"Terrific small hotel in a great location"
This is a wonderful boutique hotel. The staff (and we met 5 different people during our stay) was very, very helpful. One of our days was a Monday when all the museums are closed, and they helped us find other things to do. The location was also excellent. Easy to walk to many wonderful restaurants and the bike/walking path along the river. We would […] definitely stay here on a return trip. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Awesome hotel in fabulous location!"
We just returned from our vacation in Montreal and Quebec City; while in Montreal we stayed at Hotel Epik in Old Montreal and couldn't have been happier! First of all, Montreal is a terrific city that has everything you could want. Historic Old Montreal is incredibly quaint and filled with fabulous restaurants (try the Garde Manger - literally around […] the corner from the Hotel - you won't be disappointed), while the downtown area is a thriving modern city. The hotel's location is perfect - right on Rue Saint Paul, with about a 5 minute walk to Place Jacques Cartier, so it's near everything but just on the edge of the busiest part so there's no problem with street noise while your trying to sleep. The hotel itself is fresh and chic while retaining it's old world charm. The decor expertly blends the timeless stone walls with glass and wood to give a look that's bright and open. Our room was exactly as pictured, with 2 comfortable beds, beautiful stone walls, and a large glass shower. The breakfast was delicious and included Frittata, fresh cheeses and fruits and the most amazing crescents! The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful without being a bit intrusive; they were very knowledgeable about the area and really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Kudos to Paul and the entire staff for a fabulous experience and a first rate hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I would definitely return"
Very nice room.. Paul, the manger was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The location in Vieux Montreal is noisy at night with people in the street, but the would be the case at any of the hotels in that area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location. Great staff."
Epik is a great little hotel. If you are on a cruise to Montreal you don't even need a taxi to get from the dock to the hotel because it is only a 5 minute walk. The staff was courteous and helpful and made our trip to Montreal very enjoyable. Even though our room was off the main lobby it was quiet and its llocation made iit very convenient.Genuine Expedia guest review
The only drawbacks were parking off site and small breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hôtel Épik Montréal Thank you for your review. We just wanted to make sure that all our guests understand that the parking lot is actually on site. You even have direct access to your car from our courtyard. Also, our breakfast buffet offers over 10 hot and cold dishes to choose from including our famous pure butter croissant baked fresh every day.
"quiet in the center of the city"
the hotel is small and very cute. the rooms are tastefully done and it has the request stone walls you expect from the old port of montreal. there is a/c in the room which was great. the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. would definitely recommend. it is an easy walk to the old port, the restaurants and the museum. the hotel has changed names […] though, which made for a small bit of confusion when we arrived. the front desk staff were super friendly. Response by Hôtel Épik Montréal Thanks for your lovely review. I wanted to apologize for the confusion upon arrival. The name change to Epik Hotel Montreal is underway but many pieces have to fall in place in order to make the change as smooth as possible.
They couldn't have been more accommodating. There was a nice breakfast every morning and a small parking lot of our car. The restaurant offers small and large plates. I recommend the grilled octopus! The staff helped us every step of the way and made all our reservations for us. They are putting in an elevator in the near future. The whole area is quite […] charming and wonderful. "Great location in old Montreal"
We had an easy walk from the cruise ship pier to the hotel. The hotel is also in easy walking distance to Notre dame Cathedral and all sites in old town. The hop-on/hop-off tour bus stop is nearby and worth several trips through town. Bike rentals are two blocks away.Genuine Expedia guest review
The concierge learned my name and was very helpful. He gave me some great recommendations and cracked some good jokes too. It was a nice touch that made for a great stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"I'll be back."
Great from the time I arrived until the time I left. The complimentary breakfast was great, as was the service. The hotel is very cool and great for couples. The restaurants within walking distance are very good and the scenery is top notch. Pray for good weather and you're all set!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Can't wait to come back."
This was my first time here but definitely not my last, everything about this place was great. The staff were helpful and informative, the restaurant had great food but a small beer selection, parking rate is very reasonable considering they valet it for you and I liked the neighborhood very much, there is lots of things within walking distance. What […] I liked most was the rainfall shower, hardwood floors throughout and overall look, feel and comfort of the room, with its exposed wood beams and old brick walls. This place already had a really high review and is definitely worthy of it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"This goes into my All Time top 10!"
I can't remember the last time I had such a great and memorable hotel stay. Where the hotel is not just a place where you sleep while you tour a destination, but is huge part of your destination experience. From the moment we arrived at this historic Rue St. Paul address, you just felt like you were in a quaint French Village. But step inside to this […] modern design with the live music playing, candles lit, so hip and stylish. Greeted by our wonderful host Paul, was so kind and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and had the most fabulous food thanks to our Chef Frank, and Nicolas our delightful server (cudos to Alex & Herman working hard as well). The guest room was large and beautifully styled, the mix of modern furnishings with antique architecture was well done. And OMG the modern shower, with the rain shower setting was amazing. My only critique was to have instructions of how to run it, there was a bit of trial and error to get it right. The location can't be beat, you're right in the heart of it, and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else in most cities in North America, with historic buildings and cobblestone streets, clubs & restaurants, art galleries, trendy boutiques all in walking distance. And yet so affordable. I can't recommend this enough. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Well located...charming boutique hotel. Staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. Room was quite small; this historic building, transformed into a hotel is nothing special other than the location. Breakfast service was adequate.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms were beautiful, the service from every staff member was excellent and the location was perfect. My only complaint was the noise of construction and the parking lot behind the hotel in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you are looking for an 'authentic' stay at Montreal, this is the place! Beautifully renovated, butstil shows the stone walls to give that 'Old Montreal' look. Lots of history here. Walking distance to everything, and the staff here were great! Super friendly. I would definitely recommend this B&B! I had mentioned when I arrived that I was Celiac […] to a staff memeber in passing, and the next morning there was gluten-free bread and other products for me in the morning. So thoughtful! Awesome hotel!! The Epik is epic! :) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Our best hotel on our trip!!!"
We stayed at 9 different hotels on our family vacation in 2 weeks and Hotel Epik Montreal was the best place we stayed at. The pictures I had for the hotel room were exactly like the room. We loved the old world charm of the place. View from our hotel was beautiful and the hotel manager and staff went over and above to make our stay great. "Great stay and price for amazing location!"
We really enjoyed our stay at Epik (formerly Les Passants) The only critique I had was the floors felt gritty (I think this was just from some of the debris that comes off the old stone walls - not a big deal) but more so, some of the other guests were very loud late at night. Talking in full volume voices and slamming doors at 2am. The hotel is not […] sound proof at all. Other than that, we LOVED our stay and would recommend it. The price point for the location was really really good, and honestly, Rue St. Paul is THEE best street in Old Montreal. You can't beat the atmosphere! Staff was very kind also! "Not finished with renos"
We loved our room and the service was great. However, the bathroom which is fantastic, still had grouting that had not been cleaned up yet. Not so nice on bare feet. There was no fridge which would be nice but that is alright too. Also no air conditioning so was very warm at night. The window would not open although it appeared that it normally would. […] There was a fireplace but no way to turn it on. Finally, stairs getting into lobby and narrow stairs to get up to the rooms, but they were very good about carrying our bags. Onsite valet service was great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hôtel Épik Montréal Thank you for sharing your experience. We do apologize that your stay was less than ideal. I wish you had reached out to our helpful staff as the air conditioning, window and fireplace are all fully functional. It would have been a pleasure to assist you in using them. Also, the newly renovated bathroom will get the final touches it deserves for your next visit. Thanks again and best wishes!
"Old European feel in a beautiful city"
As this was my first trip to Old Montreal I didnt know what to expect. As an avid traveller for business I am used to modern hotels with plenty of room and although this hotel had neither of these I enjoyed my stay completely. The rooms were quaint and offered all these things needed for a pleasant stay, a comfortable bed, small desk to work at and […] a chair to relax in. The 3 piece modernized bathroom offered everything a modern hotel would. I think a view of the street in front of the hotel would have been grand but my window offered a view of the local church whose steeple rang each day at 4:00 pm. I will be returning to Old Montreal and would recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for incredible scenery at an affordable price.

"Absolute quality and most excellent service …"
12/11/14 Keryn A New Hampshire
What a find! Epik Hotel Boutique in the heart of old Montreal is the only place to stay. This extraordinary little hotel’s history dates back centuries and each room has been beautifully renovated and decorated with the main feature being the original thick stonework walls. The beds are extremely comfortable and the well-rested morning brings with it a delicious breakfast and great coffee. Without a doubt though Epik’s main highlight is the staff. Warm, welcoming, friendly and knowledge. Thank you Paul and team, we will be back very, very soon.

We stayed for a night at the Epik hotel in Montréal Old Port and we were charmed. And old building with history that was renovated to today's tastes. The bed was comfortable and the room wasn't too noisy. Keeping in mind that it was a Saturday night on St-Paul street and it is close to Christmas so there is a lot of Christmas parties... The bathroom had a standing shower only which had a rain shower head with led lights that changed color, water pressure included! A bathtub for the very cold days will be fairly missed by those who do enjoy them unfortunately. Also I think that a bathrobe would be a nice addition considering the price and level of quality of the hotel. We had a breakfast included which was okay but there was no service. The hotel clerk which I forgot the name and am very sorry, was very sweet and let us have a visit of the big suite which is absolutely beautiful! Worth eying! The hotel is in the heart of the old city so walking distance are very small which can be appreciated int he cold days of winter. So all an all, my stay was delightful and would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a different experience of the old Montreal.
"Great boutique b&b in old town"
11/16/14 Emmagg Nova Scotia
Totally upgraded b&b located 3 mins from Notre Dame. Nine rooms, no elevator, staff carry up luggage, 24 hr service. Freasly baked croissants aroma every morning. Very large rooms with modern br. No bathtubs. Penthouse is incredible...$2g's per day. Staff simply A plus. Can't go wrong staying here.
"In love with Montreal....thanks to Epik!"
11/09/14 Betts22 Albuquerque, New Mexico
We stayed at the Epik Hotel for two days prior to leaving on a cruise. We were so appreciative of the local information given by Paul, Ulrich and Mary! Great room, great breakfasts, great neighborhoods to explore. The Rue Saint-Paul offers so many shops, restaurants, beautiful churches.....too many to name all of them. We explored them all and found so many friendly people wherever we went! The other great perk was being able to just "tote" our luggage to the pier where our ship awaited us. Loved Montreal and we will be back!
"Great Service, Location, Quality, and Value"

We stayed at Epik Hotel for a long weekend for our first time in Montreal and were delighted with the experience. Paul, the manager, was welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about the sights and restaurants in the city. He quickly ascertained our tastes and made great restaurant recommendations and reservations for us. Our room was spacious, clean, with a great view of the street. Breakfast we very good, with plenty to get us through to a late lunch. The location was ideal for travelling through Old Montreal and within easy walking distance of both the airport bus (747) and the Metro (Place De Armes) We will recommend Epik to anyone going to Montreal and will stay there again ourselves.

This hotel features some of the friendliest staff I've ever encountered in a hotel. They never hesitated to bend over backwards to make our trip as enjoyable as possible. We went to Montreal to see a hockey game, and were running close to puck drop. The girl behind the counter (forgive me, I'm bad with names) immediately offered to call us a taxi while we dropped our things in the room in order to get us there on time. From helpful advice to excellent service, the staff at this hotel are top notch. As for the room itself, I was blown away. A wonderful blend of oldschool stone and modern chic, this hotel is worth every penny. Very comfortable beds and a view of Rue St. Paul that makes you feel like you're in old world Europe instead of North America. The shower had lights that rotate colours! I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. 10/10, would stay again in a heart beat.

We lucked out with our choice of a quaint hotel in old Montreal. From start to end, the experience was outstanding. Staff were very attentive and went the extra mile to meet our needs as we were celebrating an important milestone with our mother. The location was perfect. The rooms were very well designed, spacious, super clean and comfortable. And, the tasty breakfast was included in price. If you appreciate quality and service, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Paul and Ulrich for making our stay a most memorable one. See you again! Carole and family

Enjoyed a wonderful evening with friends. Service was a little slow, but courteous ,and even though the waiter made a little mistake (forgot to order my dish) he remedied the situation immediately. Mel the guitarist made us feel as though we were home, while he serenaded us and other patrons.....nice touch!! The octopus is a must try!! WILL DEFINITELY RETURN!! Good luck to the new owners and staff
"Best of the old and new"

We were recommended to stay at this hotel by friends but since they stayed at the hotel it has changed hands and has a new name. Epic is in a perfect location in the Old Town area of Montreal. I have to say that the new owners are doing a great job and we were made to feel very welcome. Our bags were immediately carried upstairs for us and the owner showed us our lovely room with it's great shower of which he was very proud. Our friends who we were with were all staying in different local hotels but we seemed to always gather in the sitting area in our hotel. They all agreed that they loved the décor with the mixture of old and new. The old beams and the brickwork give the place a very cottagey warm feeling. We also enjoyed dinner one evening and found their food to be excellent so I can really recommend that also. There was also a very excellent accompaniment from the in house guitarist whose name is Mel Amato. [He is also very handsome!] The breakfast in the morning was perfect with choices of cereal, yoghourt, rolls, croissants and pates, and eggs are cooked for you on the spot. The coffee was good and also HOT. And last but not least the bed was huge and very comfortable. We had the front room with the king size bed. The room is also large, with beams and brickwork incorporated in to the walls and ceilings. It was very charming and there is plenty of space to move around and to not be tripping over your suitcases. I also liked the drawers in the bathroom where I could keep all my face creams etc without them being knocked of the counter top. There is also a Keurig coffee machine in the room which we never needed to use, but it's nice to have. We really loved our stay at Epic and will definitely stay here again if we return to Montreal soon.

It was our first trip to Montreal and the team there were so friendly and helpful. The rooms are a great blend of modern design with heritage features of the building still retained. Fantastic value for money. Definitely will return here on our next trip to Montreal.
