"Great Location, Well-appointed, Excellent Value"
Sometimes hotels are like a box of chocolates, you never know for sure what you are going to get. The Oakwood Apartments Ariake is one of the best hotels I have stayed for the money. Many amenities. Close to lots of interesting attractions, restaurants, and two train lines. It is only about 25 minutes by train to Shinjuku station. My room on the 17th […] floor had a nice Bay view. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I will stay here again on my next visit to Tokyo! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Tokyo!"
I regret that I had not requested to be on a non-smoking floor (and I am still uncertain if one exists). Also, wished that the single rooms on the 17th floor that are designed for one or two adults had more space; a couple will be on top of each other at all time spent in these small single rooms. If your travel companion (the second person does not […] check in), the staff at the Front will charge you 200 yen per night for cancellation purposes. Incredibly, the room had everything one could anticipate needing, and daily House Keeping was consistently on top of things. The Staff is very enthusiastic, kind, informative and helpful. In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this full service residence during the first week of the eight month in '14. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for long term stays"
This apartment style hotel is conveniently located near major cities like Shinagawa, Shibuya, and Shinjuku. Each unit is equipped with kitchen, washer/dryer, and a wet room style bathroom. The room I stayed in was a studio, which was very small. Next time I go to Tokyo, I will definitely stay at this hotel but it will be a one bedroom,Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The rooms could be cleaned a little more often (it was only done once during my one-week stay), but that's minor, and otherwise I'm very happy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"perfect place to stay"
I stayed at Oakwood Apts for 6 nights during a business trip to the Big Sight Exhibition Centre. The location is perfect, within walking distance of the exhibition centre and also the monorail into central Tokyo. At Oakwood you have the best of both worlds; access to all the services of a top quality hotel combined with the extra space and facilities […] of an apartment. The best features for me were my own balcony on the 20th floor with a stunning view and the convenience of my own clothes washing machine - invaluable in humid climate when you have few changes of clothes. The receptiopn staff were polite and helpful and any issues were resolved quickly. I look forward to my next stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was not known hotel for me, so I didn't know what to expect. It is located at the same building with another hotel, so at first it is confusing to get there from the airport. At the hotel, everything was perfect and enjoyed the stay. Recomend to anyone.Genuine Expedia guest review

I actually got a TripAdvisor account just to be able to grade this Apart hotel. I was there in July for a fair at Tokyo Big Sight and had some medical problems with my mum. The hotell staff had made a mistake in the reservation and they did everything to fix their mistake. Even upgraded us to a larger apartment and great view over the bay area. I think that they were amazing, and the hotel was even full so full that they actually had to call around to other guests to fix their mistake. Anyway a mistake from their side finally turned into something very positive and I promised them I would send to Tripadvisor a nice review. Apart from all this the hotel is super clean and I think cheap and modern. Great communications with buses in this area even to at least one airport. Shuttle also to some places! You are close to the bay area a quite new area with a beach and sundecks. It´s very close with taxi. We once went by boat taxi to the hotel (Bigh Sight stop) that was a cool feeling, very Tokyo! Hotel is very close to the fair so just 5 minutes and we were there every morning. We had a balcony on the upper floor. And we took a bus to the center so we could see something. But you have a lot of options in this area of other means of transportation. Great experience!
"It has everything we need!"
01/31/15 Andrea Y
The place was small but very compact and it has everything that we need. From the stuff that we need for cooking down to the iron board! The place is ideal for a long-term stay. We actually wished we could stay longer. The room has its own washing machine and they have a bathrobe that fits me! The staff were really nice and helpful. The toilet seat is even warm! The pictures in the website make the room and the bathroom look big but in reality it is small. But It is just about right for a small sized couple like us. Not good for tall people! Although the hotel is just a 5minute walk to the nearest train station, but the location is still quite far to the city! It was a bit of a hassle espeially when we already had to transfer luggage to our next city stop to Kyot. We have to transfer train everytime we want to go to the main hub. Would have been better if we booked closer to the city centre.
"Lovely, peaceful, clean and quiet."

We booked our apartment mainly based on price but were very pleased with the apartment. By Japanese standards, it is small but is perfectly adequate for 2 people. We had a great view with a balcony, the apartment was serviced daily and it benefitted from having a 'Lawsons' in the building and a 7/11 across the road. There is a lot to see and do in the area but we found it too far out from Shinjuku and thus it was a real pain travelling anywhere and navigating the minefield of the train system. The apartments are above the sunroute hotel and benefit from a gym. Nice pleasant stay and the staff spoke great English and were very helpful.
"excellent apartment at reasonable rate and good location"
12/28/14 Aomori Hong Kong, China
This is the trip with parents and 2 brothers, and we decided to stay at apartment instead of hotel. we booked two suites and Oakwood (Mika-san of sales office) is so nice to arrange us on same floor and close to each other. Rooms with balcony, and well equipped with microwave oven, kitchen utensils, washer/dryer, heater...etc. Made us feel like at home. Location is good too, it's just 5 min to the station (either Rinkai line or monorail Yurikamome line), it's only around 25 min to Shibuya of 20min to Tokyo. as it's located next to Sunroute Ariake Hotel, you can also easily take the airport limousine bus from there to airports. :)
I think for this price, the apartment size is okay, it can fit for my family of 4. I have to pay another extra 500yen per day for the babycoat but that's okay also as the price of this apartment is quite cheap for the high season (I stayed here from dec 23-26). I agreed when people said that the bathroom is quite small though :) the apartment is clean, but that's all I can say nothing special about it. It's surrounded by buildings, very quite place, not too much peoople passing by but there is a train station nearby like 5 minutes walk
Stayed here for 3 nights and we love it. Room is pretty small but it's okay. Hotel staff are all friendly and informative. The view from our room is truly Amazing. Location is not bad, very convenient to transit if you want to take trains. Highly recommended if you want to stay away from busy cities of Japan yet close to Disneyland/disneySea,Tokyo, shibuya etc.
"What a rip-off!"
I thought I had a good deal. The "Oak Wood" apartments are located on Odaiba, an artificial island in Tokyo. The island has hardly any residents, only large office buildings and shopping malls. It requires a train ride every day to reach the main city of Tokyo. Odaiba is underneath the main flight path for the nearby airport, so it's never really quiet. All in all a bit inconvenient, but the lower prices would certainly make up for it. And... the pictures looked great! My own little apartment with a living room, a bedroom and a kitchen. Finally a place to invite my Japanese friends and experience live in Japan. Or so I thought. While checking in, a men next to me was complaining about the size of the room. He was speaking very loudly, demanded to speak to the manager and made a big fuss. It was the first sign of things to come. Next I had to pay tourist tax. In all my years of travelling in Japan I never had to pay "tourist tax" before! And, since this is supposed to be an apartment and not a hotel it is extra strange. Residents don't pay tourist tax, hotel guests do! No matter what, the tax had to be paid in advance. Once I entered my room I fully understood what the man from before was complaining about! It looked nothing like the pictures on the Internet! This isn't an apartment, it is a room. And a tiny one at that! There's so little space around the (single) bed that it's not easy to unpack suitcases without blocking the little walkway available. The kitchen is part of the hallway and if you'd succeed to cook there, there would no room to eat the meal. There is a washer and an ironing board, but no place to actually iron the laundry but on the balcony. The safe is so small that even a modest laptop won't fit (fitting a DSLR camera is impossible, even with the lens removed). Perhaps my biggest complaint: the bathroom ceiling is so low that one has to "limbo" to get in. The sink in the bathroom is mounted at knee height. Minutes later I was back at the reception with the same complaints as the gentlemen: this is not an apartment and this does not look like the pictures. Also: it is more expensive than a similar size hotel room, while service at the Oak Woord apartments is zero. Pay more for less space and less service! The receptionist seemed to be very familiar with the complaint, because quickly it was explained that I booked a so-called "studio" and it was not on the pictures on the website. If I want a real apartment, I have to pay extra. A lot! Yet, the apartment will have the same tiny safe and the same small bathroom, just more living room. Cancelling the room was possible, but at a 100% penalty. In other words: I was free to leave, but no money back. In the following days I was disappointed in many ways as well. Every time I went to the reception to ask for something the answer was always: "this is not a hotel". My standard answer was: "then why do I have to pay more than in a hotel?". Any positive things to say about the Oak Wood apartments? Well, the decor is modern and stylish. The rooms and hallways are spotlessly clean. The Internet-connection is fast. The view from the balcony is nice. There are some complimentary snacks on the desk. And they provide towels for the first day. After that one has to do laundry and keep the room clean. After staying here for a week I am deeply disappointed. Paying more and getting less. How would you feel if you paid to rent a car and they supplied you with a moped?
"Great value and nice place to explore in Tokyo"
10/29/14 Weybridge_family w
My family and I recently spent 2 weeks at the Oakwood in Ariake- it was a great and cost effective way to experience a new part of Tokyo. First of all- we stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment on the 20th floor. The main bed was large and comfortable as was the bed my 8 year old son slept on. The fittings in the room were nice- all seemed clean and new. While the kitchen wasn't massive it was good enough and well equipped. We were able to make simple dinners which gave us flexibility when we didn't want to eat out. The bathroom was large and the washer / dryer worked well. Wifi was reliable and free, TV had good selection of satellite channels. Especially great was the view- even on rainy days we were treated to a lovely panorama of Tokyo. On clear days it was absolutely stunning! We could see all the way to Chiba. The staff were really helpful- always ready with maps of the local area and nice tips. There are also discounts available for nearby attractions like the Legoland Discovery Centre. We didn't use the fitness centre but it has a few running machines and exercise bikes, one elliptical machine plus two adjustable weight benches and a good selection of dumbbells (max weight was 18 kg I think). If you want something more serious, there is a community centre with a gym and pool a 5 min walk away- costs 400 JPY to use either the gym or pool for 2 hours. We're really familiar with Tokyo but didn't know the Ariake / Odaiba area well- and liked it a lot more than we thought we would. - there are some restaurants a minute or two away in neighbouring office buildings, very quiet at night but good food and good value for money - in addition to the community centre sports centre, there is also a big tennis centre called Tennis no Mori with 48 courts- lots of availability. Reception can help you book if you can't speak Japanese. - there are a few supermarkets nearby as well- cheaper than central Tokyo - Odaiba is about a 20 min walk away or one stop on the train- you suddenly leave the very futuristic feel of Big Sight with loads of empty space and get to a beach / residential area. Walking along the waterfront and watching the boats and wakeboarders feels like California- and the little restaurants have a nice vibe. Plus you've got a couple of large shopping malls to explore too. So worth having a wander if you don't want to go too far. I can't fault Oakwood- it was a great base for us. The only slight downside is that even though the transport links are good they are a bit more expensive than elsewhere in Tokyo. For example, to from Kokusaitenjijo station to Ebisu (direct train on Rinkai sen- takes 15 min) costs 470 JPY for an adult which is high by Japan standards. But to be honest that's only about 2.50 GBP so not that expensive by global standards. But compared to going around Tokyo by tube or Japan Rail it felt expensive. All in all- we had a great stay and can't recommend the Oakwood enough for both the facilities and great service! Would stay here again.

- Great Value For Money - Within a short 5 mins walking distance to the train station - Exceptional service & hospitality - 1 station away from the Odaiba shopping area, which was more present - Fully equipped rooms with stoves, washer/dryer. - Size of bathroom was acceptable - Quiet at night - Good soundproofing of walls - Nice sea view - The only drawback is the size of the bed, which seems to be a tight fit for 2. Most hotels in Japan have small beds.

Great value for the money! 1 - Near two train stations. 2 - The room is nice and fit well to the Japanese standard. 3 - The staff is very very very helpful and polite. 4 - Shopping all around the area. 5 - Room kitchen and clean facilities was awesome. Highly recommended!
