"Terrific small hotel in a great location"
This is a wonderful boutique hotel. The staff (and we met 5 different people during our stay) was very, very helpful. One of our days was a Monday when all the museums are closed, and they helped us find other things to do. The location was also excellent. Easy to walk to many wonderful restaurants and the bike/walking path along the river. We would […] definitely stay here on a return trip. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Boutique (10 rooms) in the middle of Old Town"
Pleasant hotel, great staff, esp. Ulrich and Paul. No elevator but they graciously not only stored our bags as we were early, but carried them upstairs and put them in our rooms, after telling us where to go to make good use of our brief amount of time in Montreal. We also brought back food from our dinner which they kept refrigerated overnight and […] heated up for us the next day for lunch. When we asked him about this, Ulrich said "This is your home while you are here, and you should enjoy your vacation!" The room was modest but clean and adequate with TV, WiFi, comfortable bed, jacuzzi tub/shower, a/c, window to open. What else do we need? Our friends had to leave at 5:45 AM, and they made sure they had coffee available, even tho' breakfast (included) didn't start 'til 6:30. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Awesome hotel in fabulous location!"
We just returned from our vacation in Montreal and Quebec City; while in Montreal we stayed at Hotel Epik in Old Montreal and couldn't have been happier! First of all, Montreal is a terrific city that has everything you could want. Historic Old Montreal is incredibly quaint and filled with fabulous restaurants (try the Garde Manger - literally around […] the corner from the Hotel - you won't be disappointed), while the downtown area is a thriving modern city. The hotel's location is perfect - right on Rue Saint Paul, with about a 5 minute walk to Place Jacques Cartier, so it's near everything but just on the edge of the busiest part so there's no problem with street noise while your trying to sleep. The hotel itself is fresh and chic while retaining it's old world charm. The decor expertly blends the timeless stone walls with glass and wood to give a look that's bright and open. Our room was exactly as pictured, with 2 comfortable beds, beautiful stone walls, and a large glass shower. The breakfast was delicious and included Frittata, fresh cheeses and fruits and the most amazing crescents! The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful without being a bit intrusive; they were very knowledgeable about the area and really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Kudos to Paul and the entire staff for a fabulous experience and a first rate hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Very nice room.. Paul, the manger was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The location in Vieux Montreal is noisy at night with people in the street, but the would be the case at any of the hotels in that area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location. Great staff."
Epik is a great little hotel. If you are on a cruise to Montreal you don't even need a taxi to get from the dock to the hotel because it is only a 5 minute walk. The staff was courteous and helpful and made our trip to Montreal very enjoyable. Even though our room was off the main lobby it was quiet and its llocation made iit very convenient.Genuine Expedia guest review
The only drawbacks were parking off site and small breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hôtel Épik Montréal Thank you for your review. We just wanted to make sure that all our guests understand that the parking lot is actually on site. You even have direct access to your car from our courtyard. Also, our breakfast buffet offers over 10 hot and cold dishes to choose from including our famous pure butter croissant baked fresh every day.

the hotel is small and very cute. the rooms are tastefully done and it has the request stone walls you expect from the old port of montreal. there is a/c in the room which was great. the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. would definitely recommend. it is an easy walk to the old port, the restaurants and the museum. the hotel has changed names […] though, which made for a small bit of confusion when we arrived. the front desk staff were super friendly. Response by Hôtel Épik Montréal Thanks for your lovely review. I wanted to apologize for the confusion upon arrival. The name change to Epik Hotel Montreal is underway but many pieces have to fall in place in order to make the change as smooth as possible.
They couldn't have been more accommodating. There was a nice breakfast every morning and a small parking lot of our car. The restaurant offers small and large plates. I recommend the grilled octopus! "Great location in old Montreal"
We had an easy walk from the cruise ship pier to the hotel. The hotel is also in easy walking distance to Notre dame Cathedral and all sites in old town. The hop-on/hop-off tour bus stop is nearby and worth several trips through town. Bike rentals are two blocks away.Genuine Expedia guest review

Great from the time I arrived until the time I left. The complimentary breakfast was great, as was the service. The hotel is very cool and great for couples. "Can't wait to come back."
This was my first time here but definitely not my last, everything about this place was great. The staff were helpful and informative, the restaurant had great food but a small beer selection, parking rate is very reasonable considering they valet it for you and I liked the neighborhood very much, there is lots of things within walking distance. What […] I liked most was the rainfall shower, hardwood floors throughout and overall look, feel and comfort of the room, with its exposed wood beams and old brick walls. This place already had a really high review and is definitely worthy of it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"This goes into my All Time top 10!"
I can't remember the last time I had such a great and memorable hotel stay. Where the hotel is not just a place where you sleep while you tour a destination, but is huge part of your destination experience. From the moment we arrived at this historic Rue St. Paul address, you just felt like you were in a quaint French Village. But step inside to this […] modern design with the live music playing, candles lit, so hip and stylish. Greeted by our wonderful host Paul, was so kind and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and had the most fabulous food thanks to our Chef Frank, and Nicolas our delightful server (cudos to Alex & Herman working hard as well). The guest room was large and beautifully styled, the mix of modern furnishings with antique architecture was well done. And OMG the modern shower, with the rain shower setting was amazing. My only critique was to have instructions of how to run it, there was a bit of trial and error to get it right. The location can't be beat, you're right in the heart of it, and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else in most cities in North America, with historic buildings and cobblestone streets, clubs & restaurants, art galleries, trendy boutiques all in walking distance. And yet so affordable. I can't recommend this enough. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The rooms were beautiful, the service from every staff member was excellent and the location was perfect. My only complaint was the noise of construction and the parking lot behind the hotel in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you are looking for an 'authentic' stay at Montreal, this is the place! Beautifully renovated, butstil shows the stone walls to give that 'Old Montreal' look. Lots of history here. Walking distance to everything, and the staff here were great! Super friendly. I would definitely recommend this B&B! I had mentioned when I arrived that I was Celiac […] to a staff memeber in passing, and the next morning there was gluten-free bread and other products for me in the morning. So thoughtful! "Our best hotel on our trip!!!"
We stayed at 9 different hotels on our family vacation in 2 weeks and Hotel Epik Montreal was the best place we stayed at. The pictures I had for the hotel room were exactly like the room. "Great stay and price for amazing location!"
We really enjoyed our stay at Epik (formerly Les Passants) The only critique I had was the floors felt gritty (I think this was just from some of the debris that comes off the old stone walls - not a big deal) but more so, some of the other guests were very loud late at night. Talking in full volume voices and slamming doors at 2am. The hotel is not […] sound proof at all. Other than that, we LOVED our stay and would recommend it. The price point for the location was really really good, and honestly, Rue St. Paul is THEE best street in Old Montreal. You can't beat the atmosphere! Staff was very kind also! "Not finished with renos"
We loved our room and the service was great. However, the bathroom which is fantastic, still had grouting that had not been cleaned up yet. Not so nice on bare feet. There was no fridge which would be nice but that is alright too. Also no air conditioning so was very warm at night. The window would not open although it appeared that it normally would. […] There was a fireplace but no way to turn it on. Finally, stairs getting into lobby and narrow stairs to get up to the rooms, but they were very good about carrying our bags. Onsite valet service was great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Old European feel in a beautiful city"
As this was my first trip to Old Montreal I didnt know what to expect. As an avid traveller for business I am used to modern hotels with plenty of room and although this hotel had neither of these I enjoyed my stay completely. The rooms were quaint and offered all these things needed for a pleasant stay, a comfortable bed, small desk to work at and […] a chair to relax in. The 3 piece modernized bathroom offered everything a modern hotel would. I think a view of the street in front of the hotel would have been grand but my window offered a view of the local church whose steeple rang each day at 4:00 pm. I will be returning to Old Montreal and would recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for incredible scenery at an affordable price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

J'ai vraiment eu un coup de cœur pour cet hôtel. Demandez la chambre 102, vous ne serez pas déçu. "Beautifully renovated Hotel in Vieux Montreal"
01/16/15 hoytytoyt New York City, New York
I was so pleased to find the Hotel Epik just as charming and comfortable as had been reviewed. The location is right in the midst of all the old town shops and attractions. The staff is so helpful and friendly. Wonderful restaurants are plenty just a walk away; We had a fantastic dinner at CLUB CHASSE ET PECHE..which was just a few blocks walk (once we found it!) The room was rustic but immaculate, such comfortable beds. The bathroom was big and modern with the rain shower and "party lights", the breakfast complete. It was interesting though, to find a pulsing noisy disco operating on the top floor saturday night?? In all, would love to return to beautiful, friendly Montreal and stay there again!
"Just what we wanted!"

I chose this hotel by chance on the internet for a weekend in Montreal and it was perfect. It was in Vieux Montreal and we could walk to the subway, the St Lawrence River and to numerous restaurants. There was a shop next door selling basic provisions. It was a small hotel but the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. They were even able to provide a connection for our ipad as we had forgotten our adaptor. They were able to make recommendations for places to visit, eat and about public transport. There was lots to see in the area but as it was awful winter weather getting about was challenging. However it was always lovely to get back to the hotel where it was warm and cosy. Our room was beautifully furnished with a clean bathroom and great shower not to mention the enormous very comfy bed. It was cleaned regularly and was spotless. Breakfast was served from horrid o'clock (which was handy for the day we left for the airport) until at least 10 am and was served by a friendly and chatty young man. There was always something hot and plenty of other choices. Perfect!

"Epik...just keeps getting better"

My sister and I stayed for a week. It was our first meeting with the new management and the newly named property, but a few years earlier we had stayed at the Auberge des Passants and were concerned the property may have lost its charm in the process. It is evident the there is more metal and glass than before, but only where renovations needed to have been made. The stone work remains throughout. The two big windows in our room (201) open onto rue Ste. Paul. Much as this is in the heart of Old Montreal, "noise" for us meant the pleasant clip clop of horse and buggy going along the cobblestone street below. The neighborhood oozes culture: there is in-house live music, and gorgeous galleries, restaurants, and artisan shops all around, and all within walking distance. We loved the fresh juices, breads and croissants -breakfasts are included in the room rate - and I especially enjoyed my morning lattés. The bilingual staff are outstanding: friendly, patient with my efforts to use my rusty French, and absolutely knowledgable about the in-house menu as well as the properties in the area. P.S.- I had a birthday during our stay, and Paul (the manager) surprised me with a personalized card and patisserie from a nearby shop. It was an uninvited and thoroughly appreciated gesture..!
"A lovely, charming, memorable stay!"

I recommend this charming facility without hesitation! Location in Old Montreal is ideal, and they have taken care to renovate this (very) old building without losing its charm. We loved the look of the stone walls and the large room (King size bed). The look is a lovely mixture of old and new and it was an extremely pleasant, and comfortable stay. I do, however, wish the lighting in the bathroom was better, and the faucets themselves need an instruction manual - it has never taken me so long to figure out how to work a shower/tap! It is a small hotel - only about a dozen rooms - but manages to pull off being both quaint, and elegant. We did not drive there so I can't comment on the parking situation, but our walk from the Metro did not take long - maybe 10 minutes or so? The surrounding area is a pretty as Old Montreal can be with many sites to see within walking distance. I was there with a business group and we also had dinner there - the food was not as good, in my opinion, as the atmosphere and rooms, however. While there was nothing wrong with it, it didn't overwhelm me. Perhaps it was my menu choice. Service was pleasant, however. I've stayed at 2 other hotels in Old Montreal, both nearby (the Hotel Intercontinental on St. Antoine and the Hotel St. Paul on McGill) and I do think I prefer this latest stay at the Epik best.
12/26/14 Chere604 Fredericksburg, Texas
I booked based on its old-fashioned quaintness and was a bit worried about the modern renovations and considered canceling, but the TA reviews kept getting ever better, so I kept my reservation. So happy I did! The small hotel is still very quaint, but with cool, modern touches. We were in room 103 which has a king bed, dresser, desk, closet, electric fireplace and large bathroom. The room is gorgeous!!! All the quaintness remains, cozy room, wooden beams, fabric on windows, but then you add in the electric fireplace -which can be used with or without heat and has an adjustable flame - and the magical shower.... Yes, the shower is fantastic!! It's illuminated by different colors and rains down from the ceiling. We both decided we need this shower in our lives and are trying to figure out how to remodel the bathrooms at home. Service was very friendly, we saw several people working the desk and all were helpful. Reviews for the restaurant are amazing and I'm so so sad it was closed while we were there (Christmas Eve/Christmas). Oh well, next time. My small complaints: floors are thinnish, we heard our upstairs neighbors a lot the first night, pillows are plentiful, but small and flat. If you prefer a pillow with any substance or plushness I suggest taking one with you. And, this is sort of silly, but we both wanted an additional trash can instead of only one in the bathroom.

What a find! Epik Hotel Boutique in the heart of old Montreal is the only place to stay. This extraordinary little hotel’s history dates back centuries and each room has been beautifully renovated and decorated with the main feature being the original thick stonework walls. The beds are extremely comfortable and the well-rested morning brings with it a delicious breakfast and great coffee. Without a doubt though Epik’s main highlight is the staff. Warm, welcoming, friendly and knowledge. Thank you Paul and team, we will be back very, very soon.

We stayed for a night at the Epik hotel in Montréal Old Port and we were charmed. And old building with history that was renovated to today's tastes. The bed was comfortable and the room wasn't too noisy. Keeping in mind that it was a Saturday night on St-Paul street and it is close to Christmas so there is a lot of Christmas parties... The bathroom had a standing shower only which had a rain shower head with led lights that changed color, water pressure included! A bathtub for the very cold days will be fairly missed by those who do enjoy them unfortunately. Also I think that a bathrobe would be a nice addition considering the price and level of quality of the hotel. We had a breakfast included which was okay but there was no service. The hotel clerk which I forgot the name and am very sorry, was very sweet and let us have a visit of the big suite which is absolutely beautiful! Worth eying! The hotel is in the heart of the old city so walking distance are very small which can be appreciated int he cold days of winter. So all an all, my stay was delightful and would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a different experience of the old Montreal.

"In love with Montreal....thanks to Epik!"
11/09/14 Betts22 Albuquerque, New Mexico
We stayed at the Epik Hotel for two days prior to leaving on a cruise. We were so appreciative of the local information given by Paul, Ulrich and Mary! Great room, great breakfasts, great neighborhoods to explore. The Rue Saint-Paul offers so many shops, restaurants, beautiful churches.....too many to name all of them. We explored them all and found so many friendly people wherever we went! The other great perk was being able to just "tote" our luggage to the pier where our ship awaited us. Loved Montreal and we will be back!
