"great location in shinjuku"
Ideal location if you are in Shinjuku. Near many shops and short walk to the subway line. About 15-20min walk to Shinjuku Station. Rooms are tiny however, recommend upgrading to rooms above 13floor if you can swing it. Rooftop bar is great place to relax after a long day. Great views of city.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hip urban hotel"
We loved the location of the Granbell Shinjuku, less than two blocks from a metro station and a short walk to the JR Shinjuku station. Our Mature room was very big by Tokyo standards, and the design was sleek and modern. The shower was HUGE, and the separate soaking tub was nice after a long day sightseeing. The rooftop bar was also a nice spot for […] a drink. The restaurant had a very strong breakfast service, both for Japanese and western palettes, but the dinner service was a serious let down (I.e., they should just not bother). The neighborhood was a bit sketchy, given the density of "love hotels" in the area, but that's all of Shinjuku, so not a real negative. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel and staff were spectacular and these comments should not reflect this hotel by all means. The only issue is with the area and is completely out of the hotels control. The africans in the area are insanely intrusive and are to be avoided at all costs. They want nothing but to scam you and were extremely pushy about it, going so far as to actually […] physically grabbing me at one point. Even the Japanese men in the same business were not nearly as intrusive or bothersome and could be easily ignored. The area would do well to take care of this problem. Of course this area isn't dangerous by any means, it's Tokyo, but the africans in the area went way too far, way too many times.... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to subway station"
It is a nice and clean hotel. Close to subway station. Took us a while to find it. It would be better if the hotel website provides better walking direction.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A fairly new hotel about ten minutes walk from Shinjuku JR station. I booked the superior double room and it is small as expected. The only complaint is that the shade is not good enough to block the sunlight and I woke up before 7am due to the light.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Modern, relaxed, awesome room"
We stayed on a Club Level floor, which means fantastic views of the city. The room was great - comfortable couch, very clean, and stylish. Although there are many 'rest' hotels nearby, the hotel is in the heart of the Shinjuku neighborhood. There were great restaurants nearby (sushi, Korean barbeque, Indian food) of which we availed ourselves. Golden […] Gai, the Ni-Chome, and other must-see drinking areas were a short walk away, and we had cliche drinks at the Park Hyatt that was a 1500 Yen cab ride away. I enthusiastically recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I had a great time staying here. This truly is four star luxury, even for the economy room that I stayed in. I love good interior design and it was wonderful seeing how the room was put together, from the frosted glass wall separating the bathroom, to the leather seat fitting perfectly into the alcove, to the four different lights you can control from […] the bedsidce. You get pajamas and slippers and even single-use drip coffee (yum-yum). However the room is small. Thankfully I had only a backpack. You will struggle with a suitcase, any suitcase. The location is fantastic, right in the red-light district, near all-night bars and ramen-joints. The eating restaurants and shopping of Shinjuku are a short 10 min walk away. With a little nous, you can can walk around most of the annoying touts of the main red-light streets. It is however, a bit of a walk from the massive and confusing Shinjuku subway station. But drop your bags and grab a bowl of ramen at the nearby Nagi ramen and you'll instantly feel better. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, iffy location"
The Granbell is a very nice hotel, with great rooms, a nice lobby, and I quite enjoyed the upper floor bar. It was fine for a family stay, but be aware, the area is dodgy. It might be a bit uncomfortable to walk through the surrounding area with kids, and the cab driver refused at first to bring us there. However the Granbell itself is not part of the […] surrounding 'scene' and will not disappoint. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice Hotel surrounded by love hotels"
Nice new rooms, very clean and modern, room only had enough floor space for bags and bed. Hotel is surrounded by love hotels, but still in a good area tucked away from the crowds but close to everything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Awesome hotel! Clean, new, modern, friendly!"
An amazing hotel - clean, modern, new, friendly, and very inexpensive considering the amenities! I'm definitely going back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I had a good time staying in this hotel. It is a little bit difficult to find and quite far away from the JR station, though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hotel - Not best Location"
No problems with the hotel itself. New, clean, good service, etc. The room was smaller than other Tokyo hotels I stayed at, and that's small since hotel rooms in Tokyo are small in general. The only negative is its location and distance to Shinjuku station. Granbell's website says it's a 15 minute walk from the station. That may be true IF you know […] exactly where the hotel is located, because the hotel is off the main streets in an enclave. And in the day time the hotel sign is not easy to spot from main streets (Its very small metal sign blends in too well with the top of its tall building's metal design.) Anyway, it took about an hour of aimlessly walking around and repeatedly asking for directions before finding it. I later learned my lesson that this all could be avoided by taking a 700 yen cab ride from the station. So if you stay there, opt for a cab! In general comparison, other Tokyo hotels I stayed at were far more conveniently located, equally nice, for less money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel with excellent views and amenities"
The hotel was just opened in Dec. 2013. I believe this hotel was designed for international visitors. My room had a king sized bed which was great . Also my room had higher doorways, windows and counter tops as most of Japan is scaled down for shorter stature people. The outdoor patio bar on the 13th floor provided a 270 degree view of the city. The […] buffet style lunch was very good and reasonably priced. The staff was extremely cordial. The amenities in the room were some of the best I have experienced with expensive soaps and lotions, pajamas, a bathrobe, slippers, large LED tv, air purifier, the list goes on. I highly recommend this hotel!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet and clean in the center of bustling Shinjuku"
The Shinjuku Granbell hotel was immaculately clean and everything seemed brand new in the room (which was expected, since the hotel seems to have been built less than 6 months ago). The nonsmoking room and the entire hallway outside smelled fresh. We were happy to find that the air conditioning worked really well. Additionally, the hotel staff spoke […] English very well and helped us with directions in the city. Although the building was located in the busy Kabukicho neighborhood of Shinjuku, the interior of the hotel was surprisingly peaceful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beware of surrounding nightclubs"
There are tons of nightclubs around this hotel on the back end. I came with my cousin and boyfriend, and all the promoters were on the streets trying to get them to go in. We felt uneasy at times. But the hotel itself was great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is pretty nice, but a little bit small. The hotel is not far from metro train station but pretty far from Shinjuku JR station. So you should plan ahead to walk especially when you have a big luggage with you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel room was very CLEAN and COMFORTABLE; definitely deluxe category and very contemporary. I've been to many upscale hotels over the years and this one really impressed me with its cleanliness. However, I do not recommend eating at the hotel restuarant, specifically for breakfast. The breakfast was (3) star because the food was room temperature; […] bacon wasn't fully cooked nor sausage; dining area was an eye sore and buffet utensils dirty; and finally the service was poor (female restaurant desk clerk had a BAD attitude)! There are other restaurants in the area to have a nice meal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overall good hotel in Shinjuku"
Nice hotel in Shinjuku. The hotel is hard to find and it's in the heart of the red light district. Not a problem given how safe Japan is, but something of note if you are there with the family and kids. Like all hotels in Tokyo, the rooms are small by western standards, but nicely setup.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Tiny room, OK location"
First, location: this hotel is in Kabukicho, the "red lights" district in Shinjuku (an area with night clubs with male and female entertainers). Walking around Kabukicho is perfectly safe, so that need not be a concern. It's not far from the JR train and metro station. It is also close to the famous Golden Gai alley with all its bars. During the weekend […] Shinjuku and Kabukicho can get a bit crazy, so avoid if you prefer quieter areas. Otherwise, it's fun. As for the rooms: we stayed in an "economy double" which really is what in Japan is called a "semidouble", i.e. a room with a small double bed. This was the smallest room we stayed in during our two-week trip, but it's well appointed and efficient. Note that it will be impossible to open large suitcases. It was OK for our two carry-on trolleys. The bathroom was large. Lots of amenities (more than in other Japanese hotels). You will see the bathroom from the bedroom, so if privacy is a concern you'll have to draw the shower curtain (there's no privacy while showering). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good location but tiny room"
The hotel is 10-15 min walk away from Shinjuku Station. Close to shopping, dinning and entertainments. The room is tiny and no closet or storage space for suitcase and luggage. Have to leave everything on the tiny walkway. There are 5 coat hangers on the wall near entrance door and that's all you have for hanging clothes. The service is basic. There […] is no currency exchange at the front desk, which is not a big problem if you don't mind walking a few blocks to the banks. I will still recommend it if you don't plan to stay more than a week. For longer stay you'd better find a hotel with bigger room or at least a room with some storage space for the luggages and extra clothing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Trust me this place is amazing"
I travelled to Japan for 10 days with 19 of my friends, and my boyfriend, and we stayed in 4 different hotels at different cities. Trust me if I go back to shinjuku I would again go to this hotel. It's at a neighbor hood full of food, activities, live nightlife. The staff speak English and are very nice. They hold on to your luggage if you need to check […] out and go explore or drop off to go explore. The hotel is very clean, breakfast is amazing and totally worth the money. And the size of room is pretty good compared to other hotels in Japan. I am very picky with hotels, and I would go back. Also AC works perfectly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Shinjulu Granbell Hotel is located walking distance from the Shinjuku Station which makes a great location to get to anywhere in Tokyo. The hotel staff was great in helping me with directions, recommendations and even called on my behalf for tours I had previously booked. Although the rooms were small, this is Tokyo and the amenities made up for […] the size. The rooms included everything you needed from toothbrushes to "fabreze" for you clothes. They even provided me with an iron for my shirts. Will be making the Granbell my choice upon my return. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This place was wonderful, like a boutique hotel. Great location next to Shinjuku and other areas nearby. Very quiet side street with nice lobby and fabulous rough top bar overlooking Shinjuku. The one major flaw was their free wifi access. It would work great for 5 minutes then completely drop off and come back for 30 minutes. There was never a good […] or bad time of day just very sporadic whether in room, lobby or roof top bar, but not a major factor if deciding to stay here. The pros far outway any of the cons. "Great modern hotel"
Me and my husband stayed and Granbell Hotel for 5 nights during our trip to Japan in April 2014. For the first three nights we rented one of their smallest rooms available the Standard double , and while experience was fun, the room was a bit too small for two people. For few nights it's fine though. Everything was brand new, clean and pretty. For the […] other two nights when we returned back to Tokyo we had much bigger room, one of their studio Superior Designer Studio Double , absolutely beautiful and great size room. Spectacular view from the 16th floor. I loved how they provide you with so many great things that hotels in US don't. Like night gowns, bath salts, tooth brushes, razors, foam for shaving, nail fails, and so much more. Hotel staff was very nice and friendly, we needed a feather free room and they made sure to do that. When we checked in for the first time it took them about 20 minutes to change the sheets and they gave us free drink tickets while we waited. I would definitely recommed this hotel to anyone that likes modern style hotels, great quality and area was amazing too. So close to Shinjuku train station, which is one of the biggest stations in Tokyo, you can get anywhere from there. So many amazing restaurants and shops just steps from this hotel. Definitely stay here, but I would recommend to spend a little more and get the bigger room, it's worth it! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Smoke & Mirrors"
The Shinjuku Granbell was only 5 months young when I stayed there (April '14) and it's still finding its footing. The slick and modern design is what drew me to the place, but that was only skin deep. There was no depth of good service behind the glassy patina. The food was barely edible, the TV had no English-language stations, the room instructions […] were written by someone that had little English grammar experience and the staff was not coordinated well. Its youth must be taken into experience, but rehearsal pre-opening was skipped over. I don't believe I will return to see if it has learned its lines any better. "Oasis in seedy Kabukicho"
We found this to be a slick boutique hotel right near the seediest parts of Shinjuku. The hotel is surrounded by love hotels and the scummy joints in Kabukicho, but is itself immaculate and has a very "cool" feeling to it - from the smooth DJ mix playing on the in-room TV, to the room decorations to the rooftop bar, all of it was hip. My only gripe […] was the lack of fitness facilities in the hotel (you have to go to a nearby gym). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel looks very new. Rooms even though they are compact, look modern and all space is well distributed. Also it is in shinjuku area that even though gets very crowded, is well connected to other areas by metro and JR for sightseeing , and has lots of places to shop, dine and go out, if someone decides to stay around the area.Genuine Expedia guest review
I loved everything about this hotel. Modernity, service, cleanliness, location and on-the-day price!! I will DEFINITELY stay again. Seriously, it was awesome. For foreigners, it wasn't roomy but this is Japan. In the context it was perfect. Loved itGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, Small Rooms"
The location of the hotel is great, but the smalls are quite small (even for Japanese standards). My 2 friends and I booked a 3 persons room that includes a loft. "Exactly as described"
The hotel room itself was exactly as advertised. Whilst small it was lovely, spotlessly clean and the staff spoke perfect English. The hotel itself was hard to find not being in google maps probably due to the fact it is quite new. If you are staying in Shinjuku I would however definitely recommend this hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was tiny, but efficient in providing everything you need: comfortable bed, small fridge, TV, coffee pot, hairdryer, etc. The toilet had over a dozen functions (if you can figure them out), and there was a half-sized, deep and clean bathtub (that goes along with the shower). The bar/balcony had a great view. It's perfectly situated in the Shinjuku […] area where my girlfriend and I spent a few nights. This was our final hotel on our long trip around Asia, so we decided to splurge and get something nice. We're very happy we did. "Very impressive and modern hotel"
We are very impressed with the hotel as it is very modern and trendy. Overall is awesome but the location-wise is a bit distance from JR, shopping malls and subways. The area made us feel like hookers as the red light district is right downstairs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I only stayed one night, but I'm looking forward to a longer stay on my next trip to Tokyo.
