We enjoyed our stay at the Great Divide Lodge because it was close to several locations we wanted to visit. The service by the employees was excellent and the hotel was very comfortable. >Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Reasonable rates with the stay...!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice location, right next to some hiking trails just off the highway. No cell phone signal while I was there. I was in a room that was renovated, though wasn't completely renovated (ie still has original tub, tv isn't flat screen yet). Some of the cabins behind the hotel looked like they had sketchy looking roofs (ie plywood where there should be shingles), […] I don't know if they are still under renovation or a cheap repair job, didn't see the inside of the cabins to see their condition. I went for the $38 sale on hotels.com and didn't realize it was a shared hotel room until after I booked, they still had available private rooms and were able to upgrade my room without any issues. We stayed one night here on out trip up to Jasper. Very friendly staff. About 15 minutes drive from Lake Louise. The rooms are basic but clean. Beautiful view, but the traffic outside is continual till around 2am. Value hotel. Continental breakfast included.
"Magnificent views but not much else except if you on a shoestring budget"

We stayed 3 nights in early July, We booked our Family room a couple of months in advance. Located on the HWY #1 (Trans Canadian) not far from Field, a quaint village. The hotel is very old and in serious need of renovation. It sits on the busy highway with day and night traffic including the mounstrous semi-traillers. The Wapta lake and surrounding mountains look ominous at first, then you just can't stop looking at the scenery, although the Wapta lake is not really accessible. Decent size room, tiny bathroom, no kitchen, fridge or even coffee percolator. Wi-Fi was very weak, facilities are below average: dry sauna that did not work. Laundry facilities in Field? Friendly, polite and helpful staff. Price including a good breakfast is well below average, (breakfast is almost always extra except here) so a decent value for money after all!
"Don't go for the bunkbed"

Since my trip was a last minute thing, all the beds in the area of Field were already booked. I shared my room with an elderly couple who snored so loud, that I almost could not hear the sound of the highway that goes right next to it anymore. In the serenity of the beautiful Rockies, this place is not where you would want to stay. Maybe the price is cheap in comparison with other ho(s)tels, but to me it was not worth the money.
"Comfortable, affordable rooms and friendly staff"

We were looking for a place just to lay our heads while we explored Yoho national park. We read a lot of bad reviews about it being loud and were afraid to stay there at first, but because we chose the cabin/forest view, we didn't have a negative experience. We brought earplugs and they worked! For us, it was quiet enough, clean and the breakfast was acceptable. The staff were the best we'd experienced, looking after every need. It's located 5 minutes from Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, the Town of Field and the Lake O'Hara hike and 15 Minutes from Emerald Lake and Takakkaw Falls. Wifi was not the fastest, but not the worst we'd had. All in all, pleasant and comfortable.
"A great find! "

We were recommended this hotel by a previous staff member so decided to give it a go as accommodation in Banff was very hard to come by and expensive. We were very impressed with what we found. So much so that we stayed 3 nights as it was so convenient to Peyto Lake, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and Banff. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Simple but great. Lovely views over the lake and to the mountains. A little bit of road noise, but it didn't bother us at all. The staff were from all over the world and were knowledgable and friendly travellers. We found the restaurant to be fantastic! Reasonably priced, very good food ( loved the pizzas ) and a nice deck to enjoy the sunshine and some beers. It seems the off season is when renovations are done and I would not look at reviews prior to the Summer season as it seems things have changed since then! Would totally recommend this lodge! And go early to Lake Louise - 8-830 ish before the tour buses. We hired a canoe and were first on the lake and it was stunning!!

"Stay only if you need a quick night stay"
07/20/14 mingeek Los Angeles, California
We stayed here because we were coming from Banff on our way to Jasper, the location was perfect. However the room is very small, wifi does not work, bathroom is tiny, bed isn't comfortable and there's no mirror or coffee maker. If youre coming from the US this room is probably worse than a 59.99 motel6. We played $160 for the night. Stay only if you want this location with a quick night stay.
"Great budget lodging/dining alternative to places in Lake Louise"
07/19/14 Sockrateez Scarsdale, New York
A fantastic choice for budget travellers; clean, low-key lodge and good restaurant at quite a discount to Lake Louise offerings, just 10 mins from Lake Louise We stumbled on this place using a Google Maps search for lodging near Lake Louise, and booked one night by phone (the online system showed no availability). Then, after more planning and even afer finding some negative reviews on Tripadvisor, we booked a second night, attracted by the compelling price (I'm stumped by what the negative reviews are referring to). We would come back without any hesitation. Pros: Price (hard to beat); location, across from a lake and beautiful peaks; we used the place to enjoy a half day in Yoho and a half day rafting on the Kicking Horse River, before heading out the next day on the Icefields Parkway; very clean, quiet room (double bunk beds facing the creek/forest); very friendly, helpful staff; WiFi was good Cons: Very basic complimentary breakfast (bread, cereal, beverages, apples/oranges), but better than nothing; spartan furnishings in room, but sufficient; rooms facing the highway might be a bit noisy (not sure, but this could well be the case) (Stayed July 16-17)
"The Great Divide Lodge"
07/13/14 Eliot C Burlington, Massachusetts
We stayed for 6 nights and enjoyed the place very much. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was a reasonable size with a comfortable bed. Breakfast had 3 different cereals, toast, juice, and some fruit. Very slow Wi-Fi but you can get your email. The mountain view room has a great view. But you can hear the noise of the highway and it is more expensive. The back rooms have a view of the woods and are less noisy and less expensive. Choose what is more important. The Lake Louise area is very expensive and this is a great value for the area. It is not a luxury motel but a very comfortable place to stay. Given the high prices of all the hotels in the area, this was an excellent value and definitely recommended.
