this was my personal trip post the extravagant stay at the Westin in Vendome in Paris! Landed at the BCN airport by Easy Jet and took a bus to the city centre. post that a metro and then was roaming across the place to find out the hostel! the postal address is very much difficult to find out and to make the matters worse it was at around 8 pm in the night! i was with my brother and finally decided to hire a cab and to find out the place! it was really tough to find out the place!
one we reached the hostel Mr. Scala took us inside the hostel on the 6th floor where our room was there! there were a narrow stairs which took us to the room! the room was a small room which had 6 beds (3*2) the lockers were really small as well.
we shared the room which a couple of chinese girls and a danish college going guy! the bathroom was shared by guests from 3 other rooms! the kitchen was average and we could cook whatever we wanted!
it was a different experience of a kind for us! We Indians are not habituated for such kind of accommodation but i really enjoyed every bit of it! could interact with guys and girls from different nationalities and went out to the clubs nearby!
the best part about this hostel is that its right at the beach front where most of the night clubs are situated!
Let me tell you the whole story of us (3 girls) getting ripped-off by the owner of Bedcelona Beach Club & Rooms. When we turned up at 1 p.m. and rang the bell that we were told to ring, a guy opened the door and yelled something at us in Spanish. He was kind enough to let me talk to his boss on his phone who said he had e-mailed us, only 5 hours before our previously announced arrival time: There was a "problem" with the neighbourhood, we can't stay there (the main reason we booked this hostel was its short distance to the beach) and we have to move to the other Bedcelona Hostel (6 stops on the metro and not even close to the city centre or the beach). We refused to accept his offer and looked for any other kind of accommodation close to the beach. Of course we thought Bedcelona would return the deposit to us we had already paid in advance. After arguing on the phone for 10 min. we were able to pick up 30€ of the deposited 60€.
Chatting to some people in the neighbourhood we found out that Bedcelona Beach Club & Rooms is actually an illegal Hostel, who knows what is true but after our experience I do not doubt that at all.
This hostel has a very nice location. Right next to the beach and restaurants and bars galore. But it is very very small for a backpacker. The rooms are very cramped and don't even bother using the lockers they provide here because my backpack won't even fit in it. And apparently my bag is the smallest backpacking bag anybody has seen. So for all you backpackers who lug around those big bags, just a heads up, it won't fit in the lockers. Also the bathrooms are not very clean. The only thing nice about the bathrooms is the sink. The shower is disgusting and it's either freezing cold you're shivering or so hot you can't even be in it. Other than that, the kitchen is very nice and the staff is even nicer.
Nice area-close to beach and clubs but still not noisy. Small but OK rooms. Clean- not in shower sometimes. Good service and security.
Safe, easy-going -highly recommended for young, laid-back people!
Excellent location, right next to the beach. Fair price & very clean rooms.
Best part I feel was Jordi, the owner. The man knew about Barcelona much more than tour guides. His details were precise too. Bang on!
I know where I'll be staying if I visit Barcelona again.
Nice place near the beach. Several bars and restaurants rounding the hostel.
Great and helpful staff; the person at night speaks russian.
Bathrooms quite new and clean. Equiped kitchen to cook and share experiences with other guests at same apartment. We have met groups from France and Great Britain and enjoy togheter.
I originally had booked a room at the other Bedcelona Hostel (Gràcia) and the sent me an e-mail the day before saying they had a bit of a problem and I had to move to the other hostel. the rooms are good, you have to share a kitchen and a bathroom for every 4 or 5 rooms (4 people each). There was a Russian guy that came in yelling if there was noise after 11pm. Lots of stairs to get to the rooms. And there's no sign at the entrance, you have to go to a office first and they'll get you to your hostel.
In fairness, we were probably not their target market - group of older guys who decided against the W down the beach as we'd only be dumping our stuff and heading out and just needed somewhere to sleep. Rooms are clean, location is great, list of things you cant do exceeds most schools but it's not really a drama. The manager was a lot more relaxed with the young german girls in the next dorm than he was with us. In fairness to them, when they heard English boys were checking in they probably thought One Direction, not The Pogues. Can't fault the place, will never need to go back.
After reading some reviews of this place on TripAdvisor I was hesitant to book, but glad I went with it anyways! I even bought my mom to this hostel and there was nothing to complain about. This location is literally right next to the beach and the accommodations are exactly what you would expect from a hostel, nothing more, nothing less. Shared washrooms, shared rooms, bunk beds ...
The GOOD: we stayed in Room 13 on the first floor in a female dorm. There are 6 beds in this room and yes it was a BIT crowded, but everyone just waits until the other person is done anyways and when you are back in the room you are just sleeping. If it bothers you to be closer, just bring a blanket and drape over one side of the bed (if you are on the bottom bunk). The rooms were cleaned EVERYDAY, the lockers are large and fits a regular backpacking bag and the beds were comfortable with new sheets. This floor also has two toilets and two showers, which were always stocked with toilet paper and regularly mopped. There were also security cameras in the reception and an on-duty guy named Slava that was guarding the place all the time. Kitchen is also fully equipped. Did I already mention, you are literally 2 minutes from the beach with an amazing bakery across the street for your morning coffee?
The BAD: There was construction happening RIGHT across the street every morning around 6-7 AM. But maybe that was just our stroke of luck. And for those of you who aren't used to sleeping in the heat, there is NO air-con, just a fan. But I lived in Costa Rica for 2 years with just a fan, so that didn't bother me. Spend a nice long day out and take a cold shower before you hop into bed! The only thing that was weird in the beginning that the website didn't mention was that when you get to the address at Baluard 106, the place is actually called Piso Barcelona, not Bedcelona. But once you know this, and they explain that it is the management company then it was all fine.
Other than that, Jorges the front desk manager was always reliable and open to help. Take the free walking tour at Travel Bar and don't forget sunscreen. This place was exactly what we expected and is a great deal for the money!

This place was very hard to find. No air con.. was extremely hot... had to share the smallest bathroom ever with 5 other rooms. not sure how many beds were in the other rooms on our level but we had 6 beds (3 x double bunks). There was a kitchen on our level with a fridge, toaster ect but that's about the only good thing about this place! There was a family in the room next to us with kids staying there.. a little awkward! The rooms was so small I don't think any more beds would have fit in!! our room was on level 3 so had to walk up mass amounts of steps... very hot, crappy, small, smelly.. Even though it is cheap, its not worth it..! We actually booked and paid for 3 nights but after the 1st night we just left.. didn't even try and get our money back as there would not be a hope in a day.. these people are scrooges!
