"You can find better."
You get what you pay for, and this hotel is no exception to the rule. The rooms are very small, which is understandable for Tokyo, but it was a cleanliness that was off putting. Location is great and close to train stations. The area requires a little walk to get into anything interesting. But is in a quite location. If you have a small budget and strapped […] for time, this hotel will do. Otherwise I would avoid and find something better, that might offer a little more comfort. Great value. 2person room had good space. Really didn't spend much time in room as it was easy to get on the subway and go anywhere. Rented a pocket wifi and it made going places super easy. Also found we could walk to sites thru nice neighborhoods. For its location alone I would recommend this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was clean and location was great.. Rooms are small but I'm guessing that's most of the hotels in Japan... Staff didn't speak too much English but we're very nice and didn't take long to check-in at all.. also liked that the room included free WiFi & multiple types of cell phone chargers incase I would have forgot mine... would definitely stay […] here again.. "We'll priced, clean and close to rail line."
This hotel was good. The price was great. They have coin laundry and free wifi in the rooms. The only downside was smoking in the lobby. When we arrived the entire lobby was filled with cigarette smoke. Our room was clean, but small, with no trace of cigarette smoke though. There did not seem to be many backpackers like us, mostly business people.Genuine Expedia guest review

The hotel is really a value for money. It's nearby various food stalls and some are open 24 hours, it has a convenience stall nearby which is open 24 hours. We arrived at Shinjuku metro station and although we were quite confident using it after being in tokyo almost a week, the sheer size of the place was a little off putting! The hotels website mentioned there was a tunnel that lead directly to the hotel but with so many exits we were unsure which to choose and so ended up getting a little lost and walking quite a bit further than needed! Make your way to the JR station, it is much easier to navigate from there. Head for the South exit and from there take exit 8 which is sign posted as 'tokyo government buildings and high-rise area'. Once you are on the right track it could not be easier, the exit brings you out at the ground floor of the hotel!! The hotel do not let you check in until 2pm but do allow you to leave your bags until then. Check in quick and easy, there was a slight problem with our booking where I thought standard room was non-smoking but apparently not. As soon as we got to the 17th floor the smell of stale cigarettes/smoke hit us from the elevator and got even worse when we entered the room. For the first time ever, I went back to reception and asked to change rooms..there was a bit of hmm'ing but we did get moved to non-smoking room on 15th floor thankfully! Although room is relatively small by western standards it is bigger than others we have stayed in during our trip. There is nothing much to write home about with regards to room and bathroom but it is comfortable enough if you plan on spending your days out exploring and only using room for sleeping, which we did. I would stay here again amd would recommend it to others as long as they weren't looking for something a bit more luxury!!
"Large room and not too bad location"
10/08/14 Kiriha Oslo, Norway
This hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Shinjuku JR station. It's on the west side and there are plenty of places to get food between the hotel and the station. There are also shops and cafes around the hotel, but the selection is vastly greater if you walk a little closer to the station. It's interior looks pretty old and seems a bit worn down, but it didn't feel dirty. The rooms is by far the biggest I've seen at a budget hotel in Japan. I've been to about 10 hotels in Japan and this was massive by japanese standards. The aircon didn't have a temperature setting, only a low-med-high-off. It wasn't that warm when I travelled so it wasn't a problem for us. The wifi was pretty bad. Coverage is poor and the speed was like surfing on an old modem. Even the cabled internet was pretty slow, but quite a big step up from the wifi. Not recommended if you need to work a lot and send or download lots of things. All in all it's good value for the money. The english skills of the staff was passable. Would stay again.

Stayed at shinjuku washington annex building's double room. Although it's a newer building than the main building, the hotel's infrastructure look slightly dated. Room was comfortable and clean. Location wise I feel is more convenient and less confusing to walk the underpass that links directly to the hotel. At shinjuku station, follow the signs for "south exit" (yellow in colour and ignore all others which says new south exit or south terrace exit), at the south exit, Aim for "exit 8". It's about 15 mins walk through the long underpass. The hotel also provides airport limosine bus service to both henada and narita airports. Just buy the tickets from the front desk in advance. A little hiccup for us that the staff made a mistake in booking our bus ticket for 1845 for 0645 instead. And guess what we got a morning call at 0645 when we are still in deep sleep. Luckily the bus was not carrying full load and we manage to rebook our tickets. Overall the stay was pleasant.
"Welcome to the ladies floor (and room)"
09/05/14 carnellin singapore
After traveling to Japan so many times (where most of my visits is Tokyo), I'm accustomed to the tiny room and small beds. Usually I'm traveling with my spouse or family, until this time where I'm traveling solo. By this opportunity I'm finally trying the special floor called the ladies floor. This type of 'floor' available at a lot of Japanese hotels in Tokyo area, and I happen to try the one at Shinjuku Washington Hotel. Located at the Annex, which is a 1 minute walk from the main building, it has it own receptionist, as usual , everything is swift and a breeze. Since I'm using the airport bus limousine from Narita, that happens to drop me off right in front of the hotel (convenient at its max), I can proceed with no hassle in carrying a 25 KG bag through the main entrance. Skipping all the drama when using the train. I went to the ladies floor and into the room. WOW! the queen size bed (since I'm a queen....drama queen :P), the air purifier, the special hair dryer with lots of options, the nano facial spray, the amenities, yes, they provide face mask, skincare, not just the usual toiletries. Almost all the hotels in Japan provide shampoo, conditioner and body soap with a very good quality brand, this hotel does too, with so much more for the ladies. There's also comb, extra large mirrors (not just one but a total of 4 mirrors with 2 large ones between those 4), deep tub, hot pack, body scrub, and many more, including a makeup remover....whaaattt??!!! But don't get me wrong, the room is still rather small, but bigger bed compared to other hotel for single I've been. So, good luck in placing your large suitcase anywhere. Staying here alone is great, but the nearest train station is noted at 5 minutes walk, if you're a Japanese, if you're a normal people like me and walk in heels 10-15 minutes for sure, and if you're feeling up to it shinjuku station is 8 minutes (20 minutes for normal people). If you're with small kids with strollers, take a deep breath, stairs are everywhere. Having a breakfast here means queue queue and queue, there's 3 breakfast restaurant and all of them seems to be competing in who got the longest queue.. If you want to have breakfast by 10, come by around 9.30. And I manage to try 2 out of 3 restaurants there. One western and one Japanese. I prefer the western options, even most of the Japanese here also pick the western, the queue can be 2-3 times longer. I also love the laundry room, they have relaxation room that so close to the smoking area, really hate to cross the smoking area every single time but the relaxation room (which is a big room next to laundry room) provide massage chair, computers with internet (which I didn't use since the free wifi already so good at the hotel and all over Tokyo -just download Tokyo Free Wifi app), coffee machines and other drinks. The laundry room seems like pretty popular too, but so far I always manage to find 1-2 empty ones. There's 2 fully automatic from washing to drying and others are separated. Perfect for large families with kids who love to get their clothes dirty. In the room itself I don't see any heater, just air conditioner, perhaps this is like other hotel in Tokyo where they turned off everything during winter, since I went in summer, I need air conditioner and they work out well. The room and everything in it is clean.Sleeping attire provided and comfy slippers too. Apparently this hotel is quite famous and known by taxi driver (perhaps due to the long walk), of you happen to get lost or too tired, take a taxi from shinjuku station is around 700yen. Going back to the airport also a breeze, don't forget to buy your tickets are the receptionist and dont lose it. if you lose it, talk to the ticket man at the bus at the appointed time, he will have your name, so you can still go into the bus, but you still have to purchase another ticket at shinjuku station as their final stop before Narita.
"Annex building - very basic and functional"
08/18/14 steinbot Toronto, Canada
- the annex building is non smoking which was very nice - rooms were clean and a normal size for Japan (150 sq feet) with a great view - 15 minute walk from Shinjuku station and easy to find ( we used the trip advisor Tokyo app to walk from the station to the hotel. Definitely get the app. You do not need data to run it! - easy to get to/from the airport by train(get your train ticket in the basement at the tourist desk for 50% off your way into Tokyo) - lots of restaurants and shopping in the area - Breakfast is not provided, but it is easy enough to find outside of the hotel - Great place to stay at as every subway/train goes to Shinjuku station . This makes it very easy to get around Tokyo Definitely would recommend this hotel (annex building).
"Not a Harry Potter fan but enjoyed this"
Im not, in any way shape or form, a Harry Potter fan however i really enjoyed my day here (2nd visit) from start to finish. Very well organised especially as we had preorganised tickets that were a doddle to pick up. I enjoyed the ability to walk freely once out of the 'great hall' although the sight of a 10ft spider on the roof of one area had me running for the door.....model or no model..... Even my 16yr old, hormonal son, had a great time (he never looked at his phone once all trip) so all in all i would go back again
"Handy spot for your first arrival in Tokyo"
07/23/14 Wattamillsy Adelaide, Australia
This hotel is nothing to write home about but it is on the limousine bus route from the airport and you are dropped at the hotel door, SO... if you have never been to Tokyo before it is a good base for a couple of days before you change hotels. We stayed in both the 'old' part of the hotel and later in the Annex. The 'old' hotel is at first, rather a shock to the system as it smelt awful in the lift and in the room (like stale cigarettes), but once we settled in, we found the room very basic but comfortable. The bathroom is unusual as you have to step inside it but the shower is great. Another thing is the price, it is good compared to some other hotels. Stay in the twin rooms as they are a lot bigger than the standard double bed rooms (we are too big for a double bed!). The Annex is a lot newer and comfortable, again book a twin room as it is bigger.

Just 15 minutes walk from Shinjuku West exit by underground passage direction to Tokyo Metropolitan building, you can reach the hotel. Advance booking to the hotel's website I got 40% discount with breakfast included. Staff can communicate English. Fast check in&out The room is not too big but it supplies all needs with complimentary tea and coffee, yukata, bathroom amenities. The bed is big enough for 2 persons. Overall is great with minimart on ground floor. Airport Bus stop is in front of main building. The advance booking is applicable at hotel reception
"Decent place for our 4-Night stay in Tokyo"
06/09/14 My_Hotel_Review New York
The hotel is a standard modern business-type hotel; it was quite adequate for our 4-day stay in Tokyo, but nothing special. The rooms are standard, a bit on the small side; but this is appears to be standard for Japan. Our room #876 was in the annex building, which is non-smoking. The room was comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was well-supplied. The only thing we strongly disliked was the high step up to go into the bathroom. The service was fine; the staff pleasant and helpful. Note: the Airport Shuttle Bus and all tour buses stop in front of the Mail Building (not the Annex). The location is good; an easy 15 minute walk to Shinjuku Station; which has numerous subway and railway lines. Many restaurants and stores are within walking distance. There is even a long underground passage to the station (useful on a rainy day). The Meropolitan Office Tower is a few blocks away; it has a free public observatory on the top floor as well as a tourist information center. For an inexpensive (Western) Breakfast, there is a Dennys nearby,
"Twin room at Annex building is nice and big in Shinjuku area for this price"
06/06/14 jump2014 San Francisco, California
I stayed at Annex Building for 8 nights(5/22-5/30,2014) with two reservations because no twin room for 8 continuous days, so the first three nights stayed in double non smoking room for two people(around 170 sq ft) , It's not bad at all, it has one queen size bed against the wall and one arm chair, working desk, two big windows, although there has no room left for us, but its still fit two large suitcases and one carry on suitcase, and the room entrance is narrow, only for one people walking at a time, but we go out for whole day so its OK for us. Then we change to twin non smoking room( 2 twin size bed, around 280 sq ft) for the rest of the trip, room size is more bigger than the one bed room,of course the room is more comfortable for two people, and the price is a little higher, but its worthy to pay a little more for the room($ 25 more a day), And the beds are so comfortable, and clean(for both room), so if you have two people, no smoking, make sure your reservation is for double or twin,non-smoking room,(if your budget is good, go for twin room) they will give you non-smoking floor, very nice, the room reservation will show the room is smoking or non smoking, if you book the smoking room then ask for non smoking room, then wish you luck if they have non smoking room left. And some room is for single( of course its very small, only one twin size bed and fits one person, around 140 sq ft, I know some people did even though they are two ), Down side for this hotel is the lobby has smoking area just right next to the entrance and counter, so when you get into the lobby, sometime the room fill with smoking( we don't use lobby all the time). BTW, this is a business hotel, no luxury or big lobby and no swimming pool, because we are outside all day so its OK for us, but if you like to swim during your vacation, find more expensive hotel, Hyatt and Hilton are near by and of course the price is double than this hotel. Anyway, for this price to stay in Shinjuku, its really good. The hotel location is good, only take 10 mins walk to shinjuku station, between the hotel and station, there has a lot of restaurants and shops, so its fun to walk. And the hotel area is safe, quiet. 7-11 and Family mart are close by. We also took highway express bus to Mt. Fuji from Shinjuku station, very convenience. Also, the airport bus stop is in front of the Main building(Annex building is right next to main building, so don't go into main building, you can ask when you get off the bus), so you don't need to carry big suitcase walking from the station, especially for the first time travelers, it will give you more relax for the trip. Make sure to make the reservation for return bus from hotel to the airport earlier, my bus was full.(I made reservation 4 days before I left)
