it is close to all the tourist spots, chowpaty, colaba, taj, gateway of india. Located on marine drive , it is close to many upscale restaurants. All in all it is value for money with simple plain vanilla amenities.
"Value for money- excellent location, clean neat rooms with olden decor"

We were referred here by our friends, but we're little skeptical after reading some negative reviews on Tripadvisor. Our impressions are - You will not get a spacious room at this price and this location (bang on Marine drive, just behind Brabourne and overlooking the sea). The rooms are air conditioned with a window AC ( little noisy compared to chic hotels) have sufficient old style wooden furniture ( a cupboard, three chairs, a table, Teepoy, 2 small bedside stools, a small TV and a refrigerator). The room service provides basic snacks like omelette, toast, tea- coffee. The toilets are clean but decor is like a Government guest house - but very clean. Service is good, but not suave English speaking staff. If you are comfortable with this settings then the stay will be memorable. You have a small balcony which overlooks marine drive and the sea- something like this is a luxury in Mumbai. Located 200 meters from Churchgate, you can walk to all locations in Fort, shop on streets. The place is safe even in late nights as Marine drive will have people walking even at 2 am in the morning or as early as 5 am. Rooms are spacious and three of us had ample personal space unlike new age hotels. It has good eating joints around - Pizza by the bay is 50 Mtrs, Gaylord- 100 , Ambassador hotel - 70 Mtrs, Rustoms Ice cream -50 mtrs. I would definitely stay here again if I need to be in south Mumbai on a family visit.
"Best Hotel for family vacation"

It is located near to Girgaon Chaupatty and Wankhede Stadium. If you are travelling to down town, this hotel is best option on reasonable tarrif. Rooms are very spacious but bulit old style and need rennovation. Staff members are very polite from front desk to room service. There is no restaurent in the hotel and served only continental breakfast in the room. But if you are lucky and get sea view room it gives you best of experience of Mumbai. You can enjoy roaming around Marine drive till late night.
"Rundown 1* Property - Stay Away"

When I looked at the hotel from outside, I did not find it attractive. But the location was absolutely amazing - facing the majestic Arabian Sea. In the same vicinity, there are two hotels with same name, this one differs as it has South added to its name. The pictures posted on internet are fantastic. The good part ends here. When you walk in the hotel, you are met with manual entry and guest registration with same old Guest Register. I asked for sea facing room and it was gladly given to me. When you walk up the stairs and taken through dingy corridors, you get another feeling. You find basic facilities in the hotel with old furniture and not so comfortable beds. There is no room service. I was told that I will have to order food from outside. I was handed over some menu cards. I realised that I have made a mistake. I called up Reception and shockingly I was told that the hotel is one star. On the reviews, this hotel has more than 3 stars. Stay only if you are looking for a hostel accommodation at not so basic price. I had to look for alternatives as this Hotel does not have any facility worth the name. Don't be deceived with location, the hotel has nothing to offer. My advice : Stay away or else you will regret it.

This hotel is right on Marine drive and a bit dearer on the price as compared to the rooms but ideally a great place to put up if you're visiting Mumbai. You pay about USD 65 inclusive of taxes for a night but this does not include breakfast. You'll probably get 2 single beds on the room rather than a big bed if you're alone. Its location is great because most tourist attractions are close by especially the Colaba district, it is 15 to 20 minute walk from there. A taxi fare wouldn't be more than 30 INR. Overall my stay was pleasant, the guys at the reception were very helpful as well as the maintenance staff as they would go out of their way to ensure they carry all your luggage, shopping bags when you enter the hotel. I will definitely visit again if I was to go to Mumbai alone.
"Great location basic hotel"
01/28/14 MyThoughtsSydney Sydney
We stayed here for New Year's Eve so it was noisy but I do not blame the hotel for this. The rooms are very very basic and the beds uncomfortable. Breakfast was ok and well priced. It is expensive for what you get. The location is very good.

Marine Drive is the only place to stay when arriving in the culture shock that Mumbai will be for most (especially after a long flight). Yes it's dated, not terribly cheap, has the noisiest AC in India, and there is no restaurant (go to Stadium around the corner for excellent cheap eats, Chowpatty a stroll away, or a city full of restaurants is also available). But the location and the view can't be beaten.
