"One night in the guest house"
I only spent one night here on my way to a wedding outside of Lisbon. It was very easy to get to from the airport (I took the aerobus to Rossio for 2 Euro or something). The staff was SO friendly and accommodating. The room was small but cozy and private. The bathroom is shared but only by one or two other guests and it is extremely clean and there […] is even a bathtub if you're so inclined. The neighborhood is essentially right in the center of town, near good shopping districts and a very lovely vibe. If you are looking for a clean, affordable, friendly, private experience, I highly recommend this! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what we expected!"
This place is a glorified hostel, not what I would call a guesthouse. Our room was on the top floor, the roof was very low, this was mentioned in the room description, but at its lowest it is closer to 1 metre from the floor not 1.5. There was no air conditioning, so was very hot, if you opened the windows it attracted bugs. On the plus side the staff […] were friendly and the room tidy. The location was ok (close to main square), however we arrived at night, and there were some 'interesting people' hanging out at the front door. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I loved this beautiful place. The hotel is by a lively, central Lisbon square, right by Roussio metro - perfect if you're seeing Lisbon for the first time and want to see all the sights. Our cheery room was small but had all the basics. The beds were comfortable and after all of our adventures, I had no problem sleeping off. The only improvement would […] be to have more storage. Whilst we had to share the WC with one other couple, it was always kept clean and inviting. There is a wonderful cosy area filled with travel books where guests can get refreshments, play guitar and hang out. The free breakfast is also served in this communal area. There is also a tiny (yet absolutely gorgeous) roof terrace where we spent one night under the stars. We thought that there would be free WiFi but for the first day and a half, this was not available due to a recent storm. The staff were very apologetic about this and we had intermittent WiFi on the last day and a half. Finally, the staff are so helpful and friendly, willing to give advice on things to see and where to eat (note: Casa do Alentejo was amazing!) All in all, a fantastic place and I can't wait to return! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"More of a hostel than a hotel, but a good one!"
Location is superb, as are staff. Free breakfast is excellent with a variety of different sweet and savoury options on fresh bread, and you can squeeze your own orange juice. Rooms are very small indeed, but very well laid out. We didn't have problems waiting for bathrooms, but hot water ran out very quickly indeed, and especially if someone else was […] using another bathroom at the same time, which was really disappointing. "Exceptional location and friendly staff"
The hotel is fantastically located for access to transport and many of Lisbon's tourist attractions and transport. The staff are very welcoming, the facilities are clean, the breakfast buffet was fantastic and it really felt like a good place to be. Booking was simple, as well as checking in and out. I arrived quite early and that wasn't an issue at […] all. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good for a few nights"
I stayed here for 2 nights and would say the price accurately reflects what you get out of the place. The neighborhood seems very sketchy but I was a single female and was fine the whole time. The rooms felt very similar to staying in a University dorm life - room and shared bathrooms. They were clean and bare. I really liked the whole "story" theme […] of the guesthouse - there were quotes everywhere. Breakfast was okay (not as amazing as the reviews would suggest) but the staff was very friendly. One thing to note is that the walls are very thin. In the morning, we were woken up by the staff cleaning the room next to ours - we could hear everything so much that it felt like they were in our rooms. Just beware that you might not be able to sleep in! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel with reasonable price!"
The hotel is very lovely, we stayed in a room with en-suite bathroom. The room is lovely and clean, only downside is we went there the beginning of May and the weather was kinda warm--had to open the window. By that, there were noises from the street below. (The location is excellent, near everything but the neighbourhood is not so great) The staff […] were very nice and attentive. They have the "tiny terrace" which is located on the same floor with our room- top floor. It is vwry relaxing to sit out there and enjoy the cool breeze and sun. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Un bon gîte à Lisbonne"
Excellent accueil, disponible. Excellente situation au coeur du centre (pietonnier). Peu de chambres avec salle de bains (il s'agit de chambres d'hôtes), mais grande propreté. A recommander.

"Central location and well priced"

We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 days in Lisbon, and staying at the Lisbon Story guesthouse made it so much more enjoyable by being so accessible to lots of great restaurants as well as so close to the train stations. Reception was open 24 hours a day, and the staff there were very knowledgable and helpful with all our enquiries, being first time visitors to Lisbon. Lisbon is a fabulous city and central to great beaches like Cascais and Estoril; we only wish we had longer to check out more of the many tourist attractions. We had our own bathroom in our room and we found our stay there to be very reasonably priced. Self service breakfast was a bonus!!!
"Excellent location, friendly staff, delicious breakfasts"
11/03/14 Matej_1979 Ljubljana, Slovenia
Right in the center of Lisbon, this rather small guesthouse offers walking distance to more or less everywhere if you're visiting to see (and feel) Lisbon. The rooms are nice and clean, the staff is very friendly, self-service breakfasts offer rich choice. The only downside are shared bathrooms, however, they were clean and non-occupied most of the time. Excellent value.

Great location very central. We booked a room with our own bathroom which was small but very clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. Reasonable price considering it includes wifi and breakfast which was very nice. The only downside could be that there are lots of stairs to climb but that just adds to the experience.
"Good for anyone wanting to see Lisbon"

A very pleasant step up from a hostel dorm situation – and worked out cheaper for us given the free breakfast/wifi/towels/sheets. Great location – super convenient for both culture and going out. Bit loud on the street until late (but surely you’d be out too!). Our room was small but clean and bright. Had to wait one morning for a shower but generally no problems with the shared bathrooms. Breakfast was lovely (cereal, fruit, bread and cheese) and carries on till about 12 so you can go out late and still get breakfast. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind. Cute little roof terrace. Free wifi. Would definitely recommend.

I'm writing this because the guesthouse gets for the most part rave reviews, and our experience was a bit different. As has been stated, many wonderful things about the place. Central location, nice breakfast, some lovely front desk staff (Paula, Rebecca). We have stayed in lodging with shared bathrooms in many places, but here, it was a often a problem. I believe there are 3 bathrooms for 8 rooms. The majority of the rooms are on the second floor where there are 2 bathrooms. With 2 people in each room, and the place being fully booked, it's a lot of people! The third bathroom is downstairs, 30 steps (yes, I counted) down a narrow, winding staircase (also often busy at "peak" hours, and then it's 30 steps back up) . I feel the guesthouse would be much improved with some simple additions; a shelf in the bathroom so you don't have to balance your toiletries on the toilet seat; some wall hooks in the bedroom to hang your towel; making sure restroom floor mats are changed daily. Again, some good things here but not for everybody. Next time, if a room with a private bath were not available, we would look elsewhere.
"Inaccessible and noisy"
10/07/14 Jay G Mountain View, California, United States
Nothing in the property listing indicated that this was an inaccessible inn. I had a booking with my wife... she has a knee injury and cannot climb more than one flight of stairs, and even that much leaves her in tears from pain. It is one flight up just to get to the reception here. And then our room was two more, steep and narrow flights up. There is no lift. My wife burst into tears. It was noisy -- Rossio is right outside. And taxis would not bring us to the door, only as far as the theatre, so we had to carry all our bags up the hill to the hotel entrance. Furnishings were plain and a bit frayed but clean, the receptionist was sympathetic and friendly, the shared facilities were hostel-typical. Stay here if you like being in the middle of the action in Lisbon *and* have no mobility issues or past injuries. Great for backpackers, but inaccessible. We finally checked out and rebooked elsewhere... the experience cost us a whole afternoon in Lisbon.

The reviews below are all spot-on, this wee guesthouse is fantastic, perfect if you're visiting Lisbon for the first time, as we were. We stayed 3 nights in the cute Escridor room facing Rossio Square on the third floor. Very bright, clean, spacious room, very comfy bed, we loved the vintage typewriter and literary quotations on the wall. The bathroom was shared but that was no problem for us, it was spotless every time. Breakfast was great, the common room nicely laid out with cushions covering most of the floor and windowsills as well as lots of useful local info on the walls and donated/left guides and maps. The kitchen is very handy for those who wanted to eat or prep meals there. As others have written, there's a lovely little rooftop terrace too, with a handy kitchenette just underneath stocked with tea, coffee and cups. Location: very central, just behind Rossio Square, easy walking distance to most places you'll want to see: 2 mins from Martim Moniz for the famous city-centre Tram 28, 2 mins from Praça da Figueira for Trams 15 to Belem, 2 mins from Rossio train station if you want to visit Sintra, and 5 mins walk to elevador de gloria up to the Miradouro/Bairro Alto. You also have 'A Ginjinha' practically opposite the guesthouse entrance :D Staff: All great; friendly, professional and helpful to a fault, especially Bruno, who gave us great tips on Lisbon and Sintra. They also went above and beyond to get wifi up and running for guests in the aftermath of flash-flooding in central Lisbon the day before. Yes, there's no lift but it wasn't an issue for us and staff are more than happy to carry/store suitcases for guests. The guesthouse also donate tips and leftover food, etc to the city homeless charity, another detail we really liked. We'll definitely be back!

Small place in a great location. Easy public transportation all around. Can visit most of the city quarters on foot. The staff is great and very helpful. Place is clean. Breakfast fantastic. The only negative I can find is the noise level. If you have a room on the first floor, the noise from the streets is pretty high even in the middle of the night. During the winter months it should not be an issue but during the summer months do not forget to bring some ear plugs. Beds are comfortable but our room was tiny which we did not mind except for the lack of shelving space. No room to put our stuff and no towel racks, this could be easily fixed by management. Recommendation A+
"Great location, very friendly staff, nice place"

Excellent location to visit lisbon and enjoy his night life. Very friendly staff. All of this in an authentic lisboa house. Placed closed to Rossio Square and bairro alto at 10 min walk from one off the night center area. The GuestHouse is in front of Rossio square, therefore there is a little bit of outside noise, but totally acceptable
