"Central Location....great for business travellers"
Good location (up and coming area, somewhat dismal in parts but safe) - close to dining, major roads and very clean hotel - definitely 'no frills' but that is what ALT is all about and that's ok. Would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice and friendly staffs"
Staffs were extremely helpful and nice. Every touristic attraction is within walking distance, but the surrounding neighborhood seems a bit sketchy (although there's nobody) to roam around at night...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"very nice, modern hotel"
very nice, modern, new hotel. efficient room layouts. perfect for a weekend getaway to montreal. nice up and coming neighborhood.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was in great condition. We were looking for a nice place with possibly free or cheap parking around as we were driving . The hotel was great. About a 10 minute walk to old town/ touristy areas which we did not mind at all. And we found free street parking right across the street for the weekend. Don't think we would have found a better deal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"super nice boutique rooms"
great rooms and very friendly staff - would come again, no doubtGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great stay, hotel is new and modern. A bit far away from from attractions, but had no problem finding free street parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
help was mean, pushed us aside and they were very rude.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Very Nice Experience"
I'm occasionally asked to recommend a hotel in Montreal. Since I live in the city, I haven't stayed at any, until now. Our home is without heat and water for about a week, so, attracted by the low introductory rate, I booked us into this new property. The Griffintown area is a huge swath of real estate extending from Old Montreal to the Atwater Market. […] It is being extensively redeveloped with condos replacing crumbling factories and vacant warehouses. In a couple of years, I can imagine the area will be quite vibrant, but for the next little while, expect plenty of dump trucks, heavy equipment, and a lack of community feeling. That said, the hotel has all the conveniences and attention to detail that should make one's stay a very pleasant experience. The furnishings are very modern, the room is a bit small but extremely comfortable, and the staff is outstanding! As a bonus, free street parking can still be found close to the property. The location, once you get over the constant construction in the area, is perfect for tourists, just minutes from Old Montreal, the Lachine Canal, and a short walk to downtown. I already made a reservation at the hotel for someone visiting the city in July, and have zero hesitation in recommending the Alt Montreal Griffintown. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great - Location - Area still developing"
First time staying in ALT hotels. Stayed in Brossard and in Griffintown. I like the ALT hotel concept - nice rooms, comfortable rooms - hip retro look. Griffintown is great because it is in the middle of downtown and Old Montreal.... however it looks like Griffingtown is up and coming area - with a lot of abandoned buildings, or brand new construction.. […] But that is minor. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Old Montreal & Exceptional Service"
The room was nice and cosy and clean. The staff made sure we had clean towels every day, while the reception was warm and their willingness to help with Montreal whereabouts was refreshing. We needed to know where the closest sports bar was for Wimbledon finals and they not only found us a couple of place but printed out the directions to another restaurant […] we would be visiting that night as well. The warm reception made all the difference but the hotel itself was modern, clean and went beyond expectations. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, a little off the beaten track"
Hotel is new, clean and comfortable with basic amenities. Staff is great, always friendly. Although downtown, it is a bit out of the way from the main downtown sites and shopping, and it's in an up and coming industrial area that is being regentrified into condos, cafés, and urban shops. Still walkable though (to St Catherines Street or Old Port Montreal […] in about 20 min for example). Would stay there again for sure. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very modern, clean hotel, loved it!"
We loved our stay at the Alt. It was modern, clean, trendy and we loved the decor. We're also into cycling and it was close to the biking paths so we were on the paths within 15 seconds. It was also close to Old Montreal (about a 10-15 min walk) and close to Saint Catherines St for shopping. We would definitely stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hip Up and Comer"
This was my first time staying at Hotel ALT. The room was very clean and even though the offering was just basics, it made me realize how much I seldom use in-room amenities (like the mini-bar).The hotel staff were all very kind and helpful with minor requests. The only short-coming is the location. Griffintown is still growing and developing, so there […] is not much a stone's throw from the hotel. It's about an 8-10 minute walk either north (to Griffintown) or east to Old Montreal for places to eat and shop. There is a West Elm across the street for any travelers looking for home goods. I'm confident that once Griffintown is complete and there's more stores/services, this will be the perfect weekend getaway. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Awesome! Very noisy neighbours until the wee hours, but not the hotel's fault (I didn't bother calling down with a complaint). Hotel staff were wonderful, there's a Starbucks in the building, and this is in a new, up and coming neighbourhood. Trendy, beautiful rooms and super comfy beds.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was the best room I have stayed in for some time: clean, modern, the most comfortable hotel bed ever, great bathroom. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I will be staying here again in the future.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"New and Clean"
The hotel was brand-new and in excellent condition. The decor and room itself were very nice. I would likely stay here again, a short walk to downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice and clean hotel. Quiet location for the weekend during the week maybe not the area is under construction. Close to the old port about a 20min walk and the Lachine canal. Need to us transportation for most activities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Simply chic and adorable"

The staff was beyond friendly as soon as our cab pulled up at the front. From offering various sports bars to frequent for the purposes of watching Wimbledon finals to printing out directions to restaurants we planned to visit. The affordability does not do justice to the quality of service which is given. The cleanliness, organization and simply warm yet modern feel was next to none. Clean towels everyday and those beds were of the utmost comfort and the tv had great channels to browse through before sleep. Close to Old Montreal and a 15 minute walk to Saint Catherines. Their croissants are also super flaky and tasty. Great service, price and very nice design! Will be coming back to this same hotel.

"Welcoming & comfortable new hotel"

The Alt is a new hotel in the downtown area of Montreal. I had to book a number of rooms for a group of people travelling to attend an event in Montreal and from my very first phone-call to make room enquiries right up to the point at which we checked out, the staff could not have been any more helpful. They were extremely professional, courteous & welcoming during our stay. The rooms are of a reasonable size, the beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are well appointed with excellent showers. The room décor has a minimalistic, but urban chic feel and has clever use of storage space. Coffee/tea makers are now in all rooms and all rooms also have free Wi-Fi. Being a new hotel, it makes full use of the technology available to it and the Wi-Fi is the most reliable and fastest that I have experienced in a hotel. There is a Starbucks and a very nice bistro restaurant with outside street tables attached to the hotel. The area could do with a few more cafes/restaurants, but there is an enormous amount of construction work going on in this area, mostly apartment blocks, so this is clearly an upcoming area. There is also a very pleasant open balcony area on the 7th floor giving great views of the city. The Old Port area is only 10 mins walking distance & you then have a very pleasant walk along the waterfront which takes you to the Old Town area a further 10 mins on. It is possible we shall be returning to Montreal for a similar event next Spring and if we do, I would have no hesitation in booking the Alt hotel again for our group. R Goldsmith
"Convenient and comfortable"

A brand new, modern hotel with comfortable rooms, conveniently located close to downtown Montreal and Old Montreal. You can walk in either direction. Helpful staff. Could use a cafe in the area that serves breakfast although Starbucks is right there. Rates are very reasonable and affordable. Would stay here the next time for sure.
"Very Nice New Hotel"

We stayed at the Alt for three nights. The staff is lovely and very accommodating! Also, the rooms are brand new and have an urban chic feel to them! Lighting and furniture are very cool and the beds are simply heavenly...The restaurant next door has great service and food and they will do "take away" if you want to bring it up to your room. The ONLY thing I did not like was that there were no luggage carts available so it took several times up and down to unload our car. But if you are travelling lightly - it doesn't really matter. The rest of the experience truly outweighed that little matter! Also, the location is a bit removed from the touristy sights but cabs are plentiful and not really all that expensive.

Stayed at ATL Griffintown during GP weekend. Arrived and checked in with no issues. Room was clean and well appointed. No wasted space. Few things to point out: 1) beds and pillows were extremely comfortable 2) in room technology was very simple and worked how it should 3) room was extremely quite, no outside noise or noise from the hallway 4) can get coffee in the hotel lobby or at the Starbucks attached to the lobby 5) tons to do within a 10-15 minute walk, just do your research There is nothing overwhelming about this hotel, but in a good way. ALT Griffintown offered us everything we were expecting over what many would consider the busiest weekend in Montreal each year. Will be booking again for GP 2015.
"Very nice! "

I was in Montreal with my mom to celebrate her birthday & we loved the ALT! The location is fabulous, within walking distance to museums & the market. We liked that it was an area in transition. One night we took a walk down the street to discover a park on the grounds of a demolished church which made for great exploring. walking distance to downtown as well. Very comfortable room and as we both work in the technology field we were extremely pleased to have a wide variety of tech portals in the room & wicked quick access to free wifi. The room was comfy, simple, light & airy. It needed a coffee maker though. Hope to visit again!!
"Trendy Hotel - Just blocks away from downtown"
06/21/14 Rick T Ottawa, Canada
I was in Montreal for business and my regular hotels were fully booked. I stumbled upon the Alt Hotel. It was close to where I wanted to be (6 blocks to downtown and 8 blocks to old Montreal) and the price was right (much cheaper than other downtown hotels) so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. It's a new hotel (opened in March 2014) and has almost everything I need when I travel for business. I've read comments that the rooms are on the small side but mine was similar in size to other hotels. The room was stylish with a modern decor. The bed was on the soft side but very comfortable. It was clean and quiet. PROS: New, Clean, Quiet, Starbucks coffee shop on site, Resto/bar next door, snacks available for sale in the lobby, plenty of parking. CONS: A little far from the downtown area (but just a 15-20 min walk), no coffee maker in the room. I've added the Alt to my list of hotels to use when visiting Montreal for work or play. Definitely worth staying there and the price is probably one of the best deals you'll get in Montreal.
"Modern, simple and clean"

Hotel is modern with simple clean design. The front desk is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, modern & comfortable. The area has construction going on but you cant hear noise when you are inside the hotel. I think its a great value for your money. Great city views from the rooms.
"Modern hotel in up and coming area."

We spent 2 nights in Montreal at ALT and enjoyed our stay. The staff, especially Marie Pier, were so helpful and always very friendly. The hotel is still in the process of renovation, but that did not affect our stay. If you are looking for a pool or free breakfast, this is not the place. However, there are fabulous restaurants within walking distance. My family would definitely go back!
