"Well done, Hotel Chavanel"
Excellent choice for a boutique hotel. Great staff. Everyone is very friendly. We felt comfortable from the moment we arrived. Pleasantly surprised to see the room is not as small as I'd expected after reading about descriptions of other travelers' Parisian hotel rooms. The property is nicely decorated with a contemporary flair. Open the large window […] and feel like you are watching a scene from a movie. Close the window and draw the curtain and it's hard to remember you're in the middle of a city--care was taken with the soundproofing glass chosen. Mattress is nice and firm. Closet allows for space to store luggage. I will tell family and friends this is where they have to stay when they visit Paris. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Problems of boutique hotel"
It's a very nice cute hotel very close to metro, opera house n' two big depart stores. We picked it because of its convenient location n' beautiful lace theme. We enjoyed it but one of the problems with boutique hotel is they always have one person like a manger taking care of all the guests, so not very attentive... The main problem we were unhappy […] with Chavanel was when we were waiting for the private car the hotel ordered for us to catch our flight. The driver was late but the receptionist acted slow. He didn't call the driver right away but just kept reading or checking something until 10 mins later he then started calling but the driver didn't pick up. The time was tight yet we didn't feel the receptionist was helping. We ended up getting a taxi in a hectic situation. We didn't feel the receptionist was sorry. We understood it wasn't his fault but the hotel should be responsible. So we learned - who would really take the responsibility in this situation if we missed the flight? No one would compensate our flight tickets, not the hotel nor the driver. So better not to put this on anyone's hand next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We really recommend it for people who are looking for the great location which is the center of the city. Nearby is the Metro station, the Galleries Lafayette, and 10 minute walking to the famous Champs-Elysees Avenue.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Beautifully designed contemporary hotel"
Would highly recommend Hotel Chavanel, was our first time in Paris and it completely lived up to expectation. Ultra cool design mixed with personal boutique hotel service, room was bright and immaculately presented and the staff couldn't do enough. Got given a free upgrade without asking and attention to detail was exceptional for a 4 star hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
We had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel. Nice staff, new and comfortable room. Very lovely and central location.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Dejligt hotel centralt beliggenhed"
Genuine Expedia guest review
"Gem near the Opera"

we stayed here through one of those discount hotel websites's express deals. Still managed to get a great room, since sometimes when you go through a discount site a hotel has different levels of rooms for that. It seemed we got a standard room which was very modern and well decorated. Tight compared to American standards although completely normal by Parisian hotel standards. The front desk was very helpful with directions and getting us a bucket of ice for no charge. It was nice, and we really liked it. Also it's close to the Opera so easy to get to the airport shuttle, and close to Gallerie Lafayette if you like shopping and food.
"wicked location, gorgeous room"
01/15/15 gigish1488 Christchurch, New Zealand
This Hotel was just down the road from the Madeline which was spectacular in the day and at night it was emotional to see, the room we had was lovely, small but perfectly set out to maximize the space. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the breakfast was a great start to the day, we had this both in our room and in their dinning room and both were excellent. We found it very easy to navigate our way around paris from this hotel location and there was an atm and also a supermarket very handy too. Only one unfortunate thing, the lift is tiny and four of us got stuck in it for longer then I would wish on anyone ( probably only a few mins but felt like a lifetime ) so if your like me and instantly panicked with no where to go. .......take the stairs. I would personally recommend this Hotel Chavanel to anyone visiting Paris, It's modern, clean and really homely after a big day doing shops and sites.
"Chic hotel but terrible management"
10/25/14 calitripCa ca
The location is great and given our taste for modern/chic decor, this hotel seemed like a great fit. But we had two terrible experiences during our short stay of three nights. First - Upon check in, we were placed in a tiny room...tinier than we've ever experienced before in Paris at this price point. But, hey, that's Paris, that could happen. The problem was that the toilet was in a separate tiny "room" - smaller than an airplane lavatory. But to use the sink, you had to step out into the bedroom, close the toilet door behind you, and then enter a separate adjacent door to the bigger bathroom with the sink and shower. Plus, in an already small bedroom, you have three separate doors - entrance door, toilet door, bath door. Again, okay, fine. It's bad design, but that happens. So I called front desk to ask if we could be moved to a different room because I want the toilet and the sink to be in the same room. The guy proceeds to tell me that this setup is what French people PREFER...that the toilet should be in a different room than the sink. I've traveled all over Europe, including three trips to Paris, and that's just false. I didn't make a fuss at his obvious lie but politely persisted, and the next day we were indeed moved to a new room with one bathroom. So, all well and good, right? Nope. The next day, in the middle of the night, while we were fast asleep in our dark room...I suddenly heard someone insert a key card into our room door and the front desk guy walks right in. I sat up in bed and screamed, not knowing who was the intruder. He backed out quickly shouting sorry. My husband immediately called the front desk and the guy apologized saying he came in to get bottled water from the fridge, thinking the room was empty. Completely unacceptable. I would've still let it go and not posted this review, if they had made a genuine effort to apologize for scaring the heck out of us. Nope. No profuse apologies when we walked by the front desk in the morning, nor a small gesture of chocolate, flower, free drink etc. to apologize - nothing. Again, it's not that I need their freebies or profuse apologies, but it's just common courtesy to your customer. So, there you have it. I really wanted to love this hotel, and I do think the decor is very nice. And if you've seen my other reviews on TA, I try to post only positive reviews. But this was just unacceptable customer service.
"Be careful of the lift"
10/20/14 Ewan M Perth, Western Australia, Australia
This hotel is well located but the rooms are small. The lift states that it is for four people but don't believe it. It is a squeeze, but we had four people in the lift with no luggage. It went up to the floors but would not open the doors. It got stuffy very quickly and stressed two claustrophobic passengers.
"3 nights stay in Chavanel"

I was in Paris for 3 days of exhibition, the lady in reception is very helpful and ready to give you all guides needed. over ally hotel was good and in very good location. breakfast room was small but had enough for one person, warm dishes were rare ,like scrambled eggs...only a boiler for eggs. overall y very clean rooms and nicely decorated ,newly decorated and good. the rooms are small, lifts are small too,but overally rooms are very up t mode and has whatever you really need .do not forget ask for rooms not to be given in street side as nights are noisy.or ask for higher floors
"Smal but friendly"

We stated here for a few nights - welcome was warm, rooms decorated a la Jackson Pollock but not over the top. Our room was small but had all that was needed including a comforab le settee. Bathroom - shower minute but manageable. Breakfast room also small but buffet acceptable. Very central.
"Nice little hotel"
08/21/14 Manu R Buenos Aires, Argentina
Nice, modern hotel very well located. Staff is friendly and helpfull. We asked for a shuttle to the airport and the service provided was cheap and efficient. Wi fi was great. One of the best locations in Paris, next to the main attractions and shops. Rooms were small but comfortable. Elevator was very small, and usually took a lot of time to wait for it. I didn´t have breakfast because it was cheaper to have it outside.
"Nice little hotel, good location"
This hotel was well located for the shops such as Au Printemps and Galleries Lafayette. It was quite small but recently renovated. We took a top floor suite which was a good size and comfortable with a well appointed bathroom. One minor gripe: there was a sofa bed in the room so we thought it was a bit unnecessary, given the room price, to charge an extra €120 for the extra bed.
"Modern hotel with great location."

The Chavanel is nicely appointed and although the rooms are small, they are comfortable. Breakfast at 20 euros a head is not cheap but the range of food is good and the coffee freshly brewed for each customer. The room was reasonably quiet despite facing the busy rue Tronchet. The separate toilet and bathroom is a slightly clumsy arrangement but overall this was a good place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in easy walking distance. We will certainly think about staying there on another Paris visit.

We enjoyed our stay at hotel Chavanel. The staff was very helpful, nice and accommodating. They always welcomed us with a smile and happily helped us with direction and transportation. The rooms are, not surprisingly for Paris Hotel, small but very affectively arranged so that you won't feel too crowded. The design of the room is beautiful and peaceful. It is also very clean, which is a big plus for me. The location is perfect, very close to gallery Lafayette and my favorite, Citaium. It is two steps away from Madeleine metro station and 1 minute walk from Havre Caumartin metro station. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops around.
